May Med Magic - May 15 2010 - Meet thread - Part 2

DCL canceled its press conference scheduled in Miami today. Would guess they are trying to figure how to release the itineraries while being sensitive to the ongoing situation in Italy.

I'm disappointed...I was hoping to hear soon. I'm really hoping for another Med or Panama Canal crossing.

We were really looking forward to the announcement. We're heading out on the Dream tomorrow for Jared's birthday and were all ready to book some med cruises! Hopefully they'll announce them soon.

Tell us how you like the Dream, we are big fans of teh Magic and Wonder and felt the Dream was too big for us.

Rumor of the Wonder sailing out of Port of Miami for awhile, if true then a Panama Canal would be in the making sometime in December 2012. Waiting to hear and if so book.

We did the Dream back in October and had a great time - can't beat the Aqua Duck! But we don't like animators, and it is really big. I prefer the spaces on the Magic. We're sailing on her twice this summer while she is out of New York. Can't wait to get back on her!

Who saw the itineraries? They have some really good ones - two holiday cruises, two Panama Canals, a trans-atlantic. I want to go on them all! Plus all the new Med itineraries - 4, 7, 12 nights. I don't know how I'm going to decide between the Greek and Venice 12 days. Anyone else think you'll be going on one?

Yep, do wish some of the dates were better though. We are going to do the
12-Night Mediterranean Cruise Disney Magic Itinerary B for sure but will have to pick up something between now and then. Panama hits us when Jessi gets done with school for winter break in December and then when she graduates in May, bummed, that is the one we have been waiting for the longest.

We are definitely doing one of the 12 nights as well, just can't decide which one. I think we're leaning towards Greece, but have always wanted to go to Venice. The Panama Canal in December looks great, if we can somehow swing it, I would love to book it. But with a 2 night on the Magic in July and a 5 night Canadian in September, who knows if we can.

I would love to do the 12 night to Greece but I'm afraid of the pricing.

Got through on phone right away at 8 this morning and after reviewing the new pricing :scared1: ended up doing the Holiday - New Years B2B out of Miami on the Wonder :santa:

Now that the girls get adult pricing on everything it adds up quick, sweet as they are. :hippie:

The other consideration ended up being sailing from Barcelona and repeating 5 ports gave us cause to feel better about it. Now hoping for South America in 14.

I can't book until tomorrow....I'm sure the pricing is going to be awful. I may just wait and see if they do a great special like I got on the Med cruise.

They just may have to, watching all the posts from Platinum and Gold, very few signing up for 12 night and almost none for 4 or 7 night. Lots of talk about the higher pricing.

Wow, these prices are through the roof! I can't book until tomorrow, either, but I've been quoting for clients all day. Right now, a cat. 9A for two adults is going for $6723 for the 6/15 cruise! Crazy! Several categories, including 5A and 11B are 'sold out'. I'm thinking a lot has been put on hold and once people realize how expensive it is, 98% of these are going to be released back into inventory. They're going to have to drop the price or offer one of those amazing deals like we had last time. I think I'm going to hold a room tomorrow and then if they don't offer a deal before final payment I'll just cancel.

We will be watching for Military and Police/Fire deals to see if something happens. We have to do cat 5B or greater otherwise need 2 rooms, ouch !

Hey, glad to see some Med friends still posting here...Jill, Mike, Heather. :) Susan and I were also looking at the Med cruises for 2012 and like you Mike looking for a Panama canal cruise but alas it's in December. :sad2:

Of the two 12 night Med cruises we're leaning towards the one that goes to Greece. Susan's been to Venice before and I just like the idea of going to Greece more so I think that'd be our choice.

We'll watch to see what happens, our guess is with the employee unrest the prices may discount which could draw us as well. popcorn:: We are doing an Eastern Caribbean for Christmas :santa: but remain committed to getting on a Panama Canal just as soon as we can get past the schedule conflicts.

Here's hoping the prices come down, I have my heart set on the Greece cruise in June. A Panama Canal cruise would be nice, too, though. For now we have a 2 night out of NY in July and then a 5 night to Canada in September to look forward to.

Susan and Jeff,

Just in case you may check here thought I would let you know about my visit to Memphis on Friday, stopped by CBC (now CBU) and of course now there is a guard gate. Asked if we could take a look around and what do you know it was Alumni day, actually a class of 62 event but the campus was open to all classes. The grounds were as beautiful as I remember, Jessi and Donna were along and equally impressed.

Hope that Katy got accepted into a vet program.

Mike

Hi Mike,

Yes, Katy did get accepted. She starts in August at Auburn University.

Changing subjects, I got an email from one of our Med cruise mates (Connie otherwise known as travelbee) and she gave me a heads up on the GTY rate for the eastbound Panama Canal cruise in December 12. Susan and I are going to book it. Don't know if you guys are interested or not. If so, the rate is less than $1000 per person, which is pretty darned good for a 14 day cruise. Departs Dec. 9, docks in Miama on 12/23.
