My parents haven’t been on a Disney cruise but have been on many others so cruise pros just not with Disney. My dad wants me to do everything for booking and planning for him. I haven’t been on a cruise since 2019 so I’m not sure if there are any new things to be aware of to tell him.

The cruise is in May so it’s a more last minute planning. They are also looking into doing the cruise after as well. I know in the US you have to get off when you do a back to back. Do you have to in Europe as well?

When I sailed you didn’t have to do all the things you have to now with check in. What exactly happens with check in now I know something about passport information I’ve seen online but not really clear about it. Is it complicated or easy for them to do when they check in?

When checking in for a cruise, passengers needs to provide screenshots of their passports and an additional photo, along with payment information (such as a credit card number) and information on how they are getting to and from the ports. The process is straightforward but does require familiarity with posting photos. This thread has an overview of the process: https://www.disboards.com/threads/what-do-i-need-to-have-prepared-for-online-check-in.3885775/

I am fairly sure that all passengers need to disembark, even in Europe, before starting the second leg of a back-to-back cruise.

The main downside to booking close to sailing is that activities such as dining, beverage tastings, excursions, and spa treatments have been available for some time and may be sold out. The advantage of a longer cruise, though, is that there may be more availability onboard as people change their plans.

Thank you! It’ll be their first Disney cruise so they won’t have any status so figured most things would be sold out. They like doing excursions on their own so that won’t be an issue. Can you see availability of things before booking or only after?

Activities available for booking can't be viewed until the cruise is booked (and the booking date has arrived, but that has already happened for a cruise in May).

Do you happen to know if there’s any Palo dining available? And drink tastings?

Yes, there are a few Palo reservations available on days 2, 9, 11, 12, and 13.

There are beer, mixology, and martini tastings still available.

They can always try to get a Palo reservation on the ship. They hold some back.

Tastings have gone up in price a lot if you haven’t cruised in a while. They are 50$ a person now.

I am on the cruise as well. If they are interested in excursions, I can check what’s available.

If they aren’t into using an app, they can still get printed Navigators (daily schedules) from the guest services desk.
