OT: ChaCha

I have been on ChaCha for a little over a year, but don't do it as much anymore. The days where you could make $10 an hour are long gone. I tend to hop on during the high volume alerts hoping the traffic will be there. But I can't bring myself to sit in front of my computer for an hour for $1. As always though, I still heart ChaCha! :lovestruc

I still do it from time to time. The motivation just isn't there for me. At $.20/question it used to rack up pretty quickly. Now, it's just so depressing working an hour & checking my progress...

But my questions, when I do it, though sometimes they start out slow w/ say a minute between each question, are usually b2b w/ after the first 5-10 minutes. If you're slow all the time, there may be something wrong...maybe send a message to ChaCha? I also, seem to get mostly $.10-.12 questions, with a $.16 math question thrown in now & then...better than when it was ALL $.10, but nowhere NEAR as good as when they were all $.20! :confused3 Still, money is money.

I know if I actually set aside a couple hours a day, I could make decent money. The time I do it now, though, I make $100 every few months. LOL People ARE still making money on ChaCha, but they're putting time in to do it, I think.

PP making $300/mth, can I ask how much time you do it each day? I'd like to get to $300/mth...just need the motivation. :)

The time varies I try to do at least 10 a day:) That usually 5 in the morning until noon and the other 5 before 10 at night

Is anyone still on ChaCha? :confused3 I'd been lurking on this thread for awhile and have been on ChaCha for about a week. The only time it's been btb was Saturday night at like 2 a.m. Other than that I get one or two questions every half an hour. I do enjoy it but if it stays like this it's going to take me 3-4 months before I even get to the $100! I'd be perfectly happy making $.12 a question if I got more questions. How's everyone else doing?

I'm also am a member of kgb.com but haven't started answering any questions (I passed the Simulator a few weeks ago). I thought I would try ChaCha first since they pay more. I wonder if kgb has a higher frequency of questions.

I'm almost always B2B when I log on... but I kind of backed off after the first paycut, and then stopped for 2 weeks after the 2nd...It just got depressing I was making $600 a month and then got my pay cut almost in half. I just started KGB, and although its a lot of fun, the frequency is nowhere near that of ChaCha. I make like $3 an hour on ChaCha and $1.50 an hour on KGB. I mostly just click on questions on kgb just to see the "someone beat you to it" thing. Last night I tried doing both at the same time...:rotfl:

How do you know when there's a high traffic alert? Do you get an email or is there a message or something? I'm still trying to learn and my head must be full of marbles cause I have the hardest time navigating around the "Knowledgebase". :) I love it though! It's so funny some of the questions (of course, I don't offend easily).

:lmao:I was thinking of doing the same thing but then I was trying to play a (timed) game on yahoo last night while I ChaCha'd and I was so stressed out! Dis'ing is pretty much all I do when on ChaCha now :) (hence my posts at midnight).

I have to agree the motivation to do ChaCha is gone. I wonder if being an expeditor would be better? The only questions that seem to come through now are the harder ones to answer and take a while - I would think I could do a much higher volume as an expeditor than a guide.

Yes, you should get a email. Weekends are the best time for them

I'm an Expeditor and stay pretty busy. I was just wondering how few questions get through to guides now that there are SO many ways for an expeditor to send an answer directly to the customer (and get dinged if they don't and pass it on to a guide).

okay, I have tried to read and see what chacha is but not finding it. What is it? Thanks

ChaCha works as follows:

1) a person texts for free (or they're charged by their cell phone provider if they don't have texting) ANY question to ChaCha (242242).
2) that question goes through the internet and is distributed to people (like us) on their computers waiting to get their question
3) we then research and find an answer and type it into a little window and reference a "source" (like whatever website we got the info from)
4) the answer goes to the person's phone that texted the question

ChaCha "guides" (the people that answer the questions) get paid $.10 to I think $.20-$.22 per question depending upon what category the question falls under.

It was kind of stressful...the questions would both come in at the same time...I made a lot more money though, but I felt bad because it took me longer.

Also, they aren't hiring right now, but there are different roles. Ask around to you 'real life' friends to see if anyone is doing it already. I was surprised to find others I knew who did it...and there is a referral bonus, so you don't want to find out you could've been earning your BFF some money.:goodvibes

today has been awful for me! Soooo slow! I've been on most of the morning and probably done less than 15 questions!

Last night I was logged on for 3 1/2 hours and got 4 questions!! I'm hoping it picks up tonight and this weekend.

I am a expeditor for Chacha, been working almost a month. I know they pay out on the 15th of the month. ? is do most of other guides/expeditor take their pay through direct deposit into their accounts or through the visa card? I know if you use the card, you are charged a fee, any other pros or cons?
Thanks

I opted for the debit card because at the time I didn't feel comfortable giving my account information out. I could just see it turning out to be a scam and my checking account being wiped out. They are legit though so I wouldn't hesitate to give it to them now. The debit card costs me $2.00 each time I transfer money...I just wait as long as I can to transfer and refuse to do it with less than $100.00.

Do you mind me asking, I'm a specialist/generalist but I've been thinking about seeing if I could switch to an expeditor. I understand you get paid $.03/question. How long does each question take you? Are you b2b when you're logged on? How much can you make in an average hour? Since they changed things my questions are slow in coming. And I've noticed that I'm not getting the .10 easy questions I had been (I'm assuming expeditors are handling those now).

Thanks,

Kira

I have been seeing posts about generalists not being busy. Most nights, I usually log in around 8:30 pm and go sometimes until midnight constantly busy. I need to figure out how much I am making an hour, but I forget and get busy. I bet I probably had a minute or so between questions and yes, most of them are quick answer ones now. My goal is to make $100 to $150 per month. I am going on a trip with my girls on the 27th so I am working extra hard right now.

I would guess it takes me a minute or two to handle most questions.

I'm a ChaCha guide. I've been doing it about 8 1/2 months now. I've made as much as $100 in a week. It works out great for me since I have little ones at home. I hop on and off during the day and then get on for a few hours after they go to bed.

I just closed my chacha account today. I was an expeditor, but at .03 per question, I couldn't imagine how many hours I'd have to work to make money. I've been enrolled since October, but I mostly worked March and April; I'm cashing out with $65. Ugh.

I'm also a bit annoyed with their newest policies regarding quick answers - it seems to me that they're trying to get more and more expeditors to do a specialist's job for a LOT less money. I signed on to direct the questions to the right people, not to answer over half the questions myself.

JMO, of course.
