Oh the Tragedy! No Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake this time! Updates x 5 9/30

Me too we both enjoyed dinner so much with you guys! Enjoy your trip!!

Mega food update. Wow. My head is spinning from seeing all that food porn, but I think my favorite picture is of those two darling kids starting through the CP door.

How great that you got to meet Melissa. I have been following her TR and her son is so adorable.

And another trip? Let's see - May, July/August, and October. NICE!!!!! Hope you have a wonderful time. And, yes, once again we will just be missing each other. Have a great time!

On my, so many fab updates to catch up on!
The Wave breakfast menu looks really interesting but I'm not sure I would make a special trip to dine there
Love the photos from CP!
Plaza fries and the best :-)
Totally agree with you on the BoG Dinner Vs Lunch. We really didn't enjoy our dinner there, soooo salty. We loved the lunch though. Philip had the roast beef sandwich and raved about it to
Have an amazing trip with Em and enjoy food and wine x

Thanks for hanging in there with this DR that took a little longer to complete than I'd planned.... I wish I had more DISboard time but such is the season in life.

I have yet to share our 15 days of Disney dining from our July/August trip so if I can find some free time I may queue that one up to share. :)

This is concluding right before Em and I depart for a short trip to WDW for F&W and a few Disney dining favorites.

Happy Disney dining everyone and thank you again for reading along! :goodvibes

Brenda,, We enjoyed reading your report as always.. We hope the two of you enjoy the F&W .. and we look forward to reading your next report when you have the time to start posting it.... Mike

Wow you really packed a lot of dining into your last 2 days. I love the idea of a casual dinner on your balcony, what a great way to really take it in and easy at the same time. I'm with you on BoG, lunch is good when you can get in with little wait but our dinners have been disappointments. The castle is nice to check out, but with the less than stellar dinner it's a one and done for me.

Thanks for letting us tag along for what is always a fabulous dining adventure.

Hope you two had an amazing time at food and wine!

Great report, Brenda! I'm all up-to-date on your latest dining and trip reports.

I'm quite sad you weren't able to enjoy your favorite dessert on this trip, but have no doubt you will rectify this on one of your upcoming trips!

Thanks for another fantastic dining adventure! :goodvibes

Just a comment about your Grand Floridian Cafe breakfast...we ate there for the first time last Saturday morning it was AMAZING (and reasonably priced for a Disney restaurant). We also had Robert as a server and I absolutely LOVED him, he was hilarious!!

Loved, loved, loved these reviews!! Makes me want to go back right now but looks like it may be closer to next spring. Serious Disney withdrawls kicking in!

I hope you and Em have a great trip! I'm sorry to miss you once again. :sad1:

I have a list of food we have eaten on our latest trip thanks to dining reviews like yours:

Crews Cup Lounge - I had the short ribs and they were very good, but the best part was the mashed potatoes that I had subbed for the risotto. Those mashed potatoes were SO GOOD! It was probably the same ones that the Yachtsmen serves. The Angus cheeseburger is also delicious, and cheaper than one at the Plaza. ;)

Liberty Tree Tavern - my DH decided to try the pot roast and you were right, it was delicious. I had to eat some of his meal as well as my own turkey dinner. And the Ooey Gooey Toffee Sundae was as good as ever.

We had the cheese soup and the mushroom filet at the Canada booth at F&W. The filet was good and served medium rare, my favorite way to eat good meat. The cheese soup was good, too, but a little bit small for the price. I was really glad that they served those items at F&W since that was the only way we were going to taste them. :)

Captain's Grille - we ate breakfast there three times last week and I have to agree that the breakfast buffet is good but not great. I think that the food is probably fresher and tastier when ordered off the menu. The same was probably true about your breakfast at the Wave.

Be Our Guest lunch - we've eaten there before and I like the pork dish. The lemon raspberry puff pastry is really good. :)

Thanks for posting such a detailed and fun trip report. It is always a pleasure to read your threads. :)

Darn if our timing left a lot to be desired. Bummer that we missed you. But seriously you are leaving in 2 days for another trip to WDW? I want to be you! ;) It seems every time I look at your ticker you are ready to launch another trip. I'm jealous of course.

Glad to see you enjoyed some of my favorites. I ended up being too cheap to pay $7.50 for a tiny portion of the mushroom filet at the Canada booth. That plus I was never hungry enough to graze around the world. But we did try a couple good things.

I agree with your Captain's Grille observation. We ordered off the breakfast menu this last trip and it was far better than the buffet. I can only take so many mediocre heat lamp warmed over selections suppose.

Thanks again for reading along Sue. More importantly.... enjoy your trip!

