Our delicious Deluxe Dining Adventures! Lots of pics! Final thoughts - All Done!!

mmmmmmmm...cheese soup and pretzel bread....just let me wipe the drool off my keyboard :)

Yum, I know!!! I might have to make some cheese soup of my own one day!

DH and I had the same appetizers and desserts when we were there last month. We both like them very much, especially the creme brulee! I agree with tables being so close together here though. But it's such a great place to eat and we will be back in October!

Sounds like we had similar thoughts about Le Cellier - and similar taste in food too, yay!! Have some cheese soup and creme brulee for me in October. :thumbsup2

Yum, sorry your tummy was feeling a bit icky - gotta love that pretzel bread, though. Would love to go back to Le Cellier :)

Pretzel bread is awesome! I'd love to go back too. In fact, lunch there today would be nice! If only...!

We've only been there once, but I remember how close together the tables were. I was not crazy about that at all. Just like NYC restaurants!!

We noticed that in some NYC restaurants too. The tables were pretty close together! Le Cellier still takes the cake though, I reckon!

As a first time WDW trip planner, your food reviews are so helpful!
Thank you!
Your review makes choosing which restaurants to go to so much easier; and that I feel I need to upgrade to the Deluxe dinning plan!

I'm glad my reviews have been helpful!! If you can eat a LOT, I'd recommend doing the deluxe dining plan. We wouldn't do it again - it was way too much food for us!!

WOW I guess LeCeller and Italy instead of Japan and Leceller . We want LeCeller and Japan but can't get them together . Ugg but the food looks great at Leceller we just can not miss it !

Oooh... I'm not quite sure what you mean about Italy and Japan, but definitely go for Le Cellier, it's great!!

I wish I had that soup in front of me now. Looks delicious! Sorry you weren't feeling so well for your meal. Thanks for sharing all the yummy pics! ;)

I wish I had the soup in front of me now too!! Lots more pics to come! :)

After our big delicious Le Cellier lunch, we had a quiet afternoon resting at the resort. We were very, very close to cancelling our reservation for Kona that night, because we still just weren't hungry! In fact, we felt like we might very well explode from too much food. We were also exhausted and didn't feel like heading all the way over the the Polynesian for dinner. :headache:

In the end though, we decided to stick with our original plans, so... to Kona Cafe it was!!

IMG_9284.jpg

So yep, we'd already been there for breakfast early on in our vacation, but dinner sounded great too, so I'd made two reservations at Kona! I couldn't miss out on those chicken wings and great desserts!!

We only waited a few minutes to be seated, but we waited a long time to meet our server! He seemed to be running around madly all night, apologising for things taking so long - which was a bit odd, because the restaurant really wasn't that busy! Other servers seemed quite calm - we just got the frazzled guy!! :lmao:

Bread arrived on our table first. (Although we'd ordered drinks beforehand, they hadn't appeared yet.)

IMG_9831.jpg

I loved this bread! It was so soft and yummy! The butter was whipped macadamia nut butter. Excellent! I knew I shouldn't keep eating the bread, but I couldn't help it! It was just too good!

Our drinks eventually appeared. Yay!

I decided to treat myself and ordered the Fairies Punch - Minute Maid Light Raspberry Lemonade served in a souvenir Fairies cup with a glowing Tinker Bell Clip-on-Light. Now, I know it's meant for kids, but it was cute!! I'd seen them everywhere throughout our time at Disney, and I wanted one!! It wasn't included on our Dining Plan, but that was okay. It's cute!! (And the raspberry lemonade was fantastic had a really, really strong raspberry flavour! Definitely put a spring in my step!)

DH ordered a Tropical Smoothie (again!) and loved it (again!).

IMG_9834.jpg

For our appetizer, we chose the Sticky Wings - glazed chicken wings wings with a tangy mustard drizzle and toasted sesame seeds...

