Disney's POP CENTURY RESORT Information & Questions

As for the soft goods refurbishment all he said was it was going to be a minor refresh that would be subtle and may not notice much of a difference.

Probably new mattresses, bedding, curtains if needed. Soft goods is generally stuff that's easy ans quick to do that doesn't change anything but needs to go due to age.

I'd expect some of the bedding, pillows and towels to have been replaced since the refurb for various reasons. Probably some curtains too due to damage etc.

Yes now that you mention it I believe he did mention mattresses and pillows in that part of the conversation.

Well like I posted earlier I had an interesting conversation with the General Manager and food and beverage manager here at Pop. They stopped by our table asking how our stay was going. I told them was pleasantly surprised with opening almost all the food court. They asked my thoughts and of course I said loved it but the busy table tops take a couple of days to get used too. I said I guess Pop won't be getting anymore refurbishment for awhile and the GM said actually late next spring they will be doing a soft goods refurbishment on the rooms which will take months. A hard goods refurbishment won't happen for some years yet. He did say the next hard goods refurbishment may include a few more shower only rooms not firm on that though. Oh and I asked him if he knew what dates the skyliner would be down in January and he said they weren't planning a January shut down at least that's what he was told. BUT @scrappinginontario please don't post that on page one because I don't know if that's official. Things change daily at Disney LOL but that would make alot of people happy if that is true. Like I said I am not sure about that. Like I said this isn't info that is official and can't be posted on page one but I found it interesting and wanted to share with anyone who loves Pop Century like I do.
I think the people on the skyliner refurb thread would like to hear your rumor, I agree it’s not fact but it’s something 😀

Yes those were all the people I thought of when he told me that BUT it's not official as far as I am concerned so I am not posting that comment on that thread. That is for Disney to do not me. LOL.

Are the preferred rooms on the ground floor in buildings 4 and 5 extremely loud? I've read the preferred pool rooms on the ground floor can be a nightmare, but are the ones down just a bit any quieter?

During the day they would still hear the activities /music from the pool. Also, they are the closest rooms to the Skyliner so if guests choose to walk in front of them and are talking, this would be heard too.

I haven’t stayed in them so hopefully others can share their actual experiences.

Can anyone who's been there since the food court renovation confirm the soda selection? I believe they kept the regular soda fountains instead of switching to Coke Freestyle? Specifically, can you still get Coke Zero?

Gotta have my POP at POP!

Thanks,
PHXscuba

Yes I just left Pop a few hours ago and they still had Coke Zero. I think the selections haven’t changed from last year if I remember correctly. Oh and no Freestyle machines. Still the regular ones.

Perfect, that's exactly what I needed! I really prefer Diet Dr Pepper but that's not really available on-property, so my go-to backup is Coke Zero when it's available.

Any recent photo updates of the food court and store? I'll be arriving in a week and a half, so just curious how it's looking!

I just left Pop 2 days ago and did post while there. Unfortunately I am not tech savvy so am not good at posting pictures. Hopefully someone will arrive at Pop soon and post some pictures. I can tell you I do believe you will love the new food court. I did. And I enjoyed a couple of dinners there and they were really good. The food court is bright and feels more open to me. I really like the new look. The table tops are a bit busy and may take a day or two to get used too but they do fit with the new look. Enjoy your upcoming stay.

Pics are a bit random trying to shoe what's closed or not. Just took them and am here until next Tues so if anything changes I'll post more or if there's anything specific. I like it, looks nice in person.20241106_105345.jpg20241106_105403.jpg20241106_105412.jpg20241106_105416.jpg20241106_105633.jpg20241106_105636.jpg20241106_105652.jpg20241106_105654.jpg20241106_105709.jpg20241106_105815.jpg

Hey all! Looking to get a room here for Marathon Weekend but it's been "sold out" for a while now. Is it really that popular to the point there's absolutely no rooms? Does availability change like this often? I feel like in the past I'd have no problem getting a room.

It's become a really popular place to stay for RunDisney weekends, especially with the Skyliner. I'm going that weekend and booked my room as a placeholder back in February hoping I could snag a PH discount, but no deal with that. It's rack rate every night.

Also, Disney reservation systems stinks. It will show no availability for a night or two, but then if you add more nights, availability will appear. EX: right now if you stay 10-13 Jan, there is a preferred pool view room ($269!!!). But if you look at the individual nights--nada.

Thanks for the heads up on those dates! Going to see if I can call and modify.

EDIT: Has anyone had luck doing this? Modifying down days?

I was looking at a room at Pop for June 2025. It had this "warning" on the site.

From late March 2025 to mid-February 2026, Guest rooms at Disney’s Pop Century Resort will undergo refurbishment. While all resort amenities will remain available, Guests may notice construction during daytime hours.

I assume this is the soft refurb? When I asked on chat with Disney they told me the only refurb is the one going on now that should be completed before the end of the year. I mentioned the warning and they said they had no information.
