Same restaurants every trip???

I like to try new things, but we have a few "favorites."

We really like the Sci Fi in Hollywood Studios. I've also had multiple visits to the Biergarten, Via Napoli, and Brown Derby.

Still on my "must try" list are: Yachtsman steakhouse, V&A, and Il Mulino.

We vary it up. We have the kids' favorites (Chef Mickey's, CRT) that we try to go to every trip. Then occasionally we'll get a reservation at places we've loved, but we always try two or three new places to get the best of both. And we usually find a new favorite that way. My husband and I have a trip coming up with no kids - for that one we're going to try a lot of old favorites, but more than half will be new restaurants.

Last year, we had the good fortune to visit WDW twice. For our "bonus" trip, I decided not to overschedule ADRs and to try some new things. My son (16) was on board until he realized.... wait a minute, what do you mean we're not eating at <insert any of a number of "favorite" restaurants here>?!?

The downside to trying new places is that the list of *must-dos* continues to grow!

On trip 1 and 2 it was Tusker House we repeated. Trips 2 and 3 we did O'Hana. We try not to repeat but we really liked those places. I am going solo in October and I probably won't do O'Hana this time. To be honest, if my mind don't change, it will be all new resturaunts for me. Being alone I can open myself up to more options. LOL.

I have one or two that I will repeat, and recent trips it's been The Wave or Cape May. I mix in new places to see if there's anything that's a "must do" again. I like having a familiar place just because of the hit or miss nature of some of the new places I've tried. I'd hate to have all duds on a trip.

I have family members with food allergies so pretty much have to eat at TS for every meal. We have certain favorites that we must do every trip but sometimes will try something new that on the last few trips have done that and it has become a favorite. At MK always have CP breakfast, LTT lunch, BOG dinner, and Tony's dinner. At Epcot it is Tutto lunch, CR lunch, Chefs dinner, and LC dinner. At AK it is TH breakfast and RC lunch. We go to Boma at AKL for dinner. For DHS we alternate between HBD and Sci Fi for lunch and always have dinner at 50's PTC. For most breakfasts it depends on where we stay. Last trip in Dec we were at YC for the first time so ate at CG there, Trattoria at BW, and Cape May at BC. But, we liked the last 2 so much we might eat there on an Epcot day no matter where we stay on future trips just like we always eat breakfast at WCC no matter where we stay. If we stay at a MK resort tend to have breakfasts at Kona Cafe, Chef Mickey's, and Trail's End. Possibly The Wave.

I'm about to go on my 6th Annual Solo Trip. I've made a point of trying new restaurants, but by now the balance is tipping in favor of repeats. Pizza at Via Napoli is my annual must do. This year, I'm also going back to Brown Derby for lunch and The Wave for breakfast. My new restaurants this time are going to be Jiko for dinner and 1900PF for breakfast. I'm having lunch for the first time at The Wave, although I've had breakfast and dinner there before.

Arrival night, I may try to get a last-minute ADR somewhere new; I've had my eye on Olivia's at OKW, but we'll see what's available and what I'm in the mood for.

Half and half. We always do Cape May. This last trip, we repeated at H&V - we had done the dinner 10 years before but decided to do lunch since by the time we returned, the oldest won't be into Disney Jr. and we did CP but only 3 out of 8 had been there before.

On our next trip, we'll likely do CMC as usual and repeat at 'Ohana since some of the group well go with haven't been in 10 years. But we have plans to do CM, Chefs de France, 1900, and Liberty Tree.

I do try and schedule an old standard on the last night. It didn't work out last trip - we were at San Angel and food and service were bad which wasn't the best note to end on (although the 18 hour drive home with a baby that had Hand, Foot, Mouth was worse).

I really try to mix it up; there are so many TS places we still haven't been to and my family had a tendency to go somewhere once and then be all "but we always goooooooo! It's traditionnnnnnn!" NO IT ISN'T. STOP IT.

(This post brought to you by a trip planner who's already experienced resistance to skipping Biergarten in 2018.)

We usually try one or two different restaurants if we are going for a long trip. It's hard trying something new when you have your favourites. And once we've found a new one tha we like we add it to the rotation! It seems like the Boathouse has become a new one on our list!

