Well sadly, the day was finally here. Leaving Disney day. Booooooo!
But, believe it or not, there were a couple of silver linings. The first was that we were both keen to get home and see Annie our cat again!! She was still having antibiotics twice a day and we really just wanted to take her home to our place and give her big cuddles!
The second silver lining was that before we left, we had a breakfast ADR at...
Whispering Canyon Cafe!
Our flight didn't leave Orlando until 2pm, so we had plenty of time for a nice relaxing breakfast before we left. Yay! And it was easy too - we just had to wander downstairs.
We checked in and were seated straight away. We'd been here for dinner earlier in our trip remember, but not breakfast. It was much quieter at breakfast! Not as rowdy, but still fun.
Our server came along and introduced himself. I can't remember his name, but he looked just like Robert Downey Jnr! Hello! Trixiequilts, you would have loved him! He was a fun server - he really did seem like a cowboy. He called me "little lady" and winked at me everytime he spoke. Hehee.
Anyhoo, we started with some drinks. We both had smoothies - DH's was the flavour of the day, which I think was mango, and mine was the Mega-Berry smoothie.
Yum!! These were great! So refreshing! I wish I had a Mega-Berry Smoothie right now, actually...
After he delivered our drinks, our server asked where we were from and when we told him Australia, he whooped and hollered and told the tables around us, "Y'all! These folks are all the way from Australia! Have you ever seen Australians before!? Have a good look at 'em!!"
Oh my goodness!!!!
How embarrassing!!! People on the table next to us really did have a good look at us, too!! Funny!
Anyway, we liked our server. He was fun and silly. And handsome.
So our meals!! I went with the Breakfast Skillet - Scrambled Eggs, Red Bliss Potatoes with Sauteed Onions, Bacon, Sausage, Buttermilk Biscuits, Sausage Gravy, and Waffles...
Wow! That's a lot of food. I didn't end up eating half of it, but it was delicious!! I asked for it without gravy too, so that's missing from the plate. I had a little taste of everything, and it was all good. The bacon was great, the eggs were delicious, and who doesn't love Mickey waffles!? I still can't really handle sausages for breakfast, so I didn't have much of them, but I enjoyed it all! Plus, did I mention how massive it was!?
I was almost finished picking away at my plate, when our spunky server wandered over and piled on another huge serving of eggs onto my plate. Waaah! I said, "Wow, thanks but I don't think I can eat the ones I already had!" to which he replied, "Oh, crap!!! I gave them to the wrong table!!" Apparently the table next to us had ordered more eggs, but he gave them to me instead.
He told the other people to just steal them from my skillet. I thought he was serious for a second, but no. He was kidding. Phew!! A minute later, he was back with more eggs for them!
DH decided to order the Ham and Cheese Omelet- three egg omelet with ham and cheddar cheese, served with red bliss potatoes with sauteed onions...
He really enjoyed this too! He loves his omelets, and he gobbled this right up.
And he helped me out with my skillet a bit too, stealing some bacon and sausage.
We had a fun time there, and the food was great. It was all very relaxed and easy - perfect for a last day breakfast. We were glad we'd made this ressie - it allowed us to leave with a smile on our faces and full bellies for the plane ride home!
We gave Whispering Canyon Cafe 4 smiley men out of 5.
And that, my DIS friends, was our last meal at Disney!! Waaaaaaaahhhh!!
I'll be back with my very last post - a little summary of my thoughts and favourites and least favourites.
