What's up with all the cutbacks?

Just returned from 12 days in Tokyo area with 4 spent in the 2 Disney parks. Like visiting WDW in the old days. Everything clean, smiling CMs, no broken animatronics, etc... Both now arguably the best parks in the portfolio, especially the unique Disneysea, and getting better with huge...

Possibility that WDW Transportation will allow rides in monorail cockpits?

I'd guess it is as likely as Disney allowing guests to wade in water at the resort beaches again.

If Everest doesn't get yeti refurb after Pandora opening, when?

AK could not take the hit of Everest out for yeti repairs which might take 6 months to a year. That is, until a new major draw like Pandora comes online. I see this as an opportunity and perhaps last before Joe retires (assuming he wants it working again while still on his watch). Could we...

    Zeka virus?

Spent a little over 2 weeks at POR in September and can confirm they not only have stations around each park were insect repellent is provided, but also at Disney Springs. There was even a can in each room when we checked in so I didn't even use the ones I had packed. Last year was our first...

Disney will post Alligator warning signs and fences

A good choice. Prior to seeing the one they're going with, my choice was this one. But think they did well to include snakes as well as stay away from water.

Gator grabs 2 year old at Grand Floridian?

Not fake, I assure you. My daughter and I along with several others spotted it near the bridge in front of Splash Mountain. The boardwalk along the water opposite Tom Sawyer Island is in part of one pic. Gator looks bigger in photo than it was. About 3 ft long.

Gator grabs 2 year old at Grand Floridian?

Took these pics near Splash Mountain last September. WDW can control humans (kinda) but cannot control gators considering all the water surrounding the parks and how much territory they can roam.

    Changes to the Dining Plan

This thread began with a kindly heads up to 2017 Dining Plan changes from across the pond. So I wanted to say congrats to all the Leicester City fans out their for a remarkable season and historic run to the EPL championship. For 14 days while at POR last September I began and ended nearly...

    ---2014 Confirmed Snacks Thread---

The WDW website under dining notes that Tune in Lounge does not accept the Dining Plan.

    Changes to the Dining Plan

That would be true. I hadn't thought about the QS Dining Plan. We've always used the standard dining and it would improve that. As an FYI, I wouldn't and haven't paid for it either. Just happen to always go when it and room discounts are offered and the dining was always the better choice for my...

Refillable mug for longer than 14 days?

Interesting. Looks like 3 issues being discussed. 1. Can you use the mug at resorts other than your home resort? Yes, they made that possible last year. 2. Does a mug included with dining plan expire when dining plan expires? That was how it was "suppose" to work. 3. When does a mug purchased...

    Changes to the Dining Plan

Nothing lost with this change. But something is gained. For those who like getting dessert with QS you still can. Just use the snack credit as virtually all desserts are snacks on the plan. What is gained is flexibility. You can continue to use the extra snack credit for dessert if you wish, get...

Refillable mug for longer than 14 days?

Don't think that can work. As you know, the Rapid Refill mugs have a chip in bottom that the soft drink dispenser reads and knows your check out date. When you purchase they are activated for "length of stay" for your room and expire at midnight the day you check out. Anytime you check out and...

Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

For those wanting to see inside BOG without ADR or interest in eating there, they open it for that purpose for the first hour or so after park opening.

Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

Whether the experience is significantly different or not, I'm mainly excited about AK adding several hours to enjoy. Makes up a bit for the loss of so many things at other parks. Especially HS and DQ. Yeah, I know, who goes to DQ? Well, during a 14 night stay we certainly did a few times. With...

What will Shanghai Disney open with?

This has drifted off the Shanghai topic towards DLP, but when reading the comments I was reminded of a differencein how they operated the queues there that struck me as odd. At the US parks visitors often use the single rider lines to avoid long waits when they just want to enjoy attraction and...

Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

Along with checking daily on AK park hours like the rest of you, I've been checking for updates on hours for CP at MK in September. What's going on with nothing available past 6:00pm for the entire month? MDE and the website occasionally shows hours past 6 but you can't book. If they truly...

    Help me pick my hotel

Middle aged and older adults (like me) will likely give you opinions that might not align with your interests. So I will try to answer this from the prospective of my kids and their friends. I've taken groups of 5 to 7 on 14 day trips in 2005, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2013, 2015 and have another...
