Romper Room-Do you remember this show and were you on it?

Oh....I LOVED Romper Room. I was never on it but I do remember being VERY excited when I heard my name called! Now I was on Wonderama....and I still have my Lender's bagel necklace to prove it!

LOL!. Me too. Being on Wonderama was a huge deal, I actually won something in a game-- a few board games. It was so exciting.

I remember one time, my brother's name was called and he freaked out because he was sitting in front of the TV in just his underwear, and thought that she could see him in his underwear.

Heh heh... he's 43 and I'm 40 now. I think I need to call and remind him of this today.

:lmao:

The Romper Room I was almost on was September 1962:scared1: I was 4 years old and starting kindergarten in Michigan. The show was taped in Windsor, Canada.

I never missed a show without having my box that I used as my car, my Mr. Do Bee, my basket to practice good posture and my punching ball.

My other favorite TV show was The Beany and Cecil Show. How many remember that?

It was VERY exciting! People don't believe me when I say that I was on it, so I take out my bagel necklace and they freak out. Everyone wants to know if they really gave out the Oral-B toothbrush. I tell them of course, along with a copy of Dynamite magaize and a bunch of other goodies! I was on the show with Tavares singing "It only takes a minute" and Paul Williams singing the "Bugsy Malone" song (the movie was being released at that time)! I remember wishing that Scott Baio would have been there to promote the movie! Oh what great memories!
***"Kids are people too....wacka doo, wacka doo, wacka doo"***

Yes I used to watch it all the time and was also on it!!!
My next door neighbor and I got to be on. They taped two shows but she had a meltdown and they would not let her go on the 2nd show due to this.
I was sad the 2nd show since my friend was not on it with me.
I remember they gave us little boxes of cereal.
I haven't thought about this in years. Thanks for the memory!!!!!

Not only do I remember Beany and Cecil Show, in first grade I had a Beany and Cecil luchbox and the hat with the propellers on it that spun around when you went down the slide!

I remember Romper Room, Gene London, Happy the Clown, Bozo the Clown, Captain Kangaroo, and one that no one else ever seems to remember - Pixanne!

Yes, I remember Romper room. They came to the local mall once and filmed a show which I was on. I still feel special to this day!! Thanks for the memory!!!:cloud9:

I dont know why I am asking. Just thought about it and wandered who else was on it. Do you remember waiting for your name to be called? Ok, I am showing my age............

Now singing :happytv:

Bend and stretch
Reach for the stars
There goes Jupiter there goes Mars

Bend and stretch
Reach for the sky
Stand on tippytoe oh so high...

Romper, bomper stomper doo tell me tell me tell me true
Magic mirror tell me today have all my friends had fun at play?

My name was never called. :sad2:

Those are probably the wrong words, I always screwed them up. :rotfl:

I don't remember this at all, but my mom told me that my preschool was on a local show once, I think they called it the new zoo review or something like it. It was something like romper room. Back then, there were no vcr's or anything so I have no way of ever seeing it.

I loved Roomper Room also. But, don't forget Kucla, Fran & Ollie and Howdy Doody.

Wow, the memories came rushing back!!! Miss Barbara was the ladies name here back in Ohio. it would really tick me off when she would always mention my brothers name (Bobby) at the end and would never say mine (Debbie). I always wanted one of the cars that they would pretend to drive.

I remember the New Zoo Review too!!!!

What was the teacher's name on Roomple Room????

I am trying to say Miss Sally but i am not sure. i can not belive she pinched someone. i always wanted to be just like her when i grew up!

Bozo was the best. :thumbsup2 I had my name drawn from the bozo bucket and won some prizes. The girl only got to bucket number 2 I think but it was still cool. I went to school the next day and no one would believe me. That was until I got the postcard in the mail and brought it to school. They sure do not make the shows like they used to. Everything is so animated now.

We used to line up buckets from the garage and do our own ball tosses a la the Bozo show. That and Romper Room, Electric Company, Mister Rogers... and then we got into Fraggle Rock, Smurfs, the Muppet Show (for family time! Remember family time on TV???). I'm sad for my kids, everything is so stylized and commercialized now.

And I was on Romper Room, but can barely remember it. It taped in Wausau, Wisconsin, and I remember getting up REALLY early to drive there for it. I think I'd better send Mom a note to get the details... that's a memory worth remembering...

Oh my - i loved romper room! Does anyone remember Magic Garden? I loved that show also. I was just talking with DD8 about things that we have now as opposed to when I was a little girl.

She laughed so hard when among other things I told her I did not have remote controls and DVD's. She just thought that was the funniest thing.

You know, you can go to your library and they may have copies of some of the old episodes. I got some of Electric Company once.

I loved the Smurfs!!

My DH was on Romper Room! I used to love that show. I wonder if I ever saw my future husband on it???:scratchin :happytv:

I loved Captain Kangaroo too. I remember Picture Pages from that show, Mr. Moose, Mr. Greenjeans, and also some dumb song about brushing your teeth:
"Brush your teeth, round and round. Circles small, gums and all. A small, soft toothbrush, the round and round way, will keep your gums healthy, and stop tooth decay. So clean very carefully, three time a day. Go round and round. Round and round.":rotfl:

But I have to say that my favorite show was the Electric Company. "HEY YOU GUYS!" Oh, and remember Letterman and Spiderman.:thumbsup2

Just FYI if you don't know, all the Romper Rooms were locally produced in the markets they aired in. So you might have had Miss Molly in NY, Miss Sally in Chicago, etc...

Anyway, I was on the show on my 6th birthday! I remember doing some kind of calisthenics "touch your toes, do jumping jacks" kind of thing. At snack time, we had vienna fingers. I never had those until that day and they still remind me of Romper Room!!

But here's the funny part -- I was on the show in NY and it was taped in Times Square. If you are not from around here, you might not recall the state of Times Square in the mid '70's. We are talking porno heaven. The studio was on the second floor of a building that housed some very adult theatres on the ground level. I remember my mom telling me to just look straight ahead when we went through the doorway between two XXX movie houses!!
