Canadian Onsite Guests No Longer Eligible to Pre-purchase MagicBands (MBs)?

We have a trip coming up this summer and I wanted to look at MagicBands available for resort guests to pre-purchase at a reduced cost. I was surprised to see that rather than an option to order (and have shipped to resort for pick-up) as I have seen in the past, I'm now seeing this message. Is this new? Do others see the same or, are you able to pre-order MBs and have them sent to your resort?

Unfortunately, I do remember seeing some posts about this a while back. It is not all that new, maybe within the past year? It does seem strange that they won't just ship to the resort for pick up. Maybe they will honor the $10 discount and adjust your account when you arrive if you purchase bands on site?

I'll say I wasn't really looking to purchase as I'm still hoping they come out with a MB+ 2.0 that fixes many of the current bugs (charging issues, bands that fall off, etc.) but, I had planned to likely purchase once those (someday - nothing has been announced) come out. Was just disappointed with this change.

Oh well, another reason to continue using our existing bands and saving our $$,

We go once or more each year and the last time we were able to order them was summer 2023. I think Disney stopped making them available to non-US residents shortly thereafter.

If you have issues with the bands falling off, I highly recommend BitBelts or something similar which can be purchased on Amazon. Never had an issue since we started using them.

Not sure why Disney did this. They have removed some DVC perks for Canadian Owners too.

There is a workaround - all you need to do is put in a US Shipping Address on your profile AND be on the US English version of the website, not Canada. I’ve done this before and just ensured I was in the timeframe for them to ship to resort before ordering.

if you place your order 6-10 days before check in - they ship to the resort. I’ve ordered a week before check in with no issue.

Good tip. Maybe I'll look into that. I've been so sad I haven't been able to order and was looking at finally getting a new magicbamd but hate the cost.

This is amazing…. Because I too have been super cheap and refusing to pay full price for a new magic band. But explain this to me like I’m 5…..so you go on a week prior to your stay…. Put your resort address as your shipping address?? Did you leave your billing the same as your Canadian address? Mine is such a pain in the butt to change since we are in rural Saskatchewan and MDE hates my PO Box when trying to connect my credit card

What’s the window here? 7 days is enough to make sure it gets to the resort?
Time to do some pre shopping now!

How long do MB batteries last? I still have ours from 2018 and used them in 2022, but only for charges to the room and room key. Would they still work now for those tasks?

Tap features will work forever. Only long-range features eventually stop working once the battery dies (eg. automatic pictures on certain rides).
