Slipping thread save. Dad God willing will be here within an hour God's forever grace, I had two very good pt sessions today. I did walking and worked on balancing. Such a true blessing to know I'm heading closer to out of here!

During my first pt session I went by my room. The door was wide open and I saw a man in his bed where my bed goes. I also saw (but didn't have time to read) the warning notice that he is in isolation that's posted on the wall by the door. During my second pt session I went the other way and got to talk briefly with my very favorite nurse whose mother has sure been a true blessing to me also. The two of them will always have a place in my heart. I would love to stay in touch when I get out of here. I even got to say good morning to another sweet nurse who I know better.

Thank God I still have this room to myself. I would love for this to last! We shall see. I will update later on anything I find out more about the other room. Have a great afternoon friends. Hugs to all.

Good Afternoon

The weather here was so nice over the weekend and now has been on the chilly side again. The fact that I had a stomach bug didn't help much.

The saga with dad is ongoing. Yesterday my youngest called me quite angry. Partly because she had things to do but mostly because she was driving all over, looking for "lemon sticks". Something the hospital should have told my mom about and she was just beyond angry that her grandfather got horrible care. Dad was sent home to the house with my mom getting ZERO instructions on how to care for him. I argued with mom to no avail that he needed something to keep his mouth moist. Mom said NO!!! She is so afraid of him getting sick again and I understand that, but it has been 10 days and no moisture in his mouth. I knew from my grandmother that they had something like a sponge to moisten her lips and mouth. I was right. His mouth was so dried out that he was close to getting an infection again with all the caked on dried mucus in his mouth. The speech therapist had been out to see dad and mom had him call my Beth. He was hoping she could get some from her hospital, but she was off yesterday. She went all over and found what was needed and also got some tablets to help with dry mouth. The speech therapist, visiting nurse and physical therapist are all angered over the way he his care has been handled. PT has said he needs her 3 days a week not 2 and she is coming out for the 3 days. Thankfully the speech therapist set up another swallow test for him tomorrow so hopefully we can get him on pureed foods and then solids again soon. The consensus was that the feeding tube was to be a backup for when he was out of it. Dad falls asleep a lot and the fear is that he will aspirate because he forgets to swallow, or just falls asleep mid mouthful of food. That was my understanding from the meeting we had and that was what the orders were supposed to be, but they never told my mom or instructed her on what to look for and when to do pureed foods. She was also upset because she thinks dad is getting dehydrated which is not good for his failing kidneys. They never informed her that he can get water in the feeding tube too. Between Beth and the speech therapist she can now give him ice chips, water through the tube and has what is needed to take care of his mouth. I think part of this was due to the fact that the hospital wants dad hospitalized again so they can force mom to put him in a home. That will NEVER happen. They didn't want her taking him home this last time. the mood I am in they better be glad I am still not feeling 100%. Beth did say dad was really alert and joking a lot although he forgot who she was for a minute. He told my mom she is lucky to have married him as he was a catch!

On top of everything else I had to deal with a meeting with my granddaughter and her now former managers. She quit because she couldn't take the hostile work environment she was subjected to and the fact that she was indecently "assaulted" by a female co-worker and nothing was done. Crystal was actually getting physically ill from everything because she felt as though the managers didn't care. I think the issue is more complicated than that. Part of it is that the managers perspective is that it's easier to lose one worker no matter how good she is and they like her than it is to fire 3 workers and be woefully understaffed. Not right but I get it. The bigger issue is that Crystal has been a victim of bullying since she was a toddler. The worst was in middle school when she was being tormented and the vice principal and her teacher did nothing. She has zero self esteem because of it and can take things really hard. I told Crystal that she needs to keep seeing her therapist and maybe concentrate more on school for a semester.

The house is coming along. The bathroom is roughed in and the electrical work is almost done. The basement was completely rewired. The walls will get started over the weekend. The furniture was ordered last week but is on back order so that worked out. The plumber never called or came back to finish the work. I learned an expensive lesson there. Never pay until the work is completed and don correctly. I was so rushed the day he came out and was late getting out of the house to get my granddaughter that I just paid him, or technically my husband did, I just left the money. I expected him to still be there when I got back or for my husband to deal with him. I may leave a bad review on his facebook page but beyond that I am just going to let it go. The guy for the siding still hasn't come out which is another annoyance, but I am still trying to be calm.

On the really good news I booked my trip to DIsney with my friend in September. Free Dining came out so we decided to get that, the price difference was worth it. I booked my flights, one way on points the other way First Class. Then I got an email from American offering me an opportunity to upgrade to First Class on the flight I booked with points. It wasn't that much money, so Jim said do it. I am now flying First Class both ways. The trip isn't for 5 1/2 months but it is something to look forward too.

Dad just left :/ We always have such a nice visit though. I got to also talk more with my friend and favorite nurse. So far so good, I still have this room 218 to myself. Dad and I pray it lasts.

Tomorrow during pt I will try and go by the room--137 (in the quiter for here area) that is supposed to be a very short term rehab room. Supposedly no one is in it yet I can't go back because of eventual plans for it. We want to clarify that.

Dad and I will also try to get a more definite answer tomorrow on Friday. Friday is when we were told I can go back to room 207. Compared to the immediate surroundings here, overall that room is quieter or at least isn't surrounded by cursing like here. Plus as I said that room has my regular preferred nurses including my two very favorites.

Dad ran into my favorite therapist Susan this afternoon. Susan told him how great I did this morning. Dad said that was a highlight for him.

Nothing new otherwise. Dad is happy the Dodgers are doing so well. I hope each of your teams are doing well, too. Have a good rest of the afternoon and evening, friends.