We usually have a few that we do go back to (especially HS since there are like 4 places to eat) I'm also really picky so sometimes it's hard to find new places. But our trip next month we are only going to new places for dinner. Brown Derby, 1900 park fare (I've wanted to eat here forever and the past 2 times i had reservations I HAD TO CANCEL THEM- ask me how annoyed I was) Sanaa and Marrakesh.

After 25+ trips, we decided on out last trip to switch it up a bit. It was also our first trip since the oh so popular BOG opened, so I wanted to make sure we got there for dinner and breakfast. Worst decision of my life (ok, not worst, but a really bad one!). Im glad I experienced it and got to see inside, and loved meeting Beast, but that is all. Food for both breakfast and lunch was terrible, IMO.

Also tried Sci-Fi instead of my favorite 50's PT at DHS. It was OK. Again, Im glad I experienced the atmosphere. The cheesecake dessert was delicious. I dont think Ill be back anytime soon.

Tried Trails End after reading rave reviews. On top of that, there was not one negative review on the thread I was reading. Ick, gross, blahhhhh. Worst restaurant ever.

Great restaurants Im glad I tried last trip...Via Napoli (dinner), Boma (breakfast) and it has been a long times since going to Les Chefs de France and absolutely loved it.

My go to's -

Character breakfasts. Any and all. Now that my youngest is 13, I have cut back on them for my upcoming trip, but you cant trade a great memory... pictures, autographs and hugs...with better food. Maybe the food isnt super special, but when you are Disney you must dine with Mickey & Friends and a princess or two!

San Angel Inn (Im a mexican food lover to begin with)

50's Prime Time (Lunch)

California Grill (Dinner)

Spirit of Aloha (Dinner)

Grand Floridian Cafe (lunch)

I also always end up at Yak and Yeti. Im glad AK added another TS. Yak and Yeti is OK, but since we have breakfast at Tusker House, our only option for dinner is Y and Y.

We have a core of restaurants that we do every time but try to throw in a few different ones to mix it up a bit. After 3 visits with mostly the same restaurants we thought we would make more of an effort to mix it up this year. (No bad experiences at the ones we've dropped - just want to try some new ones) Our new tryouts this year are going to be Mama Melrose, Hollywood Brown Derby, Jiko, Yachtsman Steakhouse, Chefs de France and Cape May Cafe. Our usual go-to's are Whispering Canyon (we stay at WL so have to have one visit) Cali Grill at fireworks time, Narcoosees. This year we've dropped Grand Floridian Cafe, Citricos, Be Our Guest and Artists Point just to mix it up a bit.

This will be our third family trip. We are revisiting Via Napoli because the kids and I love it. So does DH, but he'd be fine with something new. The metro mezzo is such a good value for our family. We're also eating lunch at Sci-Fi, which we did in 2012. TS is limited in DHS and the rest of the family chose it over 50s, which they enjoyed but wanted to change it up. I'm meh on this one. Other than these two, the eateries will be new for DH and the kids. Some will be repeats for me, like Sanaa and Blue Zoo, but with different types of meals. They made the list because I know that my family will enjoy them.

Our new TS will be the recently opened options in the Springs TBD, Biergarten, Skipper Canteen, Trail's End, and a maybe at one of the Epcot resorts. Lounges and QS will mostly be new, as well, and be decided on the fly.

Same ones. We rotate in and out a couple of them on various trips, but we definitely do 3-4 of the same ones every trip.

I mix it up. Repeats upcoming are: Via Napoli which I have only done once bit loved the carciofi pizza
Hollywood Brown Derby which I do everytime

I didn't finish the though before the above post fired off. repeats continued: Garden Grill and Artist's Point which I haven't done in 20 years.
New this trip: Teppan Edo, Flying Fish, Jungle Skipper Canteen.

we try and do a bit of both. we're doing 4 new and 6 repeats on our upcoming trip (for TS places).

we tend to do coral reef "every other" trip and its back on the plan for this one.
we had an amazing experience at san angel inn last full blown trip, so it was booked again this time.
likewise, we had a great 'ohana breakfast experience on our 'one day' in the park before a cruise last december, so we made it a priority again this time around.
the wave has quickly shot up the ranks as a 'must do' to wind down after a MK day.

lunch at liberty tree used to be a "must do" on our first MK day of a trip, but its off the agenda now due to the menu change. :confused3
