Defunct Disney restaurants

Long before Disney had Captain Jack Sparrow of the Black Pearl, it had Captain Jack’s Oyster Bar, in a beautiful building extending into the water across from te Empress Lily. Originally, it was a traditional raw bar, and eventually added a few other seafood items.

Ate there every year on the DDP when it included appetizer and desserts (and tips). TWO LOBSTER tails .... after Crab Cakes for appetizer. We enjoyed that it was small, great service (some servers had been there for years) and great views of Marketplace. Ahhh, nice memory, thanks!

I'm another person who has searched in vain for a decent fettucini alfredo since Alfredo's shut its doors. The closest I've gotten is a version I make at home. But it's not the same, of course.

Au Petit Cafe
It was always hot sitting out there but the food was really good.

I'm another one who misses Captain Jacks at the now called Disney Springs. Loved eating there when on the DDP. I ask the kids (grown now) where they want to eat and my one son always says Captain Jacks. Lobster tails and views of the water were great.

Another one that we all miss is the Concord Steakhouse at the Contemporary. It was where Contempo Cafe now is. Loved the steaks and watching the monorail go by. This is another place the kids always ask to go.

In the mid-2000s the Crystal Palace had a renovation. During that time the character breakfast was at Liberty Tree Tavern. It wasn't the Pooh Crew, but Minnie, Goofy, Chip/Dale and it was the best character breakfast we ever had - food, interaction, small-ish scale of location. I wish they would do a breakfast there again.

I know Tony's Town Square doesn't get much love on the boards, but they used to offer a pretty solid breakfast there! I understand why they don't offer it anymore- most people rush through Main Street that time of day to get to the attractions- but sitting on the porch there, enjoying breakfast, and watching all the people streaming in was really nice... and it was one of the few park table service breakfasts with no characters...unless you counted the "characters" you saw running into town square with strollers and backpacks! lol

Does anyone else remember Ariel's at the Yacht Club? I always looked forward to a dinner there, to us it was really special. The food was excellent, but I most remember the beautiful décor. We used to see celebrities there sometimes; I can remember Mariah Carey and the Sony guy (her first husband, I think) and Bryant Gumbel. I was told that after it closed they used it for formal events and meetings.
OMG! I loved Ariels also!

Chef Mickey's - the original TS, Ariels @ the YC, Minnie/Mickey Luau @ the Poly, Coral Isle Cafe @ Poly, Concourse Steakhouse @ CR, Empress Lily, YC Galley

No comments yet about Aunt Polly's on TSI? I know it's open on the very rare occasion, but I don't think it's even "seasonally" open, correct? On my one trip as a youngster we sat there and I remember eating a PB&J that was on a paper plate and wrapped in plastic wrap.

Couple years ago I sat on the little gazebo near Aunt Polly's that overlooks HM eating a made-at-the-hotel PB&J and I had this flood of memories to being 12 again!

I loved the view at Capt Jacks, however the service left much to be desired, until after 9/11. I would go to the bar, and order one or two drinks and some oysters. Getting the bartender's attention was attrocious. After 9/11 when attendance was way down, the exact same bartender was very attentive.

I'm not generally a big fan of character meals, but I do miss the regular characters at LTT. Dining there with the characters dressed in seasonal attire made the holiday trips even more special.

What's wrong with us? I can't remember any restaurant closing (besides due to the big DTD makeover), since we started going in 2010. There is Kouzzina and Captain's Grille but those were never all that popular IMO. other than that... hmm...

At least all of our favorites have stuck around... right there with the duds. :)

Gourmet Pantry @ Disney Village....from the 80s...NOT the redone Gourmet/Mickey Pantry from the early 2000's

I really miss the home stores of the past. We bought some great Mickey shaped candles & soaps years ago. I haven't seen anything like that in awhile. The kitchen store was great also.

I miss the old Art of Disney store. They still have the great art but the area next to the art displays had great souvenirs including plenty of books.

Plus I'll add that I miss the old Akershus. Such good food in a nice, quiet setting.

I think Spoodles is probably the one place that closed I miss most.

Cat Cora's place Kouzzina replaced Spoodles and the Trattoria replaced that. The Flying Fish is still there.

Right, but Kouzzina didn't replace Spoodles until 2009, I believe. Was there another upscale restaurant at the Boardwalk in 2005?
