The Villas at Disney's Grand Californian Owners & Lovers Group - 3.0

I once went to OBB on a Saturday night. Though it was a special one as part of a D23 Expo. But yes, Saturday night would be nice because sometimes we go for just a long weekend (believe it or not, given we live in NC 😆) and the party nights only work for us if Monday happens to be a holiday, which is rare, or we end up having to take a day off
FYI ; OBB nights expanded greatly this year all the way into August now. Hopefully that allows for access before school restarts.

Columbus weekend Sunday is a very popular night and goes pretty quickly because of your very reason.

Interestingly, our typical OBB night this year, last tuesday, the amount of kids were dramatically lower this year.

That's because OBB isn't for kids anymore. The adults have taken over.
That could almost be said for Disney as a corporation. Did anyone ask for hard alcohol in their Schmoozies? Does everything need to be about getting buzzed?

I’m fine with some beer/wine/cocktail at the sit down restaurants…. but does a theme park need to be one giant bar?

Exactly - as long as hotel occupancy remains high; Disney will have no interest in policing DVC activities. They know that renting out happens and very much okay with it as renters probably have a much higher spend rate compared to long term DVCers -- especially those weeklong stays at WDW.

We book multiple dates in Oct for OBB given its uncertainty for sure and would be pretty upset at DVC if they restricted our points for our home resort unless they give us guaranteed tickets to go with that restriction (yeah, when Hades comes and hugs us!)
Honestly, DVC should listen to you. It’s a perk that would cost them (nearly?) nothing and might help them sell more VDH, especially if they made it a Y card benefit, like MM. “Direct owners a with booking get advance purchase window before all but top tier keyholders.”

We planned our trip around OBB this year and honestly it's not something I feel like we need to do every year with a 5 year old especially with the prices as they are. DCA itself is not particularly kid-friendly to begin with and with the villains being the best part of OBB you really need a kid into villains to get your money's worth with OBB. Going forward I would probably alternate going during Halloween and Holidays since we aren't local and only do 1-2 trips a year. We also could do without the 5lbs of treats from the treat trails that came back with us.

Conversation in my house today:

Wife: Our son’s friend is sick and can’t go trick or treating with him, so I figured you could go with him instead.

Me: Oh, poor guy. Of course! What costume is he wearing?

Wife: I think his Dash costume. Don’t you have a Mr. Incredible Costume?

Me: Yeah, we never wore them… Let me find it… oh… it’s a M/L… I’m probably more of a L/XL now…. but we can give it a try…

Wife: 🤣🤣🤣

Me: Is it that bad?

Wife: No, it’s fine.

Me: You know, there is a Mrs. Incredible costume in the closet too…

Wife: If you want ANY action tonight you will not ask me to fit in that costume…

Me: Right then, just me in a costume.

3 Hours Later:

Wife: He doesn’t want to be Dash, he wants to be Han Solo?

Me: Probably for the best. Can I be a Jedi…. or I can use my Savi’s lightsaber and be a Sith!

Son: No, Dad. I am the Sith of the family, you get to be a Jedi…

Me: Right then… Jedi… now…. what festive cocktails shall I make this evening….
