The large number of new Aulani resale contracts??

Sooooo I’m just barely getting started reading the comments over there and I found one comment very interesting. The comment was from someone I presume received a notice from Disney or is very close to someone who did. They said there is restrictions of 19 reservations per contract. Not per membership or per member but contract. If this is true then even then cracking down will have virtually no impact since these mega renters own tons of contracts not one huge contract. Sigh.

This restriction might just be a restriction in the online DVC reservation system and no one could go past this limit. So even if you are using all these points yourself, the online system wouldn't let you book another reservation whether you were a commercial renter or using it for personal use. This would be really easy for DVC to implement.

That wouldn't change much though except for very large contracts. I think they misspoke because it was per membership before I believe. Per contract even most heavy renting members wouldn't ever run into it. 20 reservations even at a paltry 50 points per trip puts the total at 1000 points. How many single contracts have over 1000 points and are booking super small reservations like that?

I wouldn’t read too much into this.

Modern DVC has been very deliberate at not publicly defining ‘commercial’ renting. This does three main things:
  1. Allow them to use complex criteria to define ‘commercial’ renting. Criteria that might be too complex to reasonably document publicly
    • If they were so inclined, they could even train an ML model to generate leads/flag potential commercial activity. In which case it’d essentially be undocumentable
  2. Change the criteria as they deem necessary
  3. Prevents actual commercial renters from conveniently/deliberately coming in ‘1 under’ the rules

The fact there might be some hard rule somewhere doesn’t mean much. It might just be a backstop rule, that as long as the rest of the system is working, will never be hit.

Right and this person I believe is a heavy commercial renter and they basically said since it’s per contract it won’t effect anything.

This would suck because I have made a lot of reservations and cancelled many after checking flights schedules etc. I’m not renting commercially but when I see availability I have to book first and then decide if we can actually go.

This is per contract, not per membership. So unless you have a contract with probably over 1000 points in it, it won't affect you.

Also as Brian says, this is online gossip.......

That person who said that is far from being a reliable source. When asked to provide source she said “I spoke to a CM years ago and that’s what they told me”.

Yeah ok. And I spoke to the OKW bus driver and he said the opposite.

hmmmm I wonder if its the same person, since there was over 300 comments there may be different people saying the same thing. Cant call out any names here but the one I am speaking of is very well known and well versed in DVC. Either way I hope this is not the case, per contract is pointless imo

Same person. I’d say highly vested versus “versed”. This person also told me there is no such thing as Vero beach subsidized contracts. Zero credibility.

Looks like copper creek is todays flavour of dropping contracts
I dont think its the same situation. I think its just someone getting out of DVC. They are using the most expensive broker, and all of them have banked points, they aren't trying to squeeze every cent out of them. Its not the same as we see with Aulani with the strip and flip and delayed close.

I’ve made MANY more than 19 reservations. Usually I link them together eventually. But MANY more than 19.

Even then I think it was a rolling reservation limit of 20 before they checked you out. Any you would have cancelled, merged, etc wouldn't have counted anyway
