Nintendo Switch 2

Nintendo finally confirmed that their second iteration of the Switch will release to the public before my 2018 pre-order of Metroid Prime 4 is in my hands.

Now I will be ordering it on an upgraded system.

Man, i know, right? That game's been in the oven for a loooong time! I will get the S2 version though I will try to avoid getting the upgraded versions of games that I already have. I did the same on Wii U to Switch, though I did bite on Mario Kart due to the DLC (got base game on sale though) and SM 3D World due to the Bowser's Fury content.

Game was announced at E3 2017. Only upgraded games I’ll get are BoTW and ToTK by virtue of having the NSO + Expansion.

The additions to MP Jamboree are cute but probably not worth the upgrade.

Yeah, the only tempting one is Kirby and the Forgotton Land. Maybe if the upgrade is cheap. I wonder how they will work with physical Game Cards.

Probably no different than DLC, just download digitally what’s necessary onto the internal storage.

Which, I’m glad this one starts at 256 GB as someone who has switched to more digital of late.

With the release of the Nintendo Switch 2 will we see the games for Nintendo Switch go on clearance anytime soon? I think Nintendo has high hopes for Nintendo Switch 2 because I can see it becoming the hottest selling item for Christmas 2025 and lots of people will get them on Santa's Wish List. I also think Nintendo will make a lot of Nintendo Switch 2 games but like the Gameboy Advance Nintendo Switch 2 will most likely play the original Nintendo Switch games as well. Will this new Nintendo Switch 2 also have a camera like the Nintendo 3DS did too?

I don't think it will be immediate, but eventually you will see the Switch 1 games going on sale. It will take a little time for Switch 2 to build up it's own roster of games, and it still plays Switch 1 software, so I doubt you will see it with the big titles. Also, titles with an Upgrade Pack might still be popular, especially if one can score the physical version a little cheaper. Switch 2 will devinitely be hot this Christmas, and sales on older games might be pretty good around Black Friday. Keep an eye out.

Only pre-orders are delayed. At this point they still expect to release on June 5, but the price could change. I have heard that the initial, shoewhat high, price anticipated some tariffs, but they turned out to be much steeper than expected. It is possible that things will change though.

Yeah it’ll still release globally on June 5th, it’s just a question of what it will wind up costing for consumers in the U.S.

They moved production years ago from China to Cambodia and Vietnam to avoid some tariffs, but those latter countries got hit with higher rates.

Oh, interesting. So, even if the box is witch 2, it would be a Switch 1 Game Card. That's good, because then one can play the physical game on either unit.
