The Monday-Thursday you saw were offdate options. Nobody grabbed the event for the original Saturday date, so other dates were offered. The events run for one day at a location. Once you booked the day, the event was considered filled, so the other dates were no longer available. Offdates also pay less than when the event runs on the date it was originally scheduled for.

What did you purchase for $.75? I have a dog and don't know anything I could buy for her at that price. Could I buy a can of cat food and then donate the food somewhere?

Ours has candy and gum up by the checkout, so that might be an option.

Holy cow, 528 pages? I don't have time to read them all tonight, lol. I don't know if anyone has mentioned it yet, but do you have to report this kind of income if it's under $600 a year? Or is it different from regular employment because it's considered self-employment?

This was already answered, but I wanted to add that they take federal and social security taxes out of these earnings, but not state tax (at least for me).

Thanks to those who replied to set me straight, I appreciate it! :) I will definitely look into it and hopefully find someone to keep my 3 year old while I work.

Oh my, I have my first transvestite today. Asked what appeared to be a nice looking, muscular woman if she wanted to sample some new cosmetics and “she” said “no thanks”. “Her” voices was still “male”. Anyways, WM did not have the University Medical product. Couldn’t answer about price or even give a brochure. Referred a lot to the website. The shade sensing Almay didn’t sell like I though it would. Sold 4 out of 63. It wasn’t as slow of a day as I would have thought.

Ok, I understand that, but your answer creates another question.

This event just showed up for the first time yesterday evening showing the dates of 20, 22, 23, 24, 25. I wanted to snag today's date, but couldn't because I haven't received my starter kit yet. So, this morning I went to the site and today's date was already snagged, but Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday was still showing up. I grabbed Wednesday with the hopes my kit will be in by then. If someone had already snagged today's date, why did the rest of the week days show up.

Sorry for all the questions, just trying to learn how it all works.

No one snagged today's date. They never list todays date. Only future dates. So if you wanted to book today, you would have had to have done it last night, not today. lol Does that make sense?

I'm so glad I rescheduled todays event for Monday because of my head cold because today its in the hacking up a lung / face turning red stage --and i'm deaf from fluid in my ears. Not pretty. Its getting better (or different) every day but I hate how they take sooooooo long & really set in.

OK guys, advice needed on a really bozo mistake! I did the Suave/Dove event today. I was feeling really crummy the last hour and didn't realize until I got home that I didn't turn in what was left of the 2 sample bottles I purchased to the front desk. Now had I just taken them home by mistake, I would feel less stupid. What I did was return them to the shelf with the bottles I didn't sell! I had so few people sample that the bottles must have felt pretty full so I didn't notice. I had such an upset stomach that I couldn't wait to be done today, so I guess I was a little flaky at cleanup time! Do I call the store, go back tomorrow, or forget it? I'm envisioning having to explain to a dozen people why I am trying to take open bottles off the shelf!

kpauley There isn't much for .75 at Petco. there are some small stuff by the cash registers. Good luck.

LParente I don't think I would worry about it. It would be hard to explain it to the store people.

Don't worry about it! I see lotion bottles at CVS with the spout up all the time. People like to be able to smell the lotion and the store will stick it in the breakroom after they find it.

What I started doing on these demos is to bring a Sharpie and write "TESTER" on the front and back of each bottle. If I have 2, I leave one at the service counter and one at the pharmacy. Walmart often has testers of all their health and beauty products like this so they usually don't mind me putting it on the shelves, but Kmart never has testers.

What'd you think of that Suave lotion? I loved it - it's better than the Bath and Body Works lotions I think, feels smoother and isn't greasy at all.

I don't know if you saw Kmarts monthly flyer (doesn't go in the newspaper ads), but they have a specials through 11-12 where if you buy one of the new Caress infusion bodywashes and another Caress bodywash, you get a $5 coupon at checkout towards any ladies clothing items in the nightgown/bra/undie section. Combined with those coupons we had today for $1 off each, that's a really great deal. Also, I pushed the special that gave a free tote by mail for buying Dove products and Kmart is doing a bonus one with a free wristlet too. There are also great P&G mfg. coupons in that flyer.

I had a great day, but boring - loved the display, except mine didn't have the middle support pieces for the table so it was pretty unstable. Going to make a nice lemonade stand next summer lol I liked the lab coat too, but I think it was dumb to require us to wear a black baseball cap with a lab coat.