Thanks for spending your free time giving us amazing dining reviews. I totally agree about BOG. We went there for dinner in Dec 2012 and I wasn't blown away. I think the lunch offerings are much better and hopefully I'll snag a FP+ for us when the time is closer.

Thanks again and can't wait to read your next report! :thumbsup2

Thanks for spending your free time reading! :lmao:

After 3 mediocre dinners and 1 fabulous lunch - I'm a big fan of lunch. I can give up posing with the Beast as long as they have those great lunch options AND those fabulous cupcakes.

So here’s my honest opinion. I would prefer corn dog nuggets from Casey’s Corner than re-book dinner at BoG. However…. I would book a BoG lunch before I’d book a YSH dinner! True! So what I’m saying is that I loved lunch at BoG and enjoyed almost all of the benefits of the dinner experience and actually adored my entrée choice. For me, that holds more value than greeting the Beast or waiting to be shown to my table and having someone take my order. Maybe I just haven’t found the dinner entrée that would make this place worthy of re-booking… I’m not certain but with such a strong lunch option I may not give dinner another chance.

That’s a Wrap! So ended our dining for this trip. :)

I absolutely agree with you on the preference of corn dog nuggets over the BOG dinner. Our dinner there was horrible. However, we LOVE the lunch. My husband and I usually share the roastbeef and turkey sandwiches. We did enjoy our Yachtsman dinner though. Great updates and can't wait to read your next report![/QUOTE]

If they'd put those sandwiches on the BoG dinner menu I'd reconsider my boycott of dinner. I had my eye on the turkey sandwich as well so I'm glad you endorse it as well.

I'm glad you enjoyed your YSH dinner. I honestly miss it. (It could be onion roll withdrawals as well.) We've skipped it the last two trips and I'm ready to try it again... we'll return sometime.

Thanks for reading!

Bravo Brenda! :worship: Congrats on completing another great dining report. I've been absent from the DIS for awhile now so was happy when I checked in today and found the last of your reviews from May. As of now I'm planning to visit four of the five places from your final reviews during my upcoming trip so was very glad to read your reviews.

Anyway, I look forward to reading your next dining report and then the next one after that. ;) Have a great trip this weekend! Say hello to Paula & Hunter for me. :wave2:

Hi Barb! I'm glad to see you drop by before you head out soon. Hmmmm I wonder which of the four you'll visit?? If you don't visit Contempo Café then my guesses will be correct.

I'm going to miss meeting up with you and the gals. I'll look forward to reading about your dining adventures.

Wow...you sure packed them in here.

I'm so glad you guys got to Crystal Palace and love the photos of the characters with you, and the photos of my puffed French toast.

The Plaza! I made Mark order the fries while I got the chips and we shared. It's always a great meal, and glad Michael was willing to share with you.

One of these days I am going to get to The Wave.

Have fun with Em at F&W.

Hi Kathy! Darn if I didn't plan better last trip. I could have tried to see you before you headed to Nicki-land!

Oh man! That Pooh's puffed French toast is so good. I'll gladly hang out in the kids' food section at that buffet.

I figured making Michael share the burger and banana split was asking a lot - it's a wonder he still wanted to hang out with me. I've yet to try those chips. The reality is that the fries suck me in and won't let me go. :rotfl2:

Thanks, we really enjoyed our F&W trip.

Sad that your report has come to an end but hopeful you will find the time to share more dining experiences with us. Have a great F&W trip!

The dreaded two top table at a buffet. :rotfl2: My eldest daughter and I got one at Chef Mickeys and it was a challenge.

I fell in love with the CP breakfast on our first visit in May. Such great interaction and super good choices. Mickey waffles and puffed French toast. SO GOOD! I also seem to recall making a trip up for more breakfast potatoes.

Yay for BOG lunch redeeming itself! And for the line moving quickly! I still haven't been in yet but it is definitely a priority for us next time although since we are mostly vegetarian the menu is a bit shaky for both lunch and dinner. I will have to figure that out.

Thanks again for the great reviews! :flower3:

Stacy, thanks again for reading along! And thanks for the well wishes for our last trip. It was not short on some great dining options.

Those two top tables at a buffet just don't make sense. ;) I was in danger of handing a plate of food to Pooh to hold for me while I made room. I'd have to warn him that I knew how many waffles were on my plate so don't swipe any!

I wonder if BoG would offer any off-menu veggie options. They seem to have only 1 salad and 1 hot entrée veggie option on the menu. Seems like it would be fairly easy to ask for a veggie version of at least a sandwich. Not sure but heck, I wish you the best with your dining adventures there!

