@Pea-n-Me - prayers for you and your family

Update on dad - He is HOME!!! Of course even that was a major issue. They sent him home with no instructions to my mom on how to care for the feeding tube or even how to feed him. The visiting nurse came out the next day even though for some reason she wasn't scheduled. I don't understand that part. Then it turned out they sent mom home with enough "food" to last him one day. The nurse straightened that out and got food ordered for him. He is week but I saw him Wednesday and he was out of the bed and in his chair. Mom thinks he's going to be able to do the stairs as soon as they get him a pacemaker. I am not that optimistic but I am thankful he is still fighting.

The basement renovation has started. I am amazed at what my grandson has planned for it. It's going to be amazing when we have it done, hopefully by Easter. The electrician is rewiring the basement. The walls are open and the outlets and wire original to the house so I am thankful for that. The plumber came out last friday and roughed in some of the plumbing ALL WRONG. The shower drain is 3" to close to the wall, the toilet drain is 2 1/2" too far away from the wall, and no sink drain. He was supposed to come back out on Monday to finish and run the water lines. He called yesterday to say he would be at the house within an hour. He still hadn't showed up over 2 hours later so my husband called him. "I'll be there in 15 minutes!" He never came and has not answered multiple phone calls from my husband and grandson. Like an idiot I paid him in full last week, trusting him to finish the work. I am contemplating filing a small claims suit against him. He has lost out on redoing my daughters bathroom and the work my mom was going to use him for. I can understand if something comes up but not calling or explaining why he hasn't come out is unacceptable.

Other than that everything is good here. Hope you all have a nice weekend

Just love dear Taz and much prayer my friend. God is always beside you. All of us sure care, too.

What a day! PT wise it was fantastic by God's grace. I walked (using a walker and taking breaks) down my old hallway and halfway back! Was that ever an encouraging blessing.

Guess who had to move again this afternoon (and not by choice)? A pipe leaked later this morning under my roommate's bed! Thank God we were both perfectly fine and not wetly impacted personally.

I was promised the room would be ready for me to move back into by Tuesday. I sure pray so. This new room truly feels so dark and dreary, reading is even hard due to poor lighting. Awful. Yes, sadly there are screaming residents and loud tv's over here, too :/

The two main reasons I want the other room back are two nurses, a mother and her daughter, who have brightened this horrible place up for me with their kind friendship and care more than I can say. Mom was my nurse this morning. I had her daughter yesterday. Mom told me rarely are either of them assigned this room. Normally, it would be possible to trade with the nurse who was assigned to me. This particular room has the same morning shift nurse daily. I did meet her. I'm sure this new to me nurse does a good job. She just doesn't have a thankful place in my heart the way my two friends do.

As long as I need to be here, I need to know I will see mom and daughter at least 2 or 3 days a week. The other days I have usually had one of my first CNA's here who was regularly assigned the now short term rehab room. Having familiar care makes a difference.

God willing by Tuesday I will move back into the pipe repaired room.

Thanks forever dear friends for listening. Sweet dreams with love.

(I tried to reply via quote twice, and it just keeps freezing up.)

But excellent on the walking, @flyingdumbo127! - I hope it keeps getting easier and easier. :goodvibes

And for reading, could your dad bring you one of those little clip-on book lights they sell at the dollar store?

And @tazdev3225, fingers crossed they've got things under control for your dad now. I'm sure he's happy to be home!

Tazdev So glad your Dad is home. He must be happy to be home where he is comfortable.

Flyingdumbo127 You are making great progress! I am sorry your facility has so many issues. PollyannaMom has a good idea about the booklight. The kindness of the nurses and CNAs makes the difference for sure.

Good morning. Cloudy here with rain coming in. Too cloudy to see the eclipse. I had my glasses ready to go! Kenny is coming by this weekend to do some stuff for me. He is so helpful and I appreciate it. I will be seeing Jeff and kids maybe tomorrow. I plan to hit the gym and do the treadmill when it opens and then come back and do some housework. I also want to get to the Paper Store to see if there are any little basket stuffers. I do really have enough stuff but you never know when you can find something cute.

Have a nice Saturday.

Good morning. The showers have come and gone and the sky is clearing so maybe I can see the partial eclipse. It's going to be 81 degrees today, stayed at 60 overnight..

I'm going to have to set the do not disturb on my phone for my sister in law. She thinks nothing of texting me when she can't sleep in the middle of the night, or at 6 in the morning, just because she's awake. I didn't fall asleep until almost 4 this morning and my phone started going crazy at 6:15. Telling me the same things she already texted me yesterday. I've asked her not to call or text after midnight or before 7 unless it's an emergency, but she seems to keep 'forgetting' that.

I'm going to finish carpet cleaning today if my back will let me.

@tazdev3225 Great news about your Dad, I hope things go well for him

@flyingdumbo127 Whoo hoo Mona, that's great progress with the walking. Keep that up and you'll get to go home and be out of that awful place sooner rather than later.

Have a nice Saturday everyone

Thank you all so much. A booklight is a great idea! Right now I truly have a problem with this room: it is freezing! Why? The air conditioner is on! It gets worse. Only maintenance workers (who naturally only work during the day) have the only keys to the locked AC control box. I was first told this at 4am when a nurse came in here to help my roommate and a little while ago when I needed care. Only here! I did get an extra blanket which helped me get a little sleep. Now that I'm up and feel the frigid air around me--awful. I sure pray to not get sick. I just tried calling the front desk to find out what time a maintenance worker will get here. I sure pray at 7am. No answer :p Dear friends, stay FAR away from this horrible place.

The LA County Board of Health is closed until Monday. I did just look up their phone number. I can hear a male resident cursing because he was told he couldn't be given one medication he wanted because he had just taken another pill. That and a blaring tv add to this most unhealthy morning start. God willing I will have a warmer update later!

7am very frustrating update. A charge nurse and this awful room's regular nurse aren't even sure maintenance is coming today. I really think one of the main maintenance workers is in the hallway now. Maybe warmer air is coming in. It's still freezing. My elderly roommate was given a sheet because "blankets aren't ready yet!" This by a supposed charge nurse. God willing I get home asap+

Thank God I got a little sleep and it's much warmer in here than it was. I do still feel cold air. Dad God willing will be here in a couple hours. We'll have lunch and a great visit.

The regular nurse who always has this room each morning means well. She and my elderly roommate seem to have a close bond. I miss my preferred nurses. I absolutely want to go back to the other room. Dad will peek in on it when he's here later.

The varied screaming and loud tv are still in the background. I'm grateful our door for the moment is closed! That helps some.

I will check back in later. Love to all.

Thank you dear Bobbi so much. How are you doing, my friend? So many loving prayers.

Dad and I, as always, had such a nice visit. Of course we miss each other now. God willing this coming week I will continue to get stronger and closer to running out the door of this awful place. I can't wait.

For over an hour, a female resident has been cursing up a storm at the staff and possibly other residents too. My nurse told me that the police have come here because of this woman many times. So sad.

I sure pray to get my room back by Tuesday. It will be a relief to get out of here. The animal jive CD (I'm guessing it's a CD) played all day by the man across from my room that's being repaired, may get old but I pray it brings cheer and comfort to him. It may get old quick but, "Do you hear the little donkey braying to say hi," is much preferable to cursing! Plus the being fixed room has my very favorite two nurses. Mom did kindly come say hi to me this afternoon. She told me her daughter will be working here on Monday. The nurse who always is assigned this room told me she has tomorrow and Monday off. The 3pm to 7pm charge nurse who has been so kind including assigning me mom or daughter is here right now. She knows I want to talk to her because dad told her so when he handed her a thank you, etc note from me earlier. Should we not get to talk this evening, tomorrow the morning charge nurse will also be someone I know better and am friendly with. I know she will assign me the daughter on Monday morning.

I'm tired! I pray to get more sleep tonight. I do feel some cold air in here. I will be bringing it up if need be early!

Sweet dreams to all. Extra hugs to Pea, Dazed, and Taz. Love to all.

Thank you all for your care, thoughts and prayers, they are very much appreciated! 🌸

Had a rough first week after chemo but starting to feel better today, thankfully. 🙏 I’d forgotten - OR - I was just 21 yrs younger last time. Either way a lot came back to me. This time it may be harder physically due to age, but is a little easier in the way that I don’t have little kids, an elderly mom and two handicapped dogs to take care of at home while undergoing treatment :faint: plus I took a leave from work this time, which I didn’t before.

So I’ve got this. Friends and family have been terrific.

As a distraction during the time of my diagnosis I wound up buying a new sofa and chair for my living room (shopping therapy!) and wandered into a flooring shop, as well. Nice man, got talking, next thing I know, we’re getting new floors on our first level living room and kitchen/dining areas, something I’ve wanted for at least 20 yrs! They’ll match the floors in the in law which look so nice. And it’s surprisingly affordable since we’re doing the hard work beforehand and had a lot of boxes of flooring left over. So DH, DS and a neighbor have been pulling up tile, subflooring and carpet all weekend! (Poor Toto is nervous.) But by Tuesday afternoon, I should have the whole thing completed. This makes me very happy! We’ve had carpet and cracked tile in there for far too long!

Bobbi, I hope you are healing well and recovering nicely. Please reach out if you ever want to chat. :flower3:

Mona, sounds like good progress. Glad you’ve forged some relationships at the rehab. The mother/daughter nurse pair reminds me of me and my DD. I hope you get back to your original room soon.

Snowysmom, happy about your work schedule! Win-win! 👍🏼

Wishing everyone a nice Sunday. 🐥 🌸

So cute and cozy looking, dear Lynn. I pray you enjoy a Sunday off!

Dear Pea, many loving prayers. Indeed you got this by God's grace. I thank you and your daughter for all your compassionate care always.

Good early morning friends,

Thanks to God, I slept last night and feel much better now. I'm waiting for Lisa, the morning charge nurse I'm friendly with, to check in. I'm not sure the two people that I've spoken with so far know who she is :p It looks like a regular overnight shift nurse who gave me the heads up that once again I was assigned a male nurse was right. All switched to a new to me female nurse. As long as I need more personal care, I want a female CNA. The scheduling people just don't seem to remember this. Oh well.

I look forward to watching online worship and seeing my dad later.

Have a great day everyone!

Pea Prayers and best wishes for you always. Taking time off from work is a great plan. You can concentrate on you. I like all the things are are doing with your home to make it more comfortable and cozy for you and your family.

Flyingdumbo127 Glad you slept better and your nice nurse will be in to see you. Prayers that your great progress continues and you can get home soon.

Off to Jeff's soon. He is kind to think of me and give me time with him and the family. I know they have a very busy schedule but thankfully today is a quiet day for them. Kenny came by yesterday and did the things I needed done. He is so good to help me. We chatted a bit. It seems like his divorce should be finalized in April without having to have another appt with the arbitrator. I hope he takes some time to do some thinking about his next step in life. I think I know what it is but I am concerned he is moving quickly and not really thinking about long term planning. If does that I think he will be in a better place to go onto his next step.

Have a nice Sunday.

Hello Quackers, thought I would drop by with some good news to relay. Our daughter's custody battle is finally over! Nothing has changed for her, she still has primary custody of the kids. It's been four years and 10 months since her ex filed the initial allegations against her and my husband. We are glad for this phase to finally end.

Mona, I'm so glad that you have been able to get up and walk some. Hopefully soon you will be back home!

I drop in and read from time to time. Prayers are lifted up for all of you.

Good morning. It is 26 now with temps heading to 60 today. Yesterday was such a dreary day and this week is supposed to be more of the same with a couple of nice days. My friend in NH had snow and ice yesterday morning. I am waiting for spring to be here with the nice weather. It was nice to see Jeff and the grandkids. The drive is not great but worth it to see them. Regardless of what area I live in I would have a long drive to one of the kids since they live an hour apart. Busy work week coming up.

Have a nice day.
