Post all SW questions concerns, etc. here...

Has SW shared how they will board families with young children or the disabled?
To be fair, they haven't shared how they'll board anyone on the new system. Other airlines where you have to pay to pick your seats have rules built into their algorithm to keep young children with parents even if they didn't pay to pick seats. Presumably Southwest will do the same. Preboarding will surely still be a thing for those who require it.

Expect it to the same as the legacy airlines. Preboarders still preboard and families with small children board when their zone is called.
I wouldn't expect any official announcement until April or May, and expect the tickets to go on sale in June or July.

Does anyone know if I purchase a flight for 3 of us on one reservation, can I later purchase ECBI for only one of us?

My question is why you want to do do this? If it's to save money and have seats saved, that may not work out for you in the way you hope. I've seen much more pushback on seat saving since the pandemic.
For a group of 3, I think you really only need EBCI for two.

Yes, there's pushback on seat saving, but if I've never seen anyone care about an orphaned middle seat when the aisle and window of a row are already taken.

I don't typically see issues until late into the boarding when the FAs announce multiple times that only middle seats are available because at that point you're starting to mess with Boarding. That said I do agree with the PP that it may not work out, so best to have the mindset if you don't sit all together you're fine with it.

Thanks everyone! One person always prefers an aisle seat while 2 don’t care (though nice when together!). The one is not going to try to save two seats, I was just hoping to save money for the two who are flexible.

I booked today too (release morning for Oct).

For BWI at least... it does seem to be that release morning is still best (or at least better than 5 months out). Oct flight booked on release day is much cheaper than my summer trip (which I was not able to book on release day).

However, both sets of flights (July and Nov) are much more expensive than they were last summer. So I'm not sure if they both might still come down even more... but at least release day (9 months out) was better than 5 months out. Maybe everything will come down 2 months out though!

I was just coming to say how expensive flights are on release day! I always book my flight from PIT to MCO on release day and they are ridiculous right now. I am going the last week in October and they are more than they were when I flew in December of 2024. I checked PHL and BWI and it seems like BWI is much cheaper than PIT. I prefer PIT but if prices don’t come down at all, I will have to change airports.

That being said, I’ve only booked my SW flights on release day. What if I wait? Do you think prices will only go up? I want to buy EBCI too but if I wait a few months I probably won’t get the A group before family boarding and it will be a waste because we can just do family boarding.

More and more these days opening day pricing is crazy-pants. I will definitely be waiting to book, and it won't necessarily be on SW, for my October DLR/San Diego trip!

I still find from BDL that booking a flight on release day is usually the best price. I have a trip in August and I’ve been checking regularly to see if it goes down. It has not to date and in fact, has gone up significantly.

Its becoming quite clear that booking day of release no longer is the best. So I book and then check daily for point drops.

Definitely a good plan if you have points since you get them all back.

Harder to justify if you're only getting back flight credit, which means they have your money until you book your next flight. Then that one could *also* be over priced at first and then you're reducing and getting more credits...

Yea I wouldn't do it with a cash purchase
