Hotel Miracosta vs Tokyo Disneyland Hotel vs Toy Story hotel.

Ah ok. Thank you so much for clarifying. Looks like I need to do something similar and add on a night either before or after the package I hope to book. I still haven't figured out which would be better.

I think I'm struggling so much with the TDL stuff because I'm not just planning a trip there, but I'm planning for a couple weeks in Japan. Since it's a new destination for us, I have so much to learn and I'm still working on our overall itinerary for the trip, so no time to really do a deep dive into the Disney days yet.
They might be up to 4 different VPs now (I could be off on that), so make sure you understand what's included and what you want. They all appear to be either one-night or two-night. We just had the amazing opportunity to do packages at Fantasy Springs, which was absolutely amazing - a beautiful hotel. But so was Miracosta! Just one word of advice if you're planning something like this at TDR. If you're looking to book a package they open bookings a month at a time, so make sure you know exactly when they open for the dates you're looking at (the web site will show the dates, approximately 4 1/2 - 5 months in advance of the date), and be online right when they open (which might be 2AM ET in the US!!). And if you're booking room-only, they're currently booking exactly 4 months out, and you'll want to be online right at 4 months. Good luck with your planning. It can be intimidating since it's so different from the US parks - but it's really worth it! We had an amazing time and would do it again in a minute (although we need more than a minute to save the money again!!).

Thanks so much. I'd love to check out Fantasy Springs! We are PST, so at least it's a more reasonable hour for us to try to book (but I spent many nights waking up at 4am to get a reservation for breakfast at Cinderella's when I had a little girl, so I understand).

Ask away if you have questions. This will be our third time to Japan. We are doing 1 week in Hakuba. 1 week in 6 days in Tokyo including 3 at TDL and 3 days Osaka/kyoto.
We usually just get our luggage shipped to next resort or to the airport near the end of our trip as we no longer need certain bags.

I stayed at Disneyland Hotel last week, and it was spectacular. The wow factor is definitely there, especially inside the rooms. They are also spacious enough for a family and have a large shower/tub room. The location to DL park is obviously great, and the monorail is a fast and good way to get from Disney Sea. You do have to pay for it, $5 per person, per day. And as of now, you only get early entry for Disneyland park, not Disney Sea.

I just got back from staying at Toy Story Hotel and Mira Costa and have previously stayed at the Disneyland Hotel.
Mira Costa was superb and you have gotta love the proximity of the Disneyland Hotel.
I recommend a split stay.

How was the Toy Story Hotel?
Very cute. Lots of fun, great for families with small kids. Good location.
Better than the Toy Story Hotel in Shanghai.
Has an excellent convenience store in the lobby
Would stay again.

lt depends on how much you are willing to pay :-)
Excluding Fantasy Springs which I haven't stayed at, my preference would be:
Mira Costa > Disneyland Hotel> Toy Story > Ambassador

Thanks. The rest of the hotel nights in Japan will be on points, so I'm a little less concerned about the price at DL than I would normally be (but don't want to go overboard either).

Just an FYI for others they have single ride tickets, day tickets and multi-day tickets for the monorail passes.

When we went in October we bought a 4-day ticket which is unlimited rides for 4 days, then bought an extra single ride ticket when we were leaving to go to Narita airport. We were at Hilton Tokyo Bay (located right next to Toy Story Hotel for reference among a few other hotels). I don't remember what the exchange rate was when we were there in October but at today's rate a 4-day ticket is less than $10 per person.

Because they are priced as single rides not roundtrip people should do the math even if they are staying at Fantasy Springs hotel (where you wouldn't need a monorail ride for DisneySea) or Disneyland hotel (where you wouldn't need a monorail ride for Disneyland). The exact price in USD will obviously fluctuate due to exchange rates but just notating this. We did a weeknight ticket to Disneyland, 1 full day at Disneyland and 2 full days at DisneySea.

So if you are taking the monorail from your hotel to Ikspiari and then back to your hotel, you would need two single tickets, right?
