Huge Crane Next To Castle?!

It doesn't matter what they do.... there will either be:

a. a thread complaining that everything is run down and in need of repair or
b. a thread complaining that things are getting repairs

best I can tell everyone wants everything repaired, repainted and spit shined ~ just right before they get there and not while they are there. Perhaps they should close the park for a couple weeks a year for maintenance.

I have read post saying it is coming down in march. It's not always up either. They take it down before wishes and if weather is not so good. It didn't really bother us in jan. We have a few pics with crane in it. No biggy, now we will know what time if year that pic was taken lol

It was there in September too same deal, down at night. Surprised us the next morning when it was back up lol

The entire hub is going to be under some form of construction in the coming months... You just have to roll with the punches...

If this is your biggest problem you're doing ok ;)

First world problems and all...

Umm isn't everything on the DISNEY BOARD a first world problem? :confused3 So over people coming in with rude and unhelpful posts.

If you have don't have photoshop, you should be able to find someone who can do it. Most photo shops can edit anything out,

we have it in some our pictures from January & February, but not in others. My suggestion is notice which side it is on, and take a picture from opposite side...if you're taking a photo from the opposite side of the castle, sometimes the spires totally block the view of the crane...and sometimes you can maybe still see a little bit of the crane in the picture but only if you're really looking...it's better than catching a full-crane picture from Main Street.

Two good place to get lovely castle-backdrop pictures is (1) at the railing over by Sleepy Hollow restaurant...and there's usually someone sitting at the tables near there that is willing to use your camera to get a whole-family photo. That works good when the crane is on the right side of the castle (facing the castle from Main Street)

and (2) When the crane is more to the left of the castle, take a picture from the bridge that goes from Tomorrow Land to the hub...another lovely castle-background picture.

The advantage of both those spots...less people behind your group since there's a railing, water & landscaping behind you. You may have to time your shot, but most people will see you taking the photo & walk behind the picture-taker (and it is virtually impossible for some fool to photo-bomb you!) And we find there's almost always someone both locations that offers to take a picture of the whole group so everyone can get in the picture (and total strangers usually do a better job than the photopass guys)

Pp is better, but how about can put there arms up and block the crane. One of those we are all excited to be here. Or a balloon I'm the picture to block it. Something like that.

Please explain how it's rude and unhelpful, I don't get it, if you're so over a discussion board offering an opinion you're probably on the wrong board, so many opinions here.

Pretty sure I said photoshop first which you've backed up with on your post here.

Rude and unhelpful?

All those starving kids in Africa would love to see the castle with a crane or not, they'd probably love to see it from the road outside the park...

Dude the crane annoys me too >.> You are not alone.
tbh I just photoshop it out or angle/ crop my photos according to where the crane is during the trips it is there.

...when you pay good money for a Disney Vacation, you would like to think you can get a picture of the iconic castle and/or you in front of the castle without a huge crane. I have lamented about that as well.

This is just silly. What an enormous ssense of self-worth. My photo is the one entitled to perfection, and everyone else's vacation should be subject to routine maintenance. If you want a perfect picture of a perfect castle, (one that was constructed between 1970-1971), then doesn't it stand to reason that from time to time that 44 year old edifice would need to be maintained? Do you think that the Disney Board is checking to see when you are arriving to make certain that the crane is removed?

Yep. This pretty much nails it.

Now...if we were talking about the pink birthday cake covering for the 25th anniversary, then I'd be totally on board with the lamenting!

Of course your comment was rude and unhelpful. You didn't say anything about photoshop, or anything to be of assistance at all. PP is right -- EVERYTHING on this board is a first-world problem, and the OP's question about the crane is just as valid as people commenting about FP+, or ADR's, or any other topic. Why bother to post on these boards at all if all the first-world problems offend you? No one comes on the DIS to talk about real problems.

OP, I understand how frustrating it is to have the crane up, potentially ruining your pictures.

What you can do is take a picture on the same side of the castle the crane is on and pose the shot so the crane is out of the picture.

Irritating and annoying, but easy enough to try and work around.

Shouldn't this say "Soarin'" instead of "Space Mountain"?

Maybe, I dunno. I always go gratefully down whichever concourse they send me while contritely mulling over the greater problems of the world.

We have been when the crane has been up behind the castle. It gave me pause for a moment and then I remember - heck! I'm in Disney World! No reason to complain over something as silly as a crane!
:confused3

Whoa there, step down off your high horse!

The post didn't offend me at all, I find it amusing.

Read my first reply to the OP, pretty sure photoshop was the solution I offered first up.

Have a nice night all, I know you will :rotfl:
