So we are on the boat Headed to MGM. It was a nice ride over and the boys really liked it. We did experience our first "Why you gotta have a wheelchair? It's in my way moment" on the ride over. It was fairly crowded as it was EMH that night at MGM. We ended up on the inside sitting on the last row with Braeton in front of us. There was a couple sitting next to me and a family standing in front of us right next to the chair. When the boat took off the chair moved about a half an inch. I was holding onto it and the brakes were on so it wasn't very much. But the little girl who kept tugging away from her Dads hands was next to it and she kind of leaned on Braeton. Now he does have sensory issues and all the people the strange pace, and the noise was getting to him. Plus he was still not feeling well remember? Anyway he just kind of wimpered and went MAMA. So I leaned over and started talking softly to him and trying to show him the water and the lights. The little girl by now was trying to crawl on the floor. Now this boat was VERY crowded. I couldn't even move my legs without bumping into something. Her Brothers were laughing and pushing and the parents were talking to some other people and paying no attention. Anyway she bumped into one of his brakes which made the chair lurch right into my DHs legs. we set the brake and then she decided to put her hands under the wheels. I politely told her, Honey you will get hurt, those wheels are heavy. about that time the boat stopped and she fell into the chair. She started crying and the parents weren't very happy with us. We got some looks and 1 of them went so far as to comment that w/c should be on the outside of the boat. Well that's where we would have preferred, but there was no room.
Oh Well this is DISNEY WORLD we aren't going to let that spoil our fun!!!
So we made it to MGM and off the Boat we went. We went through our first bag check. OH NO!! Not thinking I had hooked the backpack on the arms of the chair before I put the handle in place, so out of line I went and finally got the bag off. After waiting in a LONG line got the bags checked (took about 3 seconds ) and off to the gates we went. We walked in and just looked around it was so neat. It was already getting dark and all the lights were on and everything was just too cool! We saw some "movie stars" doing their show and then walked on down until we found out where Fantasmic was. It was already full!!!! Now MGM closed at * and that is when the last show was, but tonight was EMH so we were going to go do something else. We went to leaveand the CM said. We are going to have another show at 9 tonight be here @ 8:30!!!
All RIGHT so we looked around and was going to do TOT but all 3 of my Men did not want to do this and I didn't want to go by myself. Come on guys lets do the first thing together!! So we went and got our arm bands and then we just kind of walked around we got some snacks and checked out some shops and OH LOOK!! PHOTOPASS!! Hey the DIS says we GOT to do this so we did!
Notice poor Braeton? He just didn't know what to do poor baby. He was still not feeling well, but insisted he wanted to go do some rides.
So we went and got in line for Fantasmic. We were some of the first in line. We were the 2nd w/c people. When they opened the ropes we headed on down to wait some more. We were in front of a really nice extended family and got to taking to them. The Dad/son-in-law was in the Army and had been on several tours to Iraq. My nephew is over there and is also in the Army. so we got to talking about it. Anyway when they dropped the ropes a CM asked us if we wanted to sit on top or down front. The boys said DOWN FRONT. The CM let usknow we would get wet, which I already knew from reading the DIS. So a nice lady in a scooter comes and leads us down. Now I have to mention that I was very impressed with all the CMs in w/c. It was really neat. The CM that led us to the show was a younger man that had a powered w/c that he steered w/controls to his mouth. GO HIM!!! It showed that YOU can have a life with disabilities!!!
Anyway this nice older lady leads us down this curving path and we almost collide a few times. It was kind of funny we had 2 run away wheelchairs!!! So we sit down in the very front, right in the middle. And we are ready for the show!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We are going to really LOVE this!!! Right???
