How is a Disney Trip Like a Writing Desk: A PTR through Wonderland UPDATED: 9/18/10

:cool1: What is it today, 4 days? Woo Hoo!!! :cool1:

I'm so excited for you, although I'm still a bit sad we are just missing each other this year.

How much do I love the dancing broccoli?!!.......:upsidedow You're right of course, nutrition should be balanced.

.

Why should the nanners have all the fun?

Brook, I thought you were going to ride HM with Leslie. :(

That's what I was thinking too!

It's the Wild Mouse on steroids. I don't recommend it.

Mental note: two thumbs down. Way down.

Five days! And I need a little of that dancing nutrition today!

Mee too. My allergies are kicking my butt this week!

Oh, and while you are taking money out of the bank, send a little to me.

I'll get right on that. ;)

 the dancing brocoli-my 4 yr old said-those are green bananas with a lid LOL

How darn cute is that?! :goodvibes

Congrats to ur man-I bet he will do great!!

I was supposed to. :guilty: But sadly, it remains undone.

I do PLAN to do it. I'm not scared of it anymore (mostly! ;))...you guys have convinced me that it's campy silly fun. I won't avoid it next trip!

(I almost didn't want to post this knowing I'd be ruining something from the TR!)

Brook, I was scared of it too well into my adult years, but that was moreso because I had very scary memories of some other local haunted houses. Still do. I can't do any type of creepy walkthrough attraction either. Case in point: tried to do 'The Mummy' attraction in US Hollywood (it's a walkthrough, not a rollercoaster, like Orlando). Had a severe panic attack in the middle of the attraction. Security saw it on the cameras. A ride employee came and found me and assisted me out through an emergency exit. Took me all day to recover. HOR-RI-BLE.

I took a chance and rode HM about...hmmm...8 years ago with my eyes open. I've loved it ever since. The carnosaur on Dinosaur scares me more than the HM. I don't like be screamed at in the face like that. LOL

Tink, check your PMs ;) I think we'll be shooting for tomorrow, if that still works? I'll let you know as soon as I get the a-okay from our friend.

I wish there were dancing Meatballs.
I shall do a mini-report of our DISMeet either tomorrow or Friday here on the PTR, if that's ok with you.

Any news on your third floor apartment?

:sad2:

Not yet. They have until I get off the train tomorrow evening to get back to me. Then I'm calling with my unhappy pants on.

Mmm...onion rings. Yet another food I can't eat right now. Dang milk allergies.

I bet you could baste them in just an egg wash and then bread crumbs and bake them.

Well, I may be  on the outside, but inside I'm a wee bit :sad1: I'm going to miss my girl Tink, even if you will call me lots.

Every day, love.

And I had to chuckle a bit over BF and the test. When I read about the upper body strength, I thought, well, duh. :lmao:

:rotfl:

I'm so excited for you, although I'm still a bit sad we are just missing each other this year.

I know. And more than ever, right now. You could use a big 'ol TINK hug. And TINK gives great hugs.

I feel the need to continue to showcase other dancing produce lest the nanner get too self-important:

You're welcome for all of that beta-carotene! Your eyes will thank you!

Four days, my friends. And three work days. And today has been (knock on wood) perfectly delightful to get through.

Oh.

Except for the near CONSTANT sneezing. My allergies are driving me up and right back down the wall again. Blech. I'm hoping they settle down before the trip.

Hey Kat!

CLAFOOTIE!

Bless you.

;)

Sorry, inside jokes aside, it has been a great day thus far. I'm no longer watching Igor since he's going to be spinning somewhere far away from the East Coast Sunday and beyond. I did check in again on the Disney weather and it seems common sense has returned to the meteorologists and they've recalled that it's September. In Florida. For the T-Storms have returned to the forecast:

9/19: 89 with isolated t-storms
9/20: 89 and mostly sunny
9/21: 89 and mostly sunny
9/22: 89 and partly cloudy
9/23: 89 with isolated t-storms
9/24: 89 and sunny

:cloud9: Perfect. :cloud9:

One of the other things I've looked at is resort capacity. POP finally reached capacity about a week ago and is now sold out. I'm not sure if they've got any of the 50's buildings out of commission for refurb but they are, for all intents and purposes, FULL. All of the other Values are still available (and I considered moving for about a half-second) as are most of the other resorts. I think I saw that CSR is full and I didn't do too much research on the Deluxes. Mostly because I didn't want to be tempted by my Poly. And her beautiful grounds.

Though I did, ahem, price out switching up to a Mod.

What?! Who said that?

I did. But I'm not looking to spend another $500 for proximity to beignets or Old Port Royale so that idea quickly went the way of the dodo.

