P.O.T.C. On Stranger Rides! The Missing Chapter,,Final Thoughts,, Preview Thoughts.

Great video.

I never saw them when I was there. Seems like they keep eliminating little things that might not seem too important to them, but mean a lot to us.

I pray they don't end up like Universal. A soul-less park with just a bunch of rides and not much else!

Jay

Are you trying to make me cry this afternoon? I have to be able to function... they pay me to be here, you know! I just want to rush home, gather up my grandchildren, hug them, and tell them it isn't so!

I SOOOO!! miss "four for a Dollar"!!! I hate it that Disney has cut out so much of the little stuff, the "extras".

the last time we saw the SPectro parade, we noticed how much they cut back, there were hardly any of the dancing fairies between the floats. then they axed it totally... I hear they are bringing it back.. i really hope so!!!

we did not like the Electic parade at all.. way too 80s' "techno".

we do SO miss this very talented acapella group at the beauty and the beast show!

OT but I just started reading Lunatics by Dave Barry and Alan Zweibel. Reminds me of a day in the life of Nebo. Have you read it?

I have read Dave Berry.. but not THAT one.

the first dave berry book I read, about travel, I told nebo, "you are much funnier.. why don't you write a book?"

(but dave berry is funny)

but every once in a while we have a columnist in our local paper, lasts about a year or two.. who just writes about, well, whatever they want. a commentary on life, things, etc. supposedly humour.. and sometimes I "kinda" laugh..meh, got a little chuckle out of me... and tell nebo, "honey!!! you could DO this! youwould be SO much better!" the Readers Digest has one a while ago, forget her name,, she wasn't as funny as nebo..

Actually, so far this book is not as funny as Nebo but I think you will both totally relate to the subject matter.

What is the name of your columnist? Is he online?

Doesn't anybody in disland know a publisher?? Maybe Nebo should start his own Blog. People get discovered on blogs all the time

Been bunches and bunches of times
First time Aug 1971 and all we saw was the welcome center

Speaking of funny, I am betting there is a really good story behind this tag line. Have you told it here on Dis yet? If yes, can you post a link, if not, DO TELL... :surfweb:

Note: there is a little bell in the back of my head ringin' saying I may have seen the story somewhere. Did you already related it on one of the Nebo TR's? I find that the brain cells don't fire as quick in the second half century of life...

No real story, we were vacationing in Florida and happened to be in the area so we thought we would check it out. We knew it wasn't opened yet but tought we could just drive right up and at least see Magic Kingdom from the road or something. I Remember driving down a long tree lined road for what seemed like miles and we came upon a construction trailer that was the "Welcome Center". Inside It had a mock up of the area, some brochures and that's all I remember. That was as far as they would let anyone go so we turned around and went on our way. Can you imagine the disappointment for 2 young kids? I thought I'd never get that close again. Little did I know that one day my own daughter would actually work there!!!

Thanks for asking

Irene

Well I guess my memory doesn't serve me so well (happens when you are in the second half tof the century). I did a little research and found this. http://www.omniluxe.net/wyw/prvwctr.htm

Not the way I remember it but I was there.

Funny how different your memory is from the actual building.
You were there so close to the date it opened; it could have been the best trip of your childhood if it had been just a few months later!

We stayed in Ranchos 7B a couple of years ago and had a view of the pool. We loved CSR especially because it is a convention resort and the pools and buses are never crowded. You don't have the conventioneers playing that towel on the lunger and leaving for the day game that everyone seems to play in the other resorts.

Nebo, we have had some changes to our August trip. We have added a few days. We will arrive on July 28th!! We will leave on August 11th so it will be a nice, long trip! :thumbsup2

I hope you and Smidgy are getting ready for your upcoming trip! I can't wait to hear about it!! ;)

oh my gosh I have been away way too long. Just finished reading about the dentist. I hear ya on that one. When I had my teeth pulled I also remember the noise. She got to the last three and they were infected so I had to come back the next day after mass amounts of antibiotics (she wanted me to just come back a week later yeah like I am going to work with nothing but 3 teeth in my head) They did give me some nice happy pills tho'
Been trying to sell the hubby on an end of May trip. Any reccommendations on a great value (he really likes the mods so a value will be a hard sell)
And yes I think nebo needs to write a book... just the dis folks alone should get it on the bestseller list. Much easier to read all the tr of the past than on the ever sloooooowww dis.
But seriously which is the best of the values?

Ahh, the Preview Center. I went there as well. Then in 1977-79 I actually worked there. Not the Preview Center then anymore, but the check in building for the Town and Treehouses (Fairway villas later too). Plus it housed some other backstage function for those areas, like Finance (me) and the GM of the area. It was very convenient parking and very pretty lake out back (I even had an office with a view of it). Today it houses some Sports league offices.

Wow, that's great. The whole time at WL? We have moved our Lewow to Aug 2 at 5:15, more than likely we will hang around the Poly afterward to watch the fireworks and water pageant, if you're not doing anything maybe you can swim over and join us? You sure can't watch them from the Lodge except through a tiny window in and emergency exit door on the fifth floor.

