Mark,

I saw the photos of your set up. It's amazing what you can do!

I'm sure I'll see you in a pop up one day.

here is our set up
1999 F-350 power stroke crew cab dually
2001 36' Signature 5th wheel with 3 slides
Can't wait until next Christmas to be camping with Mickey:teeth:

We have an old Coleman popup that needs a new canvas pulled with a '93 extend cab Chevy with a 5.7 engine. Dec. '04 will be our first to FW but now I feel like I may get criticized seeing the big rigs that stay there but this is the only way we will be able to afford to go for awhile.

Believe me, nobody criticizes anybody at Ft. Wilderness. Everybody are friends there. You will see everything from a little pup tent, to converted vans, old VW campers, popups of all sizes, shapes, and conditions, to the big custom rigs.

Just relax and enjoy all that Ft. Wilderness has to offer!!

Nobody criticizes anybody at FW that I know of. We had our Coleman Roanoke Royal for 8.5 years before we bought our SunnyBrook. As a matter of fact we still have it and use it quite often. We pulled it with our old minivan many times to FW.

I know you will have a blast on your trip there.

One of the things we enjoy about staying at Fort Wilderness is cruising around on the golf cart checking out all the other rigs and different set ups people have. Everyone camps to their taste and we think that is cool. We have definitely met some people from all walks of life just trying to have a nice vacation. It's not what you stay in, it is how much fun you have while on vacation!:p

Our origianal setup was a 9x13 Coleman tent (we still have it) and all the portable stuff packed into the back of a Ford Windstar. That included the dog and her crate. I surely do not miss sleeping on the ground.

1998 GMC Yukon 5.7L, I believe, and 63,000 miles. (I want a new one :( .)

2003 Keystone Outback 25 RSS -- just like in the pictures -- http://www.keystone-outback.com

I had to visit the website, because I forgot what it looked like. LOL.

BTW, although we have stayed in my in-laws Bounder at FW, we've never driven down. We are hoping to do so this summer -- if the Yukon is still alive. ;)

Gee, I would think that the Yukon with that many miles would have a lot of life left in it. You should be able to haul that Keystone down to FW with no problems. ::MickeyMo

Man our 1999 F-350 diesel has 100,000 miles on it and she's just gettin broke in.:D

The Yukon is six years old and the 63,000 miles are mostly city miles in the "salt" city. It's starting to develop moans and groans, clicks and clacks. This summer I had it in, because the anti locks were coming on at slow speed stops. Apparently this is a common problem up here. The road salt corrodes the wiring. Luckily they were able to fix it with not much cost to me.

Also, the air conditioner died. Seeing that it has two condensers(or something like that ;) ), it would have cost over $1,000 to fix. I told them "no thanks". We can live without it. We only have two hot months here, and I don't tow with the air conditioning on anyway.

BUT, from what you are saying, these trucks usually have a long life. That makes me feel better. I'm spoiled. I don't think I've ever owned a car longer than three or four years. But then again, I've never owned a car that would cost this much to replace.

We have a 1999 Fleetwood Prowler 29'. Our tow vehicle is a 1998 5.9 V8 Dodge Durango. Yes, I know, many people think this is not a good combination. We have towed the trailer to South Dakota, Washington D.C., Denver and to Fort Wilderness twice with no problems whatsoever. This includes some very windy conditions and going up and down mountains. I guess it probably helps that the hubby used to drive a semi. :) Our next trip to Fort Wilderness will be this September.

Micki, there are people out there who think if you're going to haul a pop up, you need a semi. I think if your trailer is within the weight limits of your tow vehicle and you feel comfortable pulling it, then you don't have a mismatch at all.

Bichon Barb: I know that the salt has got to be brutal on a vehicle.I know when we go to New York for Christmas the first thing we do when we get a little south is wash the road salt off the truck. All we have in Florida is the Baking HOT sun!
We use our truck for alot of long distant driving I like to say from Maine to Spain, she has been there! Most of the miles our truck has on her are from over the road. In the same breath it is my personal vehicle also, so alot of city miles. Still runs like a champ. I guess we got lucky with this one. :)