I feel like there was something else I wanted to talk about in terms of capacity...:scratchin:

Oh!

There are also still seats availalble on my flight, so here's to hoping it doesn't sell out and I can have an aisle seat with some room to spare next to me!

Final item of note is that DHS has expanded their hours for the 19th and the 23rd and added a second Fantasmic! show to each night. I'll be there on the 19th. So, hopefully, I can get a little more park touring in, if I have it in me, and see the later (and hopefully not rained out) show with less of humanity.

Not that I don't love my fellow humans.
It's their inconsistent use of deodorant. And brainpower.
And also? Don't climb over the benches, people!

Anyway...

Having reached the halfway point of the workweek, I think I'm in good shape and the next couple of days should be smooth-ish. I have a lunch DISmeet with Ashclan tomorrrow so that will definitely speed things up :woohoo:. If she's ok with it, I'll recap it here since it's actually kind of Disney related!!!

Then Friday I'll be leaving early as BF and I have a wedding to attend.

And it's a cakewalk from there until BF is speeding along I95S on Sunday morning to drop me off at Green!

Tomorrow...THREE DAYS!

:flower3:

I wish there were dancing Meatballs.
I shall do a mini-report of our DISMeet either tomorrow or Friday here on the PTR, if that's ok with you.

Fine with me! (Though you have to promise to be discreet in your reporting if I end up making too much of a pig of myself!;))

Beware the lure of the Poly......very strong, it is. Properly warned ye be says I.pirate:

I for one happen to think that the babnanas ARE self-important, thank you very much.:snooty: They're our mascot fruit, after all.

The rest of your week is looking good! SO stinkin' [NOnon-deordant] excited for you!!!!!!!!!!

:banana::banana::banana::banana: ( <-- self-important fruits )

.

DUDE. So. Strong. I almost thought, "To Hades with it - where's my credit card?!" Then when my Tink-emblazoned Disney VISA started to sob from the depths of my purse I came to my senses.

...

Tell me about it....:headache: I dropped a night off the original plan and I'm still gasping for breath every time I see that total.....:scared1:

But in our case, so worth it. Fulfilling the dream and all that.

.

Wow--I needed some of that beta-carotene. Thanks, Tink!

You know the funny thing about the whole pricing a mod? I decided the boat ride to Downtown Disney (and some extra delicious noms) and another set of extra delicious noms (beignets) were worth the extra $500.

No, I don't know what's wrong with me. But I'm not curing it right now.

I made the deposit plus a bit today. Within 5 minutes (no lie, I'll tell you) of me making that payment, the phone rings. It's Wachovia. Making sure I authorized such a large purchase. :rotfl2: Apparently, I've never made a purchase over $300 on my card without calling first. It was nice for the bank to flag it for me, though.

Oh you make me laugh!!! I'm looking forward to tomorrow's dancing produce!

Good job on resisting the Poly and POR. That is another benefit about DVC, while I still do want to stay at the Poly having ZERO for a room charge when we go at DVC is INCREDIBLY more alluring than any balance....so it's easy to resist.

But someday. :cloud9:

And I don't do the bank balancing, DH does. So it's like the dues and loan payment for DVC don't even exist. ::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes:: :flower3:

Thank you for your words on HM! I'm glad I'm not alone. 31 years old and I HATE that kind of stuff! UGH. But, again - glad to hear it's not scary and is just plain fun. I will try it, I will! Then I will have some excellent TR fodder about how my knees were knocking on the way in, but I was laughing at myself when I came out. :goodvibes

I hope your allergies settle down!! That is NOT cool before a Disney trip.

Three days! Woo Hoo!

:banana::banana::banana:

(I only have dancing bananas).

I love Fantasmic, but I'm right there with you about being crammed in there with a bunch of sweaty, icky people. Not my favorite part of my Disney vacations!

I first give you...THREE DANCING ONIONS!

onion-56.gif
onion-56.gif
onion-56.gif

Ok, so these dudes probably would've gone better with the title of Chp. 30's post but, well, you get what you get. So, three onions for three days.

Second, Disney weather continues to change on a minute-by-minute basis. Much like the status of Lindsay Lohan's sobriety. Here's the current recap:

9/19: 90 and mostly sunny
9/20: 90 and sunny
9/21: 89 and sunny
9/22: 88 and partly cloudy
9/23: 89 and isolated t-storms (which are welcome to visit any time except during MNSSHP
9/24: 89 and scattered t-storms (fitting...I think it ALWAYS rains when I'm in Epicot)
9/25: 88 and scattered t-storms (gosh...it would be horrible if they stranded me in Disney for another night, no?)

Third, only one day and a few hours of work left. I think I see the light.

