Fresh Start January 2025 Exercise Thread

I've had breakfast at Boma a couple times and really enjoyed it. I've eaten breakfast at Ale and Compass once and did have the Dark Chocolate Waffles but didn't love them. They weren't freshly made and were heavy and too sweet. Plus, the restaurant decor threw me off, I was expecting, I don't know, Goofy using a compass to sail a boat? But it is really quite classy.

+60 at the gym. Very proud to have reached my goal "for the first time in forever." Feb. is going to be a strange month, with lots of shake ups at work on the horizon. My commute will likely change, and I might have to alter my gym days. All that to say - hitting my goal feels good enough that I'm thinking hard about what goal to set next month so I can do it again.

sophy1996 is now Potato Barrel Purple, the TEAM and I are POG Pink, and Raya is Griddle Green!

Let's talk about some Character Dining for Breakfast!

First off is 1900 Park Fare. I think the inside atmosphere is a little lacking, since it looks like a hotel conference room to me, but the buffet menu looks promising, especially with that Grand Floridian Strawberry Soup!

From disney's website: "Here, you may meet Characters from classic Disney films, as well as newer favorites like Encanto and The Princess and the Frog. Each Character is known for making a wish… and making their wish come true.

These cherished friends may include:
  • Aladdin
  • Cinderella
  • Mirabel
  • Princess Tiana"
Next is Akershus in Epcot! I have eaten there for lunch and didn't much care for it, but breakfast looks a lot more palatable with basics like fresh fruit, potato casserole, and Norwegian waffles.

Look how cute the waffles are!
From disney's website: "Akershus Banquet Hall opens its doors for a feast in honor of beloved storybook princesses—and you’re invited! Dine in a medieval castle where you'll encounter a royal promenade of princess friends who can't wait to meet you."

Cape May Cafe at Beach Club offers Minnie’s Beach Bash Breakfast
"Minnie Mouse and some of her friends are gathering at Cape May Cafe to start the day with Minnie’s Beach Bash Breakfast. They’re dressed up in their beachy best—and you’re invited to join in the fun.

Create unforgettable memories as you get autographs and photos during a delightful meal. Enjoy a spread of flavorful breakfast favorites like Mickey Mouse waffles, scrambled eggs, seasoned potatoes, sausage, oatmeal and more." (from disney)

Minnie's beach wear is too cute!

Lastly, we'll talk about Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary.

The buffet here is also full of breakfast classics. I have to admit that this Mickey pancake looks pretty cute!

There are plenty more character breakfast locations to talk about, so that's what my next couple of posts will cover!

I did breakfast at Park Fare many years ago. I had my then pre-teen Nephew with me, he got flustered talking to Alice and blurted out a string of gibberish... she looked him straight in the eye and said, "I don't understand a word you said". He snapped out of it. I've also eaten at Akershus a couple times but not recently. I do remember liking the food.

+120... all the usual activities. Yesterday I got 11,000 steps just working on clearing out the house and shed pre-moving.

I love breakfast buffets!! I think the only character ones I've done are Crystal Palace and Tusker House (both quite a long time ago) but those Akershus waffles do look good!

+210 minutes since my last post - some walking, a little yoga, a lot of shoveling snow ❄️

Boma is one of our most favorite restaurants! Love both the breakfast and dinner options. We have breakfast plans there on the 8th.

Character breakfasts are another fave of ours. Akershus is so good! Yes, those waffles are fantastic, @PollyannaMom! So is the potato casserole. On our upcoming trip, we're doing the Lilo and Stitch breakfast at Ohana. It will be our first visit to that restaurant. I hope it's good!

PollyannaMom has reached POG Pink, the TEAM and I have reached Mickey Waffle Red, and Twilight Sparkle has become Griddle Green.

We'll continue our tour of character breakfasts with a restaurant that I imagine is on many a bucket list, Cinderella's Royal Table.

You'll get assorted pastries to begin with and then you'll have your choice of five entrees: the traditional breakfast, steak tenderloin and egg, banana stuffed french toast, shrimp and grits, or a plant based traditional breakfast. Reading the descriptions, they all sound pretty good!

The Crystal Palace in Magic Kingdom has your standard breakfast buffet with residents of the Hundred Acre Wood making the rounds.

I've never eaten here for breakfast, but I have enjoyed lunch here. I love the Winnie the Pooh characters! (Eeyore was my favorite).

Next up, Garden Grill in Epcot! I have eaten breakfast here and greatly enjoyed it!
1738126148896.png
Chip and Dale are two of my all-time favorite characters to meet in the parks and their sticky bun bake was super delicious too!
1738126192533.png
This is not a buffet, but rather you get a skillet piled up with all the goodies, like bacon, potatoes, and Mickey Waffles!

