At least here in the UK, you can proclaim yourself a hypnotherapist, life coach, NLP coach, counsellor or nutritionalist… and you ARE one! Bizarre right? There's no awarding body in the UK overseeing these professions. For what it's worth, some may BECOME regulated in the next few years...

AND you can make up your own diplomas. And invent your own post-nominal letters.

Hey now, that was a legitimate idea that got vetted by the "big boys". The only reason I didn't pursue that avenue was because it was a lot of work, checking the credentials of each applicant, for no gain - I wasn't charging money!

But in a way, no - I wasn't pretending to be something that I wasn't. Each and every field I practice in I have done the prerequisite training in - no cheating here.
