WONDERous adventures on the Panama Canal - 4/23/17

Hello everyone!! We are getting so excited for our upcoming 14 night cruise through the Panama Canal. It will be my wife Katie, our 4 year old daughter Rylie, and myself (Justin). This past May we did the 14 night transatlantic on the Magic from Port Canaveral to Dover, England. We loved it, but can't wait for the warm weather on this one. Can't wait to meet all of you on board.

Welcome! Our past two cruise have been in Northern Europe, so we are with you about the excitement of a warm cruise. Plus it is 14 WHOLE days on the Wonder!

Hi! My husband and I are going on this cruise, we signed up for it on our last cruise almost a year ago.

My husband has been wanting to do a Panama Canal Cruise for al long time, so he is excited for this!

This will be our 4th DLC trip, 2nd with out the kids, 2nd time on the Wonder.

I would like more info on the 5K group and the Fat Quarter Exchange!

Looking forward to a fun cruise!

Your dining rotation is actually printed on the bottom of your Key to the World card with a series of letters for each dining room in order.

Oh! You're so right. I have the ones from my last cruise. I was picturing the paper ones they leave in your room only but they are indeed on the keys too. Excellent. :)

We are getting excited for this cruise. DD and I watched YouTube videos of the re-imagined Wonder yesterday to get us in the spirit. Time to work on several projects for the cruise. I just read a great trip report from the EBPC. We are planning to surprise DD with BBB on this cruise as it is the last time she will be able to do it as she is 12. It is so hard to keep it a secret and have almost told her about it. We are going to really splurge and do the Royal Sea Package. It will be her birthday present this year.
Waiting for Sunday to book everything.

And don't forget that the first night at Animator's might not necessarily be the 'show' night

It is so hard to keep things a secret, especially when you are so excited for the person. How fun for your daughter to enjoy such a special last time ar BBB. It will always be a special memory for her. Happy booking!

I can't believe that DCL still does not have any info for our cruise yet! (ie. dining rotation options, formal nights, pirate night, etc.) We had two very different experiences this morning trying to get info that is usually available way before booking windows open. They don't know why they don't have the info yet. I guess we will have to go off of past Navigators and cross our fingers. Kind of weird they don't have info if everything is just staying the same as past cruises!?!?

Did platinum cruisers find any info when your window opened?

None that I have heard yet. It is making is hard to plan for a few things. We want to do Palo but not on certain nights so I am going to have to gamble and hope that it is not Frozen Night or Pirate Night. DH said to book two and we can cancel one one we get more info.

We are going to do the same. Pirate night is my least favorite menu, but since we are on this cruise as a family we don't like to miss it. It is definitely more difficult when trying to take family time into consideration. I am going to look up past Navigators and see if they are always on the same night. I know that the first formal night is usually on day 2, so that is what we are counting on there.

FYI, you are only allowed to prebook one dinner and one brunch, but not two dinners before you get on the ship. Happy planning and good luck with booking!

I think I am going to try and book Palo for Cartenga. I didn't know you could only book one, thank you for the update. We don't like Pirate Night menu, but love the dressing up as Pirates and the activities. Our last cruise we booked Palo on Pirate Night and our daughter didn't have as much fun.

Welcome aboard!

I can help with the Fat Quarter Exchange, not the 5K. The information is as follows:

"This is a fat quarter exchange for anyone who is interested in the swap. Please bring a fat quarter for each person in attendance. As we get closer to sailing, you will be updated with how many to bring. Theme: Ocean/Beach. Best if done with the same type of fabric, such as BATIK so you can make a memory keepsake. We will get together at the open restaurant on the first SEA day. We will hopefully have lunch together, but it is not necessary to stay for lunch. I will need your room number and FQ's to return your swap to you. Having done this many times on other ships, it's a great way to forge long lasting friendships that have a common bond -- quilting and cruising! "

Still plenty of time to sign up if you are interested. All you need to do is supply your name and stateroom number. Hope this answers your question. :)

Mike asks me every day about Fish Extender ......any idea when groups will be decided?
He's also counting down the days when we can finally sign up for our off shore fun.
I am the Disney (and Star Wars) Fan .Mike treated me to our first cruise (Feb 2016-with Star Wars day at sea).... took all 800 pictures for me while on the Fantasy ....waited with me when I wanted to get my picture taken with each Princess.. didn't laugh every time I cried when I hugged Mickey .. wasn't embarrassed when I wore my Mickey ears all day ....and he even wore a pirate hat and earring (without hesitation) ..Who says only kids will have fun on a Disney cruise .... we are both 55+

I am getting so excited for this cruise. We didn't get to take a family vacation last year due to DH deployment so this one is last years and this years.
We are never able to surprise our DD with anything but will be surprising her with BBB on this cruise.
We are gold level and get to book excursions and such this weekend. Yippee.
I am not sure they have Pirate Night listed yet and I am such an overplanner, I wish we knew what night Frozen was.

:welcome: to our new joiners!

we are getting very excited! we have met with our friends that are cruising with us and picked out our excursions. I plan on booking Palo dinner on Frozen night, we didn't care for the menu much. I am interested in looking at pre-booking the Rainforest Room day passes, that is new to me. and I need to get moving on my FE gift! it's started but not completed.

I'm going to update our first post with any added on events -- http://www.disboards.com/threads/wonderous-adventures-on-the-panama-canal-4-23-17.3501657/

As Molli says above, we are full steam ahead on getting events and meets finalised. We have a meet and greet set for embarkation day (details will be posted in the first post), groups are being created for private mixology classes - now is your chance to be included, if you haven't already contacted me or let me know you are interested please PM me (or post here) with your names (over 21s only please) and I will include you on the list.

We are also planning a Cabin Crawl - we still need volunteers to host from staterooms in categories, R, S and 8. If you are interested in hosting, please PM me or post below.

And, finally, we have a design for 'print your own' embarkation t-shirts - if you would like a copy of the file, please PM me or post below.

Looking forward to meeting you all in just over 3 months.

I did add in the info for t-shirts on post #1 -- just FYI -- please ask if you have trouble
