Romper Room-Do you remember this show and were you on it?

I grew up in Baltimore and my sister and I were both on Romper Room.

Also we were on a show called Professors Kools Fun School, does anyone else remember that one?

YES!!!!!! Another Bawlmer native here Hon! I was just going to post about that. Stew Kerr was the Professor, (he was also a newcaster). He was great! My brother was on that one with his boyscout den. Romper Room was for preschoolers and Professor Kool was for more elementary age kids. I only remember that the kids in the audience were all around the perimeter of the room in school desks, and that occasionally, someone in a witches costume would run out. That was extremely scary for me.

If you are from Baltimore, then you also remember Captain Cheasapeake on channel 45. (FOX). That was the BEST. It was all the afterschool cartoons and in between, the host of the program was a boat captain on the Cheasapeake who would read letters from viewers and do a little skit with the other characters. I felt like that man was my second father. Honestly, I remember Miss Sally from RomperRoom and Captain Cheasapeake from those years better than I remember my parents. . There was Moany the seamonster, and what was the mean bird in the birdhouse that you never saw? The boat bell would ring and the number of bells indicated the cartoon coming up, "4 bells! time for Speed Racer!" I remember 8 bells was Superfriends which I hated, so when it got to 8 bells I would do my homework.

Watched it...was never on it....also liked Julia's fun school. But, my favorite was Magic Garden! Nobody ever saw me...Dana was not a common name in the 70's :)

As my name is Jennifer and we are talking about the mid 70's....I heard my name called a lot!

Anybody remember the show, Magic Garden, with those two hippy chicks..Paula and ....oooh...I forget the other's name, but they both wore their hair in long pigtails. And the chuckle patch? I loved that show!:happytv:

This was probably one of my favorite shows. I think it went on in the afternoon on WPIX 11 (can you tell I watched alot of TV as a kid?).

A year or so ago I looked it up online & found that they had email addy's. So I emailed them thanking them for their show & I can't remember if it was Paula or Carol that emailed me back.

I liked Carol more & my cousin liked Paula.

I loved when the chuckle patch chuckled & when they would swing & the fence that Sherlock hung out at & the box of dress up stuff.

Just FYI if you don't know, all the Romper Rooms were locally produced in the markets they aired in. So you might have had Miss Molly in NY, Miss Sally in Chicago, etc...

Anyway, I was on the show on my 6th birthday! I remember doing some kind of calisthenics "touch your toes, do jumping jacks" kind of thing. At snack time, we had vienna fingers. I never had those until that day and they still remind me of Romper Room!!

But here's the funny part -- I was on the show in NY and it was taped in Times Square. If you are not from around here, you might not recall the state of Times Square in the mid '70's. We are talking porno heaven. The studio was on the second floor of a building that housed some very adult theatres on the ground level. I remember my mom telling me to just look straight ahead when we went through the doorway between two XXX movie houses!!

I got the NY version at my house. I loved that show (I was born in 1971, gulp, I am almost 36).

Never was on Romper Room either, but loved watching it. I don't think my name was too popular in the 70's either b/c I don't remember the name Dawn being said.

I also loved Capt. Kangaroo, Magic Garden, Wonderama and Electric Company (loved the Spiderman skits and still remember Bonk and Conk!).

Monorail Silver - I was also born in '71 so I know how you feel. 40 is getting too close too quick :scared:. DH will be 38 in January  ! I'm having a hard time with that one!

I was on Wonderama and won a barbie RV! I lost my bagel with my name on it! Does anyone remember the other NY show? Channel 11 had one and so did channel 9 but I can remember the name of it

was on romper room in San Francisco in the early 70's. I remember my mother waking me up very early one morning and telling me that I was going to be on the show. She hadn't told me before because I would have been to excited to sleep. They gave us gifts at the end of the show. All I can remember are the romper stompers. Loved those.

Oh, if only they had VCR's or DVR's back then! I had sent in a picture I drew to Romper Room, and they showed it on TV. I yelled and yelled for my mom who was in the bathroom putting on her make-up. She didn't make it in time to see. I guess I was 3-4 at the time.

yes I remember and yes I was on, my kindergarden went on the show, and while doing the punching dummy I threw up, on tv

I was on the show, it was taped at a station in Jackson, MS and we lived down the street. I remember the teacher on Romper Room pinching me because I was talking too much:scared1: !! :lmao: I did not care, I loved it. I would give anything for a copy of those shows. My dd would think it was funny!!:lmao: I waited all the time for my name to be called but my first name is Tanya and that was not a common name. :happytv: So, I waited and waited. Oh, to have the good ole days of romper room back for our kids!!

Hi Mommytobug,

I remember I was on the show as well in Jackson MS. I was about 4 or 5. I am trying to figure out when the episode was filmed so I can search for a clip. Was it only filmed in Jackson MS that one day? when I search Romper Room episodes, they list other filming locations instead of Jackson MS. Any info would help. Maybe we were on the same show. :)

I was on Romper Room in Jackson, MS. I remember throwing up different colored scarves and catching them. No idea why that stands out. I also remember the big cables everywhere and the huge cameras. I used to love that show!

I watched all these shows from Buffalo, NY. As a "Todd", I loved the show, but was never was seen in the Romper Room magic mirror. My mom bought me a RR bee costume for Halloween, and I wore it to school when I was in kindergarten. Between ages 4 and 5, I must have become too cool, because I remember being super embarrassed with it. I laugh my *** off now remembering the day. My mom has a picture of the both of us with me pouting in the costume. I'm just happy my mom cared enough for me to have me watch the show and to buy me a costume back in the day when extra money was hard for a family to come by.