IMG_9833.jpg

This now serves two people, so we had to share them. :scared1:

Hehee, it wasn't that bad. There were plenty of them to share - there was no way either of us could eat a plate of these by ourselves! They were fantastic chicken wings though! The sauce on them was similar to 'Ohana, but maybe even better, if possible!? Finger lickin' good!! :thumbsup2

The entrees at Kona Cafe never really appealed to me as much as the appetizers and desserts. I didn't quite know what to order! In the end, I decided on the Shrimp and Scallops - panko breaded shrimp and pan-seared scallops with sticky rice and ponzu, spicy guava-passion fruit and wasabi cream sauces - except without the Scallops!! I don't like scallops!! I asked our server if I could just have shrimp and no scallops, and he said that would be fine. Phew!! :)

IMG_9837.jpg

This was a lovely sized meal! Not as huge as lots of other meals, but definitely enough. The shrimp were massive, and were very tasty. I dipped them in the orange sauce at the end, which was a great mixture of spicy and sweet. It was a great choice in the end!

DH went with the Coconut Almond Chicken - sauteed chicken breast served with Asian greens tossed with honey-lime dressing, golden pineapple, strawberries, and toasted almonds...

IMG_9835.jpg

I don't see any strawberries in there, do you!? Oh well! DH loves pineapple and almonds (and chicken!) so this was a no-brainer choice for him, and he really liked it! The piece of chicken was really big though, and he didn't eat it all - but he definitely enjoyed what he did eat!

And then it was dessert time! Yay!! :woohoo:

They make choosing dessert very tricky at Kona - all the desserts are laid out and displayed on the counter at the back of the restaurant! DH and I went for a wander to check out what we might like to order - very tricky to choose, they all looked so good!

Eventually, I chose the Chocolate Fondue...

IMG_9839.jpg

This was excellent! The melted chocolate was like a mix of milk chocolate and dark chocolate, and was very creamy and rich. My favourite thing to dip in was the pineapple. Mmmmm! A great dessert!

DH went for the Kona Cone...

IMG_9838.jpg

He was a bit worried this was actually a kid's dessert, but it's not on the kid's menu! Heh! Inside each corner of that silver tray are little decorative candies and nuts and things that you can add to your ice-cream. Which DH did, of course!! He loved it! I had a taste and it was great ice-cream. I don't think either of us ate the cotton candy, what a shame!

Overall, we had an awesome meal at Kona Cafe. It wasn't until the very end, when we were leaving, until I realised that I actually ate most of my meal. Wow!! That's a first at Disney World!! I'd really only been nibbling at our meals for the past few days, because of my minor tummy bug, and because I just wasn't hungry - but I actually ate quite a bit at Kona! Was my appetite coming back, or was the food just really good!?! Maybe both!! :yay:

The atmosphere of Kona is nothing amazing. I like the big fans on the roof, but apart from that, it feels just like a regular hotel cafe really. Our server wasn't too fantastic either, but it didn't matter too much. The food made up for it! In the end, we were so glad we didn't cancel our ADR!! We'd definitely head back here for dinner again.

We gave Kona Cafe 4 smiley men out of 5! :) :) :) :)

Next up... Boma Breakfast! (Our last full day of our vacation!)

We've nly managed to make it to Kona Cafe for breakfast but I must admit the dinner looks awfully tempting - expecially that Kona Cone ;)

Your sticky wings looked delicious! I love Kona's macadamia butter...so good! Glad you had a good meal there and that your tummy issues were subsiding. :)

Just catching back up on your reviews. We are going to Kona and Le Cellier on our upcoming trip. My daughter is addicted to fruit. We'll definetly be ordering the chocolate fondue. Your pictures are great!

On our first day of the trip I got the Fairies Punch, too!! I wanted that tinkerbell clip on!

I was just looking at a Kona menu and your review just makes me want to book a ADR even more!

Mmmmm, Kona! Love it there, dinner or breakfast. I've never had that fondue, but it looks really yummy.

