We bought the weekday WDW tickets for our upcoming trip today, although like others have commented, the cost savings is pretty disappointing. Prices including tax are listed below:
-2 adults, 1 child - total including tax was $2311.05 for the MMB tickets
-From a well known ticket reseller - park hopper plus tickets for the same dates are $2386.91 (and those include more than 1 water park ticket)
-regular park hopper would be $2327.57
Convention tickets for the exact same dates (5 day park hopper, including 1 bonus water park visit) - $2037.65
(And you can use these on weekends!) Note, I'm not condoning buying convention tickets unless you are attending a convention, per their T&Cs, but wanted to use it as a comparison given they both are discounted group sales type tickets. Obviously, Disney makes a ton of money from conventions, so they have their reasons for offering such steep discounts. They also recently re-priced their convention tickets to be a date based model - when I looked a couple weeks ago, those tickets were $1884.
At the very least though, I would hope they would offer similar pricing to convention tickets given we have purchased an add on service.
These tickets worked well for us because we are doing two weekend cruises with a trip to WDW in the middle, but this isn't our typical vacation pattern.
Of note, the MS CM was very helpful, but mentioned a couple times these can be upgraded to APs. We are considering this, but I found it interesting he mentioned it twice without being prompted by me.
