I love spicy Indian and Kim Chee!! But you can keep all the pickled herring you want...

Well done on your math exam! I am really not sure how much I remember of all the math I learned at school. Pythagoras is one thing, but give me sinus and cosinus (ok, just checked, you might call it sine function... :confused3)and I would be absolutely lost. Or a vector! :scared1: And I was a straight A student in math!

Good luck with your course, it sounds really exciting! I think it is nice that you get to go to college with your daughter! :goodvibes

Mmmmm..... lovely vinagary fishies!! Have you ever tried them in sour cream? ZOWIE- so yummy!

Yes, a sinus is what the Land gets their "solid media" from. :lmao::lmao::lmao: I never got far enough to get the sine or cosine stuff.... Guess it's time to start. I was an A student AFTER I started college math. Before that- UGH!!

Here's a bit of a secret fear: I really hope it doesn't turn into an even PERCEIVED (on her part) competition. Math is challenging for her, and if I get an A, I would hope she would never think I am gloating. We just figured out our schedule though, and we'll be driving into school Tues and Thursdays together - I'll take math, she'll be in World history.

:rotfl2: Exactly! As the saying goes, behind every great man is a woman rolling her eyes.

Liesa: congratulations on passing the test! :woohoo:

Thanks!!

I'll have to remember that amazing piece of wisdom! And roll my eyes more than I do.

way to go on going back to school.

and to think an innocent woman like you making a comment like that about the poor old banana tree.
:sad2:

Thanks, Dan! It's an exciting chapter about to begin!

As for the "poor banana tree"- he looks neither "Poor" or "old". :lmao:

Oh I hope your fear is absolutely without reason! Relearning something will always be so much easier than learning something for the first time, so it really isn't comparable at all! And you won't be in the same class anyway!

And driving into school together sounds good! I think you mentioned that she normally has to take a bus? Is this Rebecca's last year at school or will she have another year?

Hilarious seed-y posts, Liesa!

And congrats on your non-Disney life news! It sounds like a wonderful decision, both for you and for your family. I have quite a few friends who went back to school for nursing over the past few years, and they are all very happy that they did -- I'm sure you will be, too!

You? an A?! :lmao: ;) (you lost 50% of all brain mass with each kid, 'member?)

Oh don't worry! ;) It'll work out fine I'm sure! Besides, I'm not taking ANY math this coming term, so I can relax....and help Mom out with her math, since I'm just finishing this course up!

Yes, I was taking the bus...It's an hour and ten minutes one way. Bleh. And I'll be in school another two years probably, at the Community College.

Both of my sisters had that same problem of passing out at blood, but ironically, one turned out to be a dental hygienist, and the other an RN who works in the NutHouse, as she tenderly refers to her psych ward :sad2:. She's been physically attacked several times, and yet, still remains true to her calling. If they can do it, I know you can too!!!

Thanks for your vote of confidence but at 43 I still pass out so I don't think it's going to go away.

Congrats on you math score!

It was such a great tour! I think I may research the other tour options to see what's out there for a future trip.

I really need to do more research on the life news as well. I just know for sure I need a new/additional direction for my free time- which grows as the kids do.

That's true. I think most of it will be review for me.

We finally, after taking another look at the class offerings, found something that works for us to drive in at the same time for. YAY! It is a complicated route she is taking to do her coursework- very non-traditional. Instead of actually finishing high school in a traditional high school she is working in what's called a Charter school that uses money that would normallly go TO a school to let her take up to 12 credits free at a community college. so while she is working towards classes that would normally get her to graduation, she is taking college level courses that will count towards BOTH. So she is getting college credits. HERE is the clinker: since she's been homeschooled until last year, no traditional schools here in Oregon at least, will not accept any of those courses or work she's done- which is completetly stupid, but that's neither here nor there. In short, she won't have had an oppotunity to be in the Charter long enough to accumulate enough high school/ (any) courses to graduate in the normal way, so when she feels she wants to move on, I'll just write a homeschool diploma. Meantime, she is starting to take courses to work towards those pre-requisites needed to be accepted into the nursing program like myself. So, theoretically, she needs about 2 years until she can apply to a nursing program, which in turn is a 2 year program- equalling about a 4 year degree.

:lmao::lmao:

Why can't you come up with this kind of stuff around the dinner table, Mom??

I try...

Yes!! I will need LOTS of help!! (Since YOU stole the 2nd percentage loss of my brain)

Thanks!! It was amazing how much came back as I sat there!

There must be a formula to calculate your mother's brain mass? I think it involves something called "n"????

Great to see you on here Bekka!! :goodvibes

Not taking the exact same course sounds like a good thing! But then I see that you are moving on to the same profession as your mother! What a wonderful choice, I hope you will be happy and succesful with it.

Not taking the hour long bus must then be quite a treat. :goodvibes

Ok, I mainly understood that it is complicated... To be honest the systems of higher education in the US always confuses me. But it sounds like you found a way to make Bekka's education work out which must the prime concern! :thumbsup2

Bek will still have to take the bus into town in Mondays and Wednesdays.

It's only complicated it you veer off the regular path of high school straight onto either a 2 year technical program such as a mechanic, a pharmacy tech, an office manager, etc..at a community college or accredited program, OR a higher degree (BS, MS,etc...) at a university.

Hi Liesa! Had a little time to get all caught up! Loved the Behind the Seeds Tour! Looks like some really cool info! I am always impressed with all the different methods they use to grow plants.

I know, it's a hard one to keep up with! But great to have you back again!! Thanks for wishing me luck, Kim. It's a long road ahead, but one I'm excited for.

Glad you enjoyed Alisha's Seedy Tour. :thumbsup2

Welcome to my world!!! :rotfl2:

Just about gardening season here! Time to not even come close to what they do in The Land- nevertheless, I"m late in dormant spraying the trees and clipping the ferns. And let's not even mention planting the cold crops. :sad2:

Hopefully, I can get one last update squeezed onto this thread sometime either today or tomorrow. Next up....

Taking the Rosy path to Taking Down Lunch!

sliding in before this one gets closed

:faint:

My daughter is sitting her beside me getting ready to take a spelling test, and just asked my why I was crying. Words won't come....

I have so much to tell you, and can't wait to share a few words. Gotta get a hold of my emotional self over how much I've missed you and how far I know you've come and, and, and. Oh Jordan- it's just so good to "see" you!!:hug:
