"Slower times" what's that? LOL WDW does not like to give anything away, FD is a big cash cow for them. One interesting thing about it is that they could certainly create packages that include Genie+ or maybe even a paid LL attraction. They can use it as incentive during slower times like they did with free dining, and that may look attractive to on-site guests.

This is me! We have three teenage kids who stay up later and lie in later as the vacation goes on. With FP+ we started later, great rides were planned, arguments averted as rides chosen beforehand and it worked well to give us a stress free day at the park. The thought of having to wake up for 7am on vacation, and then have little control over what we can do makes me so sad. I may be wrong but I can’t see how this will be an improvement.I can tell you that the days when we slept in and arrived around noon, and when I did that stupid run around the park for FP-, I was greeted by a lot of kiosks that already were covered up. The most happiest day for us was when they got rid of that system and went to FP+. I would much rather pay for FP+ and be able to pick and choose and schedule my day, then this Genie crap where you will need to get up early and then it's next available time with no control of it.

Does anyone know how they handled MaxPass in DL when a ride broke down?
So would it be fair to assume they would do the same with G+? I think I would be fine with that.It was the same as if you had a paper FP. You would get an anytime that you could use for that same ride later or on a number of otehr attractions excluding a handful. Remember, they did have free FP still at that time, just MaxPass gave you better/faster access.

The bad part about it is, if it was a tier 1 ride the "anytime" FP was only good for the original FP ride and not for any other tier 1 rides. So if the original ride never opened back up, you pretty much got shafted from a tier 1 ride.It was the same as if you had a paper FP. I don’t think Early rope drop divided between 4 parks everyday will be as bad as people are saying.Rope drop for the Tier 1 “Individual Selection” rides is going to be brutal. Disney’s left guests with only two choices: pay up to $20 per person, or wait in a long standby line that moves at a snail’s pace. That’s even more incentive for everyone and their brother to stampede those rides first thing.
Resort guests will probably be able to ride one Tier 1 ride for free — IF they early-entry rope drop before the slow-moving lines build. Thing is, so many resorts are included in this “perk” that the early rope drop will still be insane.
**Offsite guests might as well sleep in, schedule their first Genie+ and purchase two Tier 1s from bed, and show up in the park later. Rope drop will be almost useless for them.**
eta: **This part was incorrect - very sorry. Offsite have to be in the park to bookTier 1Genie+. What a mess!
Let me see if I have this correct. Resort guests can reserve a Genie+ attraction each morning starting at 7am. They can also purchase a Lightning Lane pass for a headliner, also to be reserved at 7am. Add to that the reserving of the Virtual Queues for Rise and probably Remy. Am I right on this? If so, how is someone supposed to prioritize what to go for first? I mean, of course you try for the VQs of Rise or Remy if you are visiting either of those parks. But if you do, you are probably screwing yourself out of good passes for other rides.
And I have no problem being up that early. I usually am anyway for work and when at Disney, we really only sleep in on pool days. I just think that having all those things happening at 7am is crazy. They better beef up the wifi and cell towers.
You aren't further ahead. Anyone with Genie+ can book at 7 am. The only benefit for staying on site is booking IAS options. So assuming you are staying on-site.
At 7am #1) You would go for the VQ for RotR or Remy depending on your park reservation.
At 7:00:30 #2) You would book your IAS/$LL/LL+ for one or two rides.
At 7:01 #3) if you didn't already have your G+, you would buy that now and select your one ride.
By 7:05 you would have got whatever you wanted to get done one way or another. The first 2 should be pretty quick, it's the 3rd one that you may be behind a few people who are not interested in the IAS option. Overall you're still further ahead than the people who are off-site who can't book a G+ till they are in-park. If Early Magic Mornings come back, G+ may not matter as much to the Type A Planners.
What is IAS, please? You aren't further ahead. Anyone with Genie+ can book at 7 am. The only benefit for staying on site is booking IAS options.
yeah or u could pick another ride that does have a evening slot and then after 2 hours it should let u pick another one
well we are hoping there will be a time limit until u can pick another one anyway and not need to wait until the time of the ride if it is hours away
Does everyone think we will be able to scan magic bands at the LL entrance or will we need to have our phones out to scan and enter? I prefer the speed and ease of Magic bands to fumbling with my phone.