Great news!! Thank you so much! I butchered your response and the other restaurant wasn't yet built when I was at Disneyland in 2005. I was one of the crazy people who waited in DCA all night to get into the 50th birthday merchandise lines, lol. :goodvibes:

Oh Wow! That's awesome that you scored some 50th bday swag. I only have a button to mark the occasion. I recall the crazy media on that day and we couldn't even get close to the castle. :)

I still don't recall Figaro fries but I most certainly will never forget Plaza Inn fried chicken and biscuits!

Now I want to thank you for another wonderful report!! We will be arriving 10/17 for a week and I'm really excited about F&W and LUNCH at BOG!! This will be our first time there and with all the review of lunch being better than dinner we felt it was a safer choice.

Looking forward to more of your trip and dining reports!!!

Seeing as how you are in WDW NOW, I hope you are enjoying your trip.

Happy dining and I hope BoG delights.

Me too we both enjoyed dinner so much with you guys! Enjoy your trip!!

And here's another DISer that is in WDW right now! I hope you are enjoying your time there.

Those little kids were so adorable when they peeked in and saw the characters. It brings me back all those years ago to when my kids were little....

I was so glad that our travel dates overlapped Melissa's. Gavin is so adorable and he reminds me of my boys when they were little...

Which gives me the perfect excuse to bust out this photo of my boys from 1987 at Halloween-time. I miss those days! As an empty nester, I'm sure you get that.

Believe me, I'm bummed that my timing stinks and once again our dates didn't coincide.

ENJOY your trip!!! I look forward to reading all about it. :thumbsup2

Hi Linda! Thank you.

Honestly, Em has always been a bigger fan of The Wave than me. It wasn't until I discovered cheesy grits that I decided I like it. Unless you are staying at the CR or nearby it isn't tops on the list of places to try.

I'm definitely a fan of BoG lunch. As long as they keep those cupcakes on the lunch menu I'll keep coming back.

Thanks - we loved our F&W trip. Likewise, enjoy your trip! :goodvibes

Brenda,, We enjoyed reading your report as always.. We hope the two of you enjoy the F&W .. and we look forward to reading your next report when you have the time to start posting it.... Mike

Thanks Mike! I'm so glad that you followed along! :goodvibes

We enjoyed F&W with more food than wine. :p

Thanks Kari! I'm glad that you tagged along. :)

Sometimes we reach maximum overload for food and we have to bring it down a notch. A light dinner on the balcony was the answer at that moment.

I was glad that we didn't have to wait that long for BoG. I was prepared to hang out as long as was necessary to make that lunch. Not sure we'll book dinner again with the great lunch options.

Hope you two had an amazing time at food and wine!

Thanks Lori! It was great. :)

:goodvibes

Thanks Jenny! Glad that you were able to read through to the end!

Ahh yes, that tragedy was not repeated in July/August....;)

Just a comment about your Grand Floridian Cafe breakfast...we ate there for the first time last Saturday morning it was AMAZING (and reasonably priced for a Disney restaurant). We also had Robert as a server and I absolutely LOVED him, he was hilarious!!

Oh wow!! I'm glad that you not only loved your GFC breakfast but that you were able to experience Robert! We love him! If he didn't talked about his upcoming trip to TN I'd be shocked. He is so excited for his vacation. After he broke my heart by telling me he wasn't going to come see me at Disneyland. :rotfl:

Loved, loved, loved these reviews!! Makes me want to go back right now but looks like it may be closer to next spring. Serious Disney withdrawls kicking in!

Thank you, I'm so glad that you read along. :goodvibes

Hang in there, next Spring will be her before you know it. The anticipation of the next trip is always part of our the excitement.

Pecos Bill is so good.

Have to try HDDR one day.

Love that cheddar soup. I make it at home and think I will soon being it is getting colder.

Yes I would have eaten the bread too. Maybe all of it.

Sorry about your steak. I go to Kona for the scallops, they are so good.

Love CP. Nice pics with the characters.

Might need to try The Wave again. We had the buffet and it was not good.

Great report. Thanks for sharing.

Hi, Brenda! Sorry I was so late reading. Summer was a little stressful plus computer problems. This was my DR that I read. I loved every minute of it. If I ever get caught up on every ones trips, I plan on reading your earlier DR. Cant wait for your next report. Don't rush. Oh I forgot, It was great hearing you got to see your son!

Brenda, looks like winter may finally be behind us in western NY along with the endless snowblowing . Looks like we can Finaly plan out first return to WDW in close to 4 years. Your dinning reports have given us a number of new options. When might might we all look forward to your next report?