Sorry about your stomach! I hope it wasn't one of those needing to run to the bathroom things, there's nothing worse than that.

I love the idea of writing "TESTER" on the bottles. I'll have to remember that. I loved the Suave lotion too. I'll have to pick some up. I said some naughty words when trying to assemble that table. Mine had no center support either. Were your table, brochures, and coupons in Spanish? Mine were. This wasn't a predominately Spanish speaking area, so :confused3 Luckily I was set up near the ladies room because I had to make a few visits that last hour! I stopped putting my break sign up. I was back faster than I could have put it out! Thanks for the help!

Looks like the job drought has finally hit my area. I have plenty for the rest of this month and next month is almost full as well but I'm getting concerned about December. Maybe it's a little early to start worrying but it freaks me out a little when I go to check for events and there are two and are on days I'm already working... *sigh*

I do have one for December and I'm thankful that I had so many this month and next month. Hopefully they will start showing up soon. :)

Are we, or are we not, supposed to sign in as vendors?

Yesterday, as I was waiting at the service desk at Walmart for a manager to sign my report form, an auditor from another demo company threw a fit because I didn't sign out as a vendor. She claimed she "used" to work for MC, and knew it was in my paperwork to sign in and out. I showed her my event paperwork and told her it doesn't say anywhere that we are supposed to sign the vendor book. She then claimed it was in my "other" paperwork. The service desk gal took me to a manager (only for the report form) and apoligized on the way for this woman's behavior. This woman then came over and talked to me in front of the manager about signing the vendor book.
None of the employees I've ever asked know if I'm supposed to sign, and tell me not to worry about it. This was the first time in almost 2 years I've had to sign.

Now, at ST, I have to sign in as a guest (they say it's to show who is in the building if there is a fire or other emergency). But not as a vendor.

Anyone know for sure?
Walmart does not seem to care, and I don't want to spend more time at the service desk waiting for someone to get the book if I don't have to.

I don't recall it being in paperwork, but it was brought here once, maybe by BRivers, so I started signing. I notice the other demo companies also sign. We don't have a section in the book, so I sign the general sheet that is usually up front.

Funny thing, I sign at Walmarts because the books are just there. I sign at a few Kmarts if the book is out. I only do 1 Target & I don't even know where there book is. lol I guess I need to be more consistent.

I sign in & out when I first arrive at the store. That's what other people appear to do, so that's what I do. :confused3

Honestly, in the years that I was an asst front end manager for a grocery store, I'm not aware of any vendor log book.....if we had one. I wonder if it was kept by the grocery manager instead?

Last December, word on the street was that stores didn't want us there in December. Aisles too crowded already with displays & people.

Seems like a missed golden opportunity, but we mostly had wine events at liquor stores last December.

Can you explain this coupon deal thing more? I'm doing this event Monday.

And what did the table look like?

I'm doubting the lab coat will fit my 1x-2x body.

Well, I'm a new employee and there's nothing in the paperwork saying you have to sign in. The only thing of that nature is to introduce yourself to the Store/Department Manager.

I'll try.. There should be a flyer that looks like an ad on the service counter. Inside it are sales that last through November 12th. In the middle, there is a section about Dove, that says that when you buy $15 of Dove products and send in your receipts, you get a free brown quilted tote bag, and as a bonus through Kmart, if you spend $25, you get a matching wristlet. The service counter should have the mail-in form for the Dove.

In that same ad, there is a section about the Caress deal. What I did was cut them both out and had them on the table with me to show people.

In the kit are coupon books for Dove, Suave and Caress products. There is $1 off the Caress body wash that works with the promo to give the $5 off women's intimate clothing. When you check out, the catalina printer (coupon printer) prints out the $5 gift certificate for that. The catalina printer was also printing coupons for anyone who buys Dove products yesterday - like $1 off Pond's Towelettes.

It'll be harder for you on Monday, because yesterday, nearly every single Dove item was on sale, but some of them on deals that last through November 12th - find out what's still on sale and push that - I'm sure it'll be one of our promoting products. I also said I thought the Suave Exhale were better that Bath and Body Works Breath products (they are copying them, the colors are all the same).

I don't know how to explain that damn table - it's flat-packed and it makes a semi-circle - the two ends are supposed to expand into circular shapes and the top is supposed to velcro-on, but it doesn't have the top center support or the middle center support, so be careful. Here is a pic:

The lab coat will be okay if you keep it open, mine was a size 12 (oy! - I wish)
