    Nanny / Caregiver Issue

In the midwest, very cheap cost of living, I paid a daycare something close to $900 a month for a school aged child!!! Is this for real? Of course you need to expect to pay more for a nanny for an infant!

    Food Allergies at school--No chocolate

I've always been of the thought that, especially in elementary school, this is one of the few places that can kind of "cocoon" the allergic child and keep them safe. Middle and High School are off limits. I mean, seriously. If they are doing after school activities and hanging out with their...

    Food Allergies at school--No chocolate

I would agree with this. Further, it is not likely to be airborne, nor to cause anaphylaxis. Nut allergies are more likely to cause anaphylaxis because of the shape of the peanut and nut protein. For some reason (unknown), those protein shapes are more like to cause a more severe allergic response.

NYC What I saw women wear to work.

I live in the midwest. I'm in my early 30's. This sounds like fashion.... wait for it. In the midwest.

    Should I change my ticker

I've found that no one really cares. Mine reset after my poly vacation a few weeks ago and says I'm going in 10 months when it is really less than that.

Storing medical supplies at first aid and keeping IV meds cool?

That is a lot of IV Benadryl. Holy crap. Anyway, is that for your current reaction and treating the symptoms, or are you prepping these syringes just in case you have a reaction? If you have a new reaction you need to get Epinephrine (Epi-Pen or Auvi-Q) immediately, and go to an ER. Have them...

    AK, Polynesia or Grand Floridian?

Wilderness Lodge has construction, with it expected to ramp up. I would take that off my list. We just got back from the Poly and loved it. However, we have had many stays at AKL and love it there. Based on the child's age and gender, I would go straight for AKL. Totally worth it, and the...

Talk to me about the Treehouses, or Poly Bungalows or 2 bedrooms anywhere

We stayed in the Bungalows as it was a magical Poly upgrade from the Villa we had. We do not rent points but we pay cash. There are two bedrooms - one is a master with a king bed and gorgeous bath (whirlpool tub and shower). The other is a queen bedroom with a stitch murphy bed (twin sized)...

Couple sneaks Wedding in the Tiki Room~Feelings? and other sneaky things done in the parks

Thank you. These pages are riddled with FP+ suggestions and other notes. This was done at DISNEYLAND CALIFORNIA. California. Disneyland. Not Walt Disney World. And to the person who can't believe that flash weddings are a sore spot for many Disney brides - have you taken the time to read...

Waiting to board our plane and....

My egg suggestion was a joke, but after thinking about it... haven't you seen the protein packs at Starbucks? They sell those at the airport for a reasonable price. And I believe they include an egg. And I'm not sure a hard boiled egg wouldn't work, but that might get tossed by TSA. I don't...

Have you ever seen anyone get "escorted" from the park?

Can you link to this? I would love to read it.

Waiting to board our plane and....

I think people are going to have to just start expecting it - and the airlines will have to start telling people as well. With between 1-3% of the population having a severe nut / peanut allergy, I expect that things will change quickly. The fact is that you are up in the air with a nut allergic...

Waiting to board our plane and....

You can eat whatever you want for the rest of your life - except for the few hours you are on a plane with a nut allergic individual. Oh, the horror. I feel so badly for you. Especially when your options are pretty much limitless. I hope no one dies because you insist on breaking out your...

Waiting to board our plane and....

Are you kidding me? This is the board where people talked about taking crock pots on vacation. I fail to see how people can't think ahead. And sandwiches and other shops are easily available before and after each flight. Since flights offer alternative snacks (even snack boxes!!), I fail to...

Waiting to board our plane and....

It isn't a smell - it is the fact that protein can be released in peanut dust, and then inhaled. How do we deal with it? We check food labels - constantly. We don't eat out places that have loose peanuts or serve peanut / tree nut entrees. We call ahead and speak with the managers about...

Waiting to board our plane and....

The child with the allergy has no option except to avoid the allergen. The person who prefers peanut butter as their protein has just that - a preference. You can use a bagel and cream cheese. You can use cheese and crackers. You can use a sandwich with meat. Heck, you can get an egg and bring...
