Calling all Chicago DISers #3

SLO - what day is it that Stephanie doesn't have school??

Tonight is getting ready for the pancake breakfast and then tomorrow from 7 am til noon is the Boy Scout panacake breakfast. It is all you can eat and scouts in uniform are free.. So that is my weekend..

Then Sunday Eric's band is practicing for the Elk Grove villege show on Friday and Battle of the Bands the next week..

My boys are off Monday for President's Day.. but Eric has track at 9 am.. Well it is official.. I hate cleaning.. but then who does.. it is a thankless task that the next day needs to be donw again.. but I love to cook and especially bake.. so we have had wonderful meals and made from scratch baked goods - pumpkin bread, banana bread, pumpkin pie, fresh strawberries coated with chocolate, chocolate crepes, and brownies.. I have "only " gained lots of weight.. I need to stop this.. ;) maybe I'll make a chocolate cheesecake..;) when do we go on a diet?? 2/15??

Happy Friday the 13th Everyone! :flower3: this has to be brief b/c i have a lot of work sitting on my desk... i'm just not ready to process it yet. i was getting dressed this morning and looked at my wall calendar (forgetting that i never bought a 2009 one and that the one on the wall is for 2008). i knew today was friday the 13th but wasn't paying much attention to the date on the calendar, i looked at the second friday and saw a full moon. i told my dad maybe i should stay home from work if it's a full moon AND friday the 13th, i'm terribly klutz-sy and don't want to injure myself. he then reminded me my calendar was for 2008. maybe i should take that down huh?

Slo ~ enjoy your day with the girls. I love Ace of Cakes! Mike got me a Chef Duff action figure for XMas! I love it! :cutie: As for my fundraising, it's not going too well right now, it's such a shame that if we don't raise the money we can't walk. I mean, I paid my registration and everything. i'm just nervous i won't make my minimum that i need to raise in order to walk. but i still have 2 months so we will see!

Everyone else ~ :wave2: have a wonderful weekend and a very special Valentine's Day!

Happy Friday everyone! I too am hoping we don't get the snow they're forecasting, I'm so done with all that.

Anyone have big plans for Valentine's day tomorrow? We'll be celebrating our oldest's 12th birthday :cake: .....she was our Valentine's present :lovestruc . Actually she was a scheduled c-section so we picked the day. She wants me to fix dinner and a cake from home, her menu is turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, broccoli casserole, rutabega and chocolate cake! I'm happy that she wants me to cook for her but I kind of miss the days of going out for her birthday dinner ;) .

slo - I hope your headaches go away soon, DH is suffering with sinus problems too unfortunately he can't really take anything due to the blood pressure meds he's on. hope you're better soon.
*My girls are off today too, and Monday. We're going out to lunch, just the girls.
**Thanks for the recipe, sounds very yummy.
***How was the Auto Show? DH is off next week so we're going to go Tuesday while the kids are at school.

piglet - I hope your cold is better soon.

momto1 - yeah for the irises! I'll have to go look if our crocus are poking out, they usually come up very early, snow and all.
*Yikes, I hope you get your situation worked out for April. We got a good deal on a room through hotels.com for our June trip.

geffric - yumm, I love pancakes! Hope the scouts have a great day!
*All your baking sounds wonderful.

mac - I believe in the power of prayer too, there's nothing like it.

I was thinking last night that it's been a while since we've seen Bunchkin around here. Hope all is well.

Well, the girls and I are going to head out for some lunch. Have a great Friday everyone and Happy Valentine's Day! :flower3:

Just a quick note to say "Hello" to all of you. I haven't been around for a while, I hope you're all doing well!

Happy early Valentine's day!

After a week of "phone tag" we finally have Lauren's MRI scheduled at Children's. When I found out last week that the soonest Loyola could do it was March 11th, I said "no way" and asked for a written order. Children's can see her next Friday, which is so much better. Poor thing has been in pain for over a month as it is, not a chance that we were waiting another month just to have it done at Loyola. I know that it will take a bit more work on everyone's part (since our doctors are through Loyola) but I don't really care.

