2024 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

I happened to see parts of the 2024 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and from what I saw of it it looked okay but just not appealing as the previous year's parades. Mom liked Minnie Mouse's balloon and I had no idea that there was a new Spider-Man balloon in Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and that was surprising to me. What I liked was the DCL float and it was well done with Minnie as the host. But I was shocked that it was raining and everyone had raincoats. How was Santa's arrival? Was it nice?

I always like this parade and did not really find it different than any other year but I did not know many of the musical guests and they replaced some of the balloons I remember with new ones.

Did you see the float named Pasta Knight? It was sponsored by Rao's Pasta Sauce and was one of the floats people talked about? Did you also see the Minnie Mouse balloon too CynBeth?

Yes I saw just about the entire thing.

Saw bits of it. Was underwhelmed. Too many hosts hamming it up on camera instead if showing the parade.

Yes, it was raining. NYC is not under a bubble. And we desperately need the rain.

Having been a balloon handler in a parade when it was raining and about the same temps (Cherry Blossom Parade in DC about 20 years ago) when we did NOT get official raincoats, I can appreciate that at least Macy's did that. Due to the rain and predicted winds, the balloons were flown at a much lower level than the standard in order to keep everyone safe. Much more wind and likely there would have been NO balloons.

Fun fact: Bluey almost didn't fly. She popped while being inflated. But they were able to repair her in time to fly.

CBS isn’t broadcasting (they do more of the parade over hosts & actors) and we don’t have Peacock/NBC. YouTube had AP coverage. Couldn’t get into it so I turned it off. First time ever I didn’t watch Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade.