Fourth. Dudes, I totally forgot yesterday's list! And NO ONE noticed. Hmph. Fine.

NO LISTS FOR YOU! Come back one year.

FYI-I've never seen that episode of Seinfeld. Heck, I don't think I've ever seen ANY full episode of Seinfeld. I didn't think it was that funny...

:duck:

I will resume the list-giving tomorrow.

Today we have something much more important, much more DE-lightful to discuss.

You know those things that, even in the "real" world, feel undoubtedly Disney? For example a couple for me are:

*riding a bus (I only do this in Disney)
*driving down to Kat's house (for some reason it takes me RIGHT BACK to the time I drove down for our trip last May)

Oh! And then there's one other. Three blissful lil' words.

EARL. OF. SANDWICH.

TINK loves her some EOS. Big time NOMs. And so when I discovered there was an EOS at Logan Airport, a mere 12 minutes (if it's 2 a.m. and there's no highway construction otherwise a 60 minute RT commute on public transportation) from my office, I just about up and died. Ok. Not died. I may or may not have done the running man at my desk.

That little nugget sat in my brain for a while. And then Susan (AshClan) and I started talking about it. Started talking about how suhweet it would be to have EOS for lunch. Together. I mean, how hard could it be? It's only at Logan.

On the OTHER side of the security checkpoint.

:headache:

Yeah. We were momentarily crushed.

Until Susan revealed her superpower - she knew someone on the INSIDE who could get us to the nommy sammies. :worship:

Angels sang.

I sang.

Badly.

I guarantee you everything that went down to get us onto the RIGHT side of security was totally legal. They scanned my purse and I had to take off my shoes and everything. Just like I was getting on a plane. Which, I admit, at this point in the game was a bit of a tease. But then I just thought - three little days. I can do it.

But I'm getting ahead of myself. So, the plan was confirmed yesterday - we'd meet today at 1:00 p.m. at Terminal E on the big globe (it's inlaid in the floor) to get our especially special super-not-so-secret-get-us-through-Security tickets. Which, after waiting for the train for the bus to the airport with some, well, interesting characters is EXACTLY what happened. I won't lie, as I was coming up the escalator to the gate level I was a wee nervous. That feeling you get when you're meeting someone for the first time that you kind of know a little but that you don't KNOW. You know? But it was all for naught. There she was a-waitin' on lil' ol' me with a big smile and a hug. We quickly made our way through the non-existent security line and into the gate area, chatting away about Susan's upcoming trips.

Oh. Let me stop now and say this.

Susan is a doll. Sweet. Hysterical. Easygoing. All that and a bag of chips.

Which we both passed on once we were on the RIGHT side of security and drool...er...gazing at the airport EOS menu. Which is a truncated version of the full menu. No meatball sammie. But that's ok. I had a back-up in mind already. Oh and they had these brownies?! About the size of your head...we passed on those too. But I did heft one in my had. BIG.

And I apologize now. No food porn from this DISmeet.

So, I had a bottle of water and the All American - turkey, cheddar, tomato, lettuce, cranberry and buttermilk ranch all piled onto that indescribably fantastic EOS bread. Susan had The Original 1762 - roast beef, cheddar cheese and creamy horseradish and also had a bottle of water.

Oh my. They were good sammiches. As I said to Susan, it was a little Disney in my day. :goodvibes

And, I'm sure, a whole lotto calories in my belleh.

So we sat and ate and talked. And talked. And talked. Talked about a whole bunch of DISers who I used to see (and enjoy) on the boards a while back who, well, for the most part are elsewhere. We talked about trips past and work and the lure of solo trips and life in general and before we knew it our lunch was gone and it was time to head back. At which time Susan said to me, "We haven't even talked about your trip!" To which I smartly responded, "Well you'll just have to read the trip report." ;)

We walked around in a couple of circles trying to figure out how to get back on the WRONG side of security. We did the WOMAN thing and looked at a map. And still we weren't sure. Seems once you're in the gate area they really want you to get on a plane. Who knew? We considered just saying to heck with it and jumping on a plane to Orlando. It was the Southwest terminal after all. But eventually we had a kind TSA agent point us in the right direction and we were on our way to the exit. We hugged again and both agreed we needed to do this again...well, maybe not the super-no-so-secret airport scenario, but we should definitely get together again.

What a wonderful time I had. Really. And such a great way to wind down my workweek. I had so been looking forward to this meet (and a sammie) and it definitely did not disappoint. Susan, again, it was so much fun to finally MEET you. ::yes::

And now, here I am, the workday before the last workday before my trip FINALLY winding down. I feel an odd sense of peace.

Or maybe that's just all that sandwich.