Dewain and I are going out for dinner tomorrow and maybe to the casino boats. We want to try one in Gary, but I am nervous about the smoke levels. Since Illinois is smoke free now, I might actually be able to stay for more than an hour.

mac That is what I get for posting before coffee. I can't type let alone see.:rotfl:

piglet too I am glad you found a place to take your daughter earlier for the MRI

Geffric There are diet things to bake. I don't want to be so strict on this diet that I can't make it to lunch on Monday. I don't want to cheat but I still need to have good tasting food.;)

Hey all. Been crazed here past 3 days. My mom has had sink leaking/clog problems and her big tree over the driveway had a large branch crack off and fall in the drive so we had to get that taken care of. Thurs. went to DD field trip to the Science and Industry Museum. It has been ages since I have been there. I need to go back. We need more time to do stuff. We don't have much time on a field trip. Worked all day today and it was horribly busy.
Slo, hope your headache has resolved. Take care of yourself.
piglet, hope all goes well with your DD Dr. appt.
geffric, have a great Scouting weekend.
ID, I have been thinking the same thing. I have missed Bunchkin. And my DS just tonight said he wants to call Hunter and have a play date. HOpe everything is well with them. Happy Birthday to your DD!! HOpe you have a wonderful day!
Mac, thanks for always keeping everyone on your prayer lists! It's wonderful to know that we are kept in thought and prayer.
I don't think I am ready to diet yet!:rolleyes1 Too cold for outside exercise. I'll just cut back on the junk food a little bit.
Hersey, hope all is going well with you.
I think I need to head off to bed. I am pooped after the past 3 days.
Night all.

Happy Valentines Day!!!!
8.gif

So, what are you all doing today for Valentines Day???
Kevin and I don't celebrate anymore - I just don't want to spend the money on it. I did get him a card, and some Lindor Truffles to go with it. The girls each have a small heart that I put something in, but nothing big, the heart can't even fit a CD case. I got them each a ticket to The Jonas Brothers 3D movie, a large Hershey Kiss, and some small chocolate hearts - they'll be excited about that :)

Thank you for all the continued thoughts and prayers for me:grouphug: . I'm starting to feel like a normal human again this morning, and that makes me very happy. I didn't want to feel like garbage all weekend.

Mac - Thanks

geffric - STephanie didn't have school yesterday and Monday.
**Good luck with the pancake breakfast today - I hope you have a great turnout:wizard:

DG - I"m sorry your fundraising isn't going well :guilty: I'll send lots of PD your way for you to make your goal:wizard:

ID - Happy birthday to your DD :cake: I hope she has a great day today!!!

Geef - Good to see you!!! :wave2:

piglet - I'm glad you were able to get an MRI scheduled for Lauren - please keep us posted!!!
**Have fun tonight!! Horseshoe Casino is a great place too - they are in north Hammond.

HERSEY - My eating is not as strict as before I had Stephanie. I believe you have to have a treat once in awhile or you will never stick to it. I was ashamed at home many cupcakes I ate last weekend, but I didn't gain any weight, and I think that's because I watch what I eat all week. I'm sure if I did it all the time I would gain weight, but once in awhile is okay:thumbsup2

TTTTTTTTTTTTiigernnn - You have had a busy last couple of days :faint: I hope your weekend is more relaxing :wizard: I agree with not seeing much at the museum on a field trip. When Kevin and I went ourselves last month, it was so nice to take our time and see everything :)

Well, I gotta run and get ready for work - I'm working today.
My one employee asked off so she could go skiing - I said, "okay"

Have a great day everyone!!!!

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!

Mike and I are going out to dinner tonight! I'm excited! I'm so happy it's the weekend. I felt like this past week just kept dragging on.

Slo ~ how do you get such fun festive icons? The best I can do is change the color! Glad you are starting to feel a little better! I'll keep you in my thoughts. :wizard:

Everyone else ~ :wave2: have a wonderful weekend!