Good morning. It is 37 now with temps going to 60. It is raining yet again and so dreary. Yesterday was sunny. Tomorrow is at least supposed to be rain free. The weekend into next week shows rain in the forecast. We need the sun! So ready to go on the cruise in June. My NH friend and I were talking about it yesterday. My Dad was born in Nova Scotia and while I won't see where he lived I will be in Nova Scotia.

Good rainy morning. Was dumping down when I got up, it's stopped for now. But I can tell it's Spring, the forecast until Monday is rain, but temps are in the mid 70's.

Got errands done early yesterday. 3 stores, and all were fairly empty, which was surprising.

Even with signs up in Walmart, its hard to find what you're looking for. Pet department, they moved the dog food where the cat food was. They put the cat food at the other end of that department. Issue is, the cat food is in one row, and the snacks are in another, which makes no sense. I hope this is just temporary placing. I also noticed they have stopped carrying a lot of things, mainly my John Frieda hair color (along with a lot of other brands), so I had to come home and order it on Amazon.
I saw Lily working while I was there, and stopped to talk to her. She said Summer was sick yesterday. Apparently they didn't leave to take him, back to work on Monday and get a hotel for overnight. They left on Tuesday around 10 am, and she drove back home. She's having another flare up and her hands are all swollen. At least he's on the job until the 18'th. She already booked a hotel for that night so they can drive home on Saturday. He'll be home for Easter and go back 2 days later.

I had ordered a diamond art painting set, so I may start that today. The house is clean, so it's a good project for a few rainy days.

Dear Lynn I love your picture of Mickey. God willing, we will have a Quacker family meet one day at Disneyland and have our picture taken with Mickey I'm just sorry that Walmart's aisles were mixed up. Prayers continued for Summer and family.

Dear Snowysmom, hug and what an adventure you have to look forward to.

It's cool right now at going on 7am. Almost change of shift here. I think I've shared that this facility has three, eight hour nursing shifts every day. 7am to 3pm, 3pm to 11pm, and 11pm to 7am. My mother/daughter friends normally work the morning shift. I have had them a couple times from 3pm to 11pm too.

A new day and gift from God. I'm so graced indeed and to say Happy Thursday to each of you. I will check back in later.

Wow that is a lot of eggs dear Bobbi! I think a dozen eggs cost $9.99 these days here so if you can use that many it is a good deal. I just finished my first pt session of the day with Susan (my favorite therapist) most every day. My second pt also most every day is Jessica who is great, too. I truly am blessed that way.

Mercy of God, I continue to make great progress. One step at a time to, with, and for Him. Extra love also to each of dear you for always cheering me on, too.

I did have my second pt session with Jude not Jessica. I hadn't worked with him in a long time and he was so happy for me to see my progress. Jude estimated I walkèd 75 feet (with the walker and sitting breaks)

I have tried three times to share about my new roommate (whose name I have yet to find out) and each time my reply somehow gets lost

Paramedics wheeled her in around 11am. 5 to 10 minutes afterwards, a nurse (the green shower curtain divider prevented me from seeing who she was and I didn't recognize her voice) talked with this new lady for maybe 5 minutes about her medical history before leaving. No surprise here that I was never told to expect a new roommate.

Dad God willing will be here within the next 10 minutes. We will for sure learn more than and get an update on my old room 207 that I'm waiting to move back into. I definitely extra want out of this cold room now! Updates later.

Slipping thread save. Dad is forever such a blessing for me to see and spend time with. He left earlier exhausted of this place. Anyone would be! I pray he gets safely home and that we both sleep well tonight. Dad extra prayers I thank all of dear you for with all my heart.

Dad and I agree that since rarely does the admissions lady Jenny come oltalk to me, tomorrow and going forward I need to go to her. I tried doing just that earlier but as usual she was, "busy," as her office mate abruptly told me. In the future, I will have a written note with me that can be left with her.

Dad did talk with Jenny. It sounds like in order to follow the health department's guidelines (which as you know doesn't always happen here. This room is one of the few that sometimes has warmer water. Cold water is the norm. My old room had hot water that nurses would borrow) I won't be able to back to room 207 until Tuesday.

As of now the man who is infected is still in there. His door is wide open and I sure haven't seen anyone attending him wearing protective clothing.

Jenny also made it sound as though there are rooms available that I could temporarily be moved into until my 207 room was ready. Depending on how tonight goes with my new roommate, I will be better able to make that choice tomorrow. Jenny did not tell dad which specific rooms were available or whether anyone was in them. Two questions I would absolutely want answered before deciding anything.

I will also ask some nurses I better know about all this and the fumigation process tomorrow. One step at a time.

Dad got to see how well I am walking! Susan my kind pt took the care and time to make that happen I also got to briefly talk with my friend who is such a lovely lady and mom to my other (mom being included with her daughter) favorite nurse above all others at any time here. Mom did confirm that as of now she and her daughter do still get assigned room 207 unlike this room 218 which they almost never have. Last Thursday morning I had the daughter and on Friday (the day the pipe burst) I had mom.

As of right now my new roommate is mostly quiet. She may need oxygen so doesn't smoke at the moment. She did ask about the smoking area for the future. God willing by then I will be out of this room anyway. I had for my first two days here a roommate here that smoked outside. To each their own but far from me! As far as a new roommate, Jenny said she would note our no smoking request but couldn't promise anything.

Again I will know more tomorrow regarding this new lady. I also want to find out wheth whether any other than 207 permanent rooms are available and where they are and are they currently empty.

Prayers extra appreciated that I am able to sleep easily and well tonight. I need to move even more forward with pt and on out of here tomorrow!