Next time we make it back to Disney World, we may have to try the character breakfast at Hollywood & Vine, as it is themed around Disney Jr. characters (and we have someone in our household who is beginning to enjoy Disney Jr. programming). From Disney's website:
"Join popular Disney Junior stars for Character Dining experiences at a fun-filled breakfast.

Don't miss this chance to eat, play and laugh along with a few of your favorite Disney Junior friends during this fun and interactive dining experience.

The breakfast features assorted pastries and an omelet station. Classic entrees such as biscuits and gravy, Mickey-shaped waffles and eggs benedict are also available. Or, you can try one of our signature specialties like salmon and bagel casserole, plant-based frittata and brioche french toast with banana’s fosters sauce."

And last for today is a breakfast that a few of you have already mentioned: O'hana! From Disney:
"Lilo and Stitch, along with other friends, invite you and your ʻohana to an American breakfast influenced by Polynesian flavors.

Feast family-style as Disney Friends visit with Guests, sign autographs and pose for photos. Breakfast selections include scrambled eggs, breakfast potatoes, Stitch and Mickey waffles, ham with pineapple, a variety of fresh fruits and assorted breads."

We took our nephews to the Crystal Palace breakfast when they were young, and they adored it. We also liked Garden Grill (no kids with us that time but C&D still played with us!).

We were going to do a Rapunzel meal (I think breakfast) at Trattoria al Forno, but that trip was canceled and it looks like they aren’t doing character meals there now.

We have done Garden Grill multiple times, but only for lunch/dinner. It's one of our favorites!

I would love to do the O'Hana one sometime, and even though there are no Disney Jr. fans in our usual group, the food does sound good!

The Rapunzel meal was really fun. I'm so glad we went, and I really wish they would bring it back. The character interactions were some of the best we've had.

I've done breakfast at CRT twice and enjoyed it both times. First time there the table next to me had a young girl totally princess obsessed and a toddler boy who was clueless to what was going on until Snow White gave him a kiss on the forehead (and left a perfect red lip print), after that he eye balled every princess who went by to see if he was going to get lucky again.

Have also done Crystal Palace and Garden Grill multiple times and enjoyed both. My Crystal Palace story is that one time I was so overwhelmed by the kids running around that Pooh could see it and patted me on the head every time he went by and for Garden Grill the story is that my Sister made Pluto cry because she kept calling him Goofy.

With one day left in the month, the TEAM and I have reached Griddle Green! I'd like to take this opportunity to ask if anyone is ready to volunteer for February. I'll be under anesthesia tomorrow, so I probably shouldn't do any updates, but I'll be back later to round up final minutes.

And we'll finish our journey through the character breakfasts, starting with Ravello at the Four Seasons. This character breakfast is only available on Thursdays and Saturdays and is currently $48. It includes Bakery Basket, Sliced Fruit and your choice of Entrée, Coffee and Choice of Orange or Grapefruit Juice. The entrees look amazing, honestly with specialties served only for the character breakfast like Cowboy Frittata or a Kickin' Goat Omelette.

Next is Topolino's Terrace at the Riviera. Here is the description from Disney's website:
"Start your morning with breakfast at this beautiful rooftop restaurant offering an exclusive storybook dining experience. The prix-fixe menu offers delicious choices to please everyone in the family.

While enjoying breakfast and the bird’s-eye views, meet some of your favorite Disney friends for a perfect photo and autograph opportunity! You may find yourself mingling with Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck and Daisy Duck—stylishly dressed from head to toe in outfits unique to Topolino’s Terrace!

Breakfast begins with fresh pastries and bread. Your choice of entrées include: Quiche Gruyère with house-made pancetta, Sour Cream Waffle, Smoked Salmon, Two Eggs Any Style, and more. Whichever you select, breakfast in this charming café is an enchanting way to start your day."

(The artist Mickey is so cute!)

And lastly, Tusker House, which several of you have already mentioned. Here's what Disney's website has to say:

"A Colorful Restaurant with Character
Step inside this lively Harambe marketplace eatery and enjoy family-friendly surroundings. The plentiful buffet offers favorites for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

While you dine, say Jambo to Donald Duck, Mickey Mouse and other friends—all suited up for their next safari adventure—as they travel throughout the dining rooms.

It’s a wild good time, every time!

Favorites with a Safari Flavor
Say jambo to a delightful buffet of fantastic favorites and new discoveries!

For breakfast, munch on Safari Bread, Mickey and Simba Waffles, and Durban Chicken and Egg Curry with Jasmine Rice."