I hope you and Smidgy are getting ready for your upcoming trip! I can't wait to hear about it!! ;)

I agee totally on the "conventioners'" efffect, but sometimes wives will talk hubbies to bring them along with the kids and take up space at the pools, and good luck if a banquet hall meeting ends and they all rush the food court at once, but never had a problem at a bus stop, and only once saw teh food court rush.
Your 7-B room sounds like just whjat we are hoping for, bnut if we can't get it, then I'm at a loss as to what to request.

OT but I just started reading Lunatics by Dave Barry and Alan Zweibel. Reminds me of a day in the life of Nebo. Have you read it?

i like Dave a lot, he was a good student.
No, really, if I had to say who my mentor would be,, that would be easy,,, no doubt a bout it, I was a huge fan of the stylye of writing and humor of Erma Bombeck.
The world suffered a great loss when she died prematurely.

Hi Qb, Geesh, even with editting, there's enough in these report for at least 2 good books I think. And I would have liked to do a series,,, after a Nebo and Smidgy Conquer Disneyworld,, then a Nebo and Smidgy Conquer Florida,,,, and then Vegas,,, Grand Canyon,,, Rockies,,, a Caribbean Cruise,,,,,, and of course we would have to do all these things so I could write about them,,,,,
Well, that was my dream when I started doing this, Oh well, at least we still have fun, here, I think.

Hey, I think Ponzi leaves in less than a week for Hawaii, and now we have less than 3 weeks till we leave, getting excited now, can't wait to get back to CS, been over 4 years since we stayed there.
And a whole trip of Counter service meals!
Anybody got any different and clever ways of using counter service credits? I know Jay and Jack Spence from All Ears say don't miss the Black Forest Ham sandwich at Starring Rolls, and at Pepper Market for dinner they have a rib eye I think still that's a counter service credit, hard to pass up a 23 dollar counterservice meal, you know?

Let's see,
Had a great pork chop meal at Sunshine Seasons not too long ago,,,,of course there is always Flame Tree BBQ,,,,
and I think there are some interesting ideas at Wolfgang Puck Express at DD,, like a meatloaf dinner that fall under a CS meal.

I do wish there was a way where you could turn in 2 CService meals into one table service though, to at least get in one sid down dinner in. And gee, what do we do now with the Planet Hollywood voucher?

Here's something else I'm looking for help on, maybe Marita? You can find out? What's going on about the Test Track refurb? Is that delayed? ANd for how long? It was originally going to close on April 15 , I think,, heck, thyat's next week and I don't hear anything about it now.
I'd give anything for my son and Jackson to be able to ride it in August, last time Todd was in Epcot Test Track was World of Motion!

By the way,, our flight is at 6,,, Smidgy reserved a taxi to pick us up at 3:30 in the m orning! Yipes!

\ (Ok gotta run,,, I really would appreciate any info on Test Track though.

Nebo, I have no idea about the test track refurb, you are better off watching the DIs for that than ask me, LOL.

As for counter service meals, I highly recommend the build you own pasta station at POR (including shimp or chicken). It's delicious and a huge portion, I usually get 2 or 3 lunches out of it.

Can't wait for you to get back from you vacation already! And have a great time :wizard:

Hey, I think Ponzi leaves in less than a week for Hawaii

:cool1: 5 days to go!!! (not that I'm counting or anything... :rolleyes1)
Haven't forgotten the TR. Just figure there's not much point in starting it before I go, unless Nebo is ready to shut this one down and people need a place to play. :confused3

Orlando Sentinel is reporting that it's been confirmed for April 16 shut down until sometime in the fall. Here's the link:

April 16th closing has been confirmed by someone at Disney. And it will open sometime in the fall - I've heard the end of September. I've been keeping track of the efforts here on the DIS to pin down the dates because of my Sept-Oct trip with my 7-year-old grandson. BTMR and TT will probably be big favorites with him.

Definitely agree, I miss her too!

When on QSDP, we enjoy the 1/2 chicken/ 1/2 rack rib plate at Cosmic Ray's! Plenty enough to share, even.

And pretty much ANYTHING at Wolfgang Puck Express is big enough to share, at any meal!

Totally agree about the pasta dinner at POR, too!
:thumbsup2

Nebo, the Poly beach meet sounds like a great idea! I don't think we have any plans for the evening of August 2nd. We may eat at Captain Cook's that night. DD loves grilled cheese and they have a good one.

The story of where we are staying on the first leg of the August trip changed with the general public discounts. WL only has a 5% discount and since we did receive a tax refund, we moved to the BC for the first week as the discount is 25% for it. The amazing thing is that we added a few days and the price is staying the same!! Now if we can get that corner room near the secret gate in close proximity to Epcot.....time to use the Nebo room shakedown strategy! ;)

If an AP comes out with a better percentage discount we may switch again, but for now it's BC for the first week, WL for the second week.

I really hate that TT will be closed. DS loves that ride so much and I know Jackson would have been thrilled with it. The scary part is that there are rumors that BTMRR may be closed beyond the initial slated date to reopen sometime in August. I would really hate it if we missed both of them. DD is just now 40 inches and she has been so stoked to ride them both. :sad2:

Pkondz, I am so excited for you on your upcoming Hawaii vacation!! I can't wait to hear about it! :thumbsup2