I feel a little slow, but I had no idea Earl of Sandwich was a chain until I read this and promptly decided to Google them. Sadly, the closest one to me is in Detroit, MI. Guess I'll just be getting my fix when I'm on my vacations.

But in our case, so worth it. Fulfilling the dream and all that.

Much like my Sept. 08 trip. I SO get you. ::yes::

You know the funny thing about the whole pricing a mod? I decided the boat ride to Downtown Disney (and some extra delicious noms) and another set of extra delicious noms (beignets) were worth the extra $500.

No, I don't know what's wrong with me. But I'm not curing it right now.

If this trip had been planned as a solo I'd be right on board with you sister. But as it wasn't it just doesn't...I dunno...GET me as being the right change to make. Especially this late in the game.

Apparently, I've never made a purchase over $300 on my card without calling first. It was nice for the bank to flag it for me, though.

Apparently they're all about making sure you REALLY want to send Walt that $$!!!

BF and I have had a few more small conversations about DVC. And it's an investment we'd consider...but not for a couple of years down the road for a few reasons.

I definitely want it. It's been on my "someday" list for a long time now.

Hmmm...what a GREAT birthday present that would make (for the rest of my life)...:scratchin

I love Fantasmic, but I'm right there with you about being crammed in there with a bunch of sweaty, icky people. Not my favorite part of my Disney vacations!

If I WANTED to touch hot, sweaty people I don't know, I'd hang out in a sauna.

I feel a little slow, but I had no idea Earl of Sandwich was a chain until I read this and promptly decided to Google them. Sadly, the closest one to me is in Detroit, MI. Guess I'll just be getting my fix when I'm on my vacations.

Don't feel slow. I assumed it was just a Disney thing until I was properly schooled myself.

NO LISTS FOR YOU! Come back one year.

FYI-I've never seen that episode of Seinfeld. Heck, I don't think I've ever seen ANY full episode of Seinfeld. I didn't think it was that funny...

:duck:

I have seen every episode about a gazillion times. And, shamefully, I agree with you. But the hubbah loves Seinfeld. So it's our go-to when there's nothing else to watch. Either that or Friends.

*riding a bus (I only do this in Disney)

And at Logan......;)

I guarantee you everything that went down to get us onto the RIGHT side of security was totally legal. They scanned my purse and I had to take off my shoes and everything. Just like I was getting on a plane. Which, I admit, at this point in the game was a bit of a tease. But then I just thought - three little days. I can do it.

Yep, more of a bummer for someone who has to wait 4 weeks....Not that I'm complaining. I know it could be much, much worse.

So, the plan was confirmed yesterday - we'd meet today at 1:00 p.m. at Terminal E on the big globe (it's inlaid in the floor) to get our especially special super-not-so-secret-get-us-through-Security tickets.

Dude. You are a better navigator than I. I asked Phil, "I thought you said to meet you at the big globe. What big globe? All I see is a flag..." Then he pointed to our feet. :headache: Only way I found him was because I heard his phone ringing when I called it!:rotfl2: (Guess you could call that echo-location.....)

Oh. Let me stop now and say this.

Susan is a doll. Sweet. Hysterical. Easygoing. All that and a bag of chips.

Awwww. Right back atcha!

Oh and they had these brownies?! About the size of your head...we passed on those too. But I did heft one in my had. BIG.

Y'know, I FULLY intended to go back up and get one of those after we finished the sammies. But we were having so much fun talking that I didn't want to get up and stop the conversation!

SO fun, but way too short. Next time we have to do dinner...... I hate having to watch the clock.

What a wonderful time I had. Really. And such a great way to wind down my workweek. I had so been looking forward to this meet (and a sammie) and it definitely did not disappoint. Susan, again, it was so much fun to finally MEET you. ::yes::

YOU TOO, Tink!!!!!!!!! Oh, and I wasn't nervous at all ;) I still can't believe we barely touched upon your trip. I promise I would've read the report regardless!!! But thank you so much for taking trains, planes, and automobiles (or trains, buses, and escalators) to come out to meet with me! It was awesome and fun and I can't wait to do it again (someplace downtown and more convenient to your office).

I am excited for you and the week you have coming up! HAVE A BLAST!!!!:woohoo:

Good to know that Logan has at least one redeeming quality!

Tink when you get back and after Wings gets back from her trip we MUST plan a NE DISmeet. Surley there is somewhere in the middle for all of us to meet and hang out for a day!

HERE, HERE!

This mom needs some girl time!

MMMM. EOS--the nom responsible for my booking POFQ.

HOOORAY for the Dismeet!

Didn't anyone tell you onions smell? Maybe they are there to scare away the bad workday?!?

I can't believe how soon it will be until you are there!