Hi everyone! Been so busy I haven't even been lurking for the past week. Felt myself coming down with a cold on Thursday evening and started sneezing really hard. Come Friday morning, I considered staying home sick, but Carol and I ride together, so I figured I should go in. About 8:30am, I'm sitting in my chair at my keyboard and I sneezed so hard I felt a "pop" in my left side, and my side muscle, which had already been in pain from all the convulsing while sneezing, suddenly felt like I'd been knifed in the side. I'd had this happen with my right side about 6-7 years back, so I knew right away that I'd pulled a muscle. Can you say Pain, boys and girls? My first thought was to try and grit my teeth and deal with it, but then I remember having this same thought the last time and realized I wasn't going to be able to work like that. Besides, I was scared to death that the next time I sneezed, the pain was going to be far worse! So, I texted Carol that I was hurt and in bad pain and needed to get to a doctor for a dose of good drugs. She decided to take me to the local ER instead of the one hour drive to our doctor's quick care facility. It was as I though, a pulled muscle. I had already loaded up on 440mg of Aleve and the doctor gave me a bottle of codeine for the cough and the pain.

So, now I'm sitting here at home while Carol is out running errands. The pain isn't as bad as yesterday, but trying to get up out of my comfy chair is a painful experience and trying to pick anything up off the floor is almost impossible. Add to that I can't cough of blow my nose and it's just not a fun day. :(

He says it's actually Lawry's, that owns Rainforest Cafe, that is going under.

Slo, I think you actually mean Landry's, unless Landry's has now sold it to Lawry's. Not even sure who owns Lowry's. I used to enjoy the RFC. The food wasn't great food, but it was tasty and it was consistent. However, after Landry's bought the RFC, the Safari Club discounts slowly started diminishing. The last time we were there, I was having the feeling that if one wasn't already a member, it probably wouldn't be worth joining anymore.

We've gone while at WDW, but I don't feel it's worth going out of our way for. However, prior to Yak & Yeti's opening, there really wasn't a decent sit down restaurant in AK, so RFC was a nice option on the way out.

John  I hope you get to feeling better soon. I did something like that before. It is very hard trying not to sneeze. It is times like that I wished a was a dainty sneezer.;)

What a beautiful sunny day yes it is a little chilly but I like the sun. I am taking a break from cleaning the house.

disneygal922 I wish there were more weekends. It seems they go soo fast.

John ~ I did that once, a couple of years ago. Hope the pain gets better fast, and that your cold clears up quick as well.

Did not too good at the boats today. I lost $51, and Dewain last $15. I really do not like the "new" voucher method for pay-outs. It really throws my playing, as I use to not play my winnings. I don't do good with numbers, so I can't really calculate it in my head.

I always love being able to sleep in on Sunday mornings:goodvibes

Valentines Day was very low key for us, which is how I like it.
We went to church, had a nice dinner at home (Kevin made a great meal), and then the girls and I watched The Princess Diaries - I love that movie!! Kevin went to bed early, because he wasn't feeling 100%. It was a very relaxing night!!!!:thumbsup2

DG - Where did you go out to dinner last night? I hope you had a nice time:goodvibes
**Here's the link to where I, and many of us, get our fun images http://bestsmileys.com/pageindex.htm

John - You are right about the Landry's - I thought Lawry's sounded wrong:laughing:
**I'm sorry to hear about your back - I did the same thing last July. I sneezed at work, and felt like someone knifed me in the back. I prayed that a customer wouldn't come in, because I had a hard time walking around. Luckily, my chiropractor helped make me feel better, but it took a good month to get back to normal. I'll send mountains of PD your way, because I know how you feel:wizard: :wizard:

HERSEY - :wave2:

piglet - Where did you end up going last night? I'm sorry you lost money:guilty: I always do, which is why I never go - I'm not a very lucky person when it comes to gambling:sad2:

Well, I gotta run and get some breakfast made
Have a great Sunday everyone!!!

Did everyone have a nice Valentine's Day?

Slo ~ We ended up at Empress in Joliet, our normal place.

After the boats, we stopped at Yankee Candle and went to Orland mall. We then ate dinner at Outback. Today we have more errands to run, and might end up trecking north to the L. L. Bean store.

Hiya pals! How's it going? I hope everyone's Valentine's Day was nice! I worked. It was very busy and exhausting. I have a blister to show for it but also lots of cash, so it was worth it!
Now that I am posted and subscribed again, I promise to be a good Chicago Dis'er and keep up.:)

Nothing new.

Segments are shown from all the parks and going back 50 years.
Expedition Everest's Yeti is shown, but commentary says it opened in
2005 instead of the correct year of 2006. Lucky the Dinosaur is also
shown. Worth recording for the completist. Interesting, but not