I did have a chocolate fondue once at a fondue restaurant that came with fruit for dipping, and also some little bite sized squares of cakes and cookies. I have to confess that my very favorite were some extremely rich, extremely chocolatey brownie bites - rich chocolate dipped in more rich chocolate! Thank goodness I don't have access to something like that in my daily life! :rotfl2:

I think if we were to go again, I'd choose dinner over breakfast. The Tonga Toast for breakfast was great, but dinner was even better! You should totally go for dinner next time! :thumbsup2

Yum... sticky wings and macadamia nut butter! So unhealthy, yet so good!!

What a great thing that your daughter is addicted to fruit!! Better than being addicted to chocolate! You'll love the chocolate fondue. Yum! :thumbsup2

Hehee! It was cute, wasn't it?! I don't quite know where my Tinkerbell clip on is at the moment... I must track her down!

I was just looking at a Kona menu and your review just makes me want to book a ADR even more!

Oooh, well then, you should totally book an ADR! Why not!? :woohoo:

can't wait to see them all.

More reviews coming soon - only one more day of reviews to go now!!

I am loving it. :thumbsup2

I'm glad!! :cool1:

Oh my goodness!! Chocolate brownies dipped in chocolate fondue!! :scared1: I'd be scared I might turn into a chocolate, after that! (Sounds wonderful though!)

WOW all of this looks delicious! I had to subscribe. Great report:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Thanks, and welcome!! More coming up soon! popcorn::

Wow, only 45 days until your Disneymoon!! Yay!! Are you all organised for your wedding?
Sounds like you had a fantastic explore of Australia! Most people just seem to visit Sydney and Queensland, so you definitely got to see a lot more than that. Did you have a favourite place? I'm a bit biased of course, since I live in Melbourne, but I really want to visit Perth again soon for a nice beach holiday.
Glad you've been enjoying my old trip report!! Thanks for posting!

No, no, I am already married - if I had a wedding and a Disney honeymoon to plan at the same time, I think I would go mad! :lmao: But my DH couldn't get away from work at first, so we have postponed our honeymoon a little.

Favorite place in Australia? That's a hard one since I've been to so many beautiful places, but I especially loved Kakadu National Park. And even though you didn't ask, I liked Melbourne MUCH better than Sydney ;)
I stayed there some weeks with friends in Toorak, then Heidelberg and then Selby (east of Melbourne), and I just loved it. We will definitely be going there again eventually!

Anyway, I am looking forward to your upcoming dining reports for places in the Wilderness Lodge since we will be staying there as well! Thank you for the great report so far!

I am enjoying your reviews. Many of your places are on our list for August so this is very helpful. :thumbsup2

Only up to WCC, but really enjoying your reviews!
Came over from the Food Pics thread.

Thanks for sharing!

Argh! We had decided to skip Kona this time around and now you are making me rethink that decision! I love that macadamia nut butter and the sticky wings!!

I also came over from the food porn thread, and your report is awesome! Fantastic pics and wonderful details. Thanks for being so thorough, and posting this fantastic report!

I am loving your reviews and the photos are great! We ate at Kona last year for the first time and we have made ADR's again this year. I can't wait to read about Mama Melrose, we are trying it for the first time this year.:)

Ooh, okay, sorry! A postponed honeymoon, that makes it even more exciting! Definitely worth the wait!!
Hehee, I'm glad you liked Melbourne better than Sydney! Me too!! I've never been to Kakadu... I've wanted to, but just never made it.

I am enjoying your reviews. Many of your places are on our list for August so this is very helpful. :thumbsup2

Boma breakfast review coming up soon, guys! Thanks for sticking around and reading!

Wow I am laughing at myself because I just spent way too long reading this whole review, and I am not even planning a trip to WDW any time soon! Haha. But great job, you made me wish we could go back now to try all of this yummy food. I am glad you had such a nice trip and thanks for all of the great reviews!
