Go Big or Go Home! 17 Days of Disney Dining! COMPLETE & Food & Wine Fest Index

Check-in was slightly bumpy at OKW, but pretty soon we were at our room and lugged all our stuff up to the second floor of our building. We didn't do much unpacking since we wanted to get to Hollywood Studios for the day. We spent a few hours there, but didn't get to do much because it was pretty packed. Eventually we were hungry and the food there doesn't interest us too much, so we headed to DTD.

I figured we would probably end up at WPE for this meal, but decided to walk around and check out our other options. We had Raglan Road reservations for another day, but we were walking by right when they were changing over to dinner for the day and there was no wait, so we decided to eat here.

Their outdoor menu sign. I love this as opposed to the little printed menus some places post near the door.

We were seated right away and our super friendly waitress came right over and took our drink orders. Rob started out with a beer.

And then another beer later on.

She also brought out Irish Soda bread with the Guinness and sugar dipping sauce.

This was so good! We ate most of the bread. The dipping sauce went with it perfectly.

Rob wanted to try two items off the appetizer menu instead of an entree. First he tried their soup of the day which was a mushroom soup.

He loved it! It was a really large portion too.

Next he tried the Nom Nom Wings. Sweet 'n spicy wings tossed in a honey, chili flake, soy and ginger sauce.

He was worried that this might only be 4 or 5 wings as an appetizer, but our waitress said that you got a lot. As you can see from the picture, it was definitely a lot of wings. They were pretty large as well. Rob really enjoyed these too. He was happy he went with the two appetizers as his meal.

I was torn between two different items and asked the waitress for advice. She liked both but swayed me a little towards the Gnocchi Sea Gnocchi Do. Homemade gnocchi with seared scallops and crispy pork belly sauteed in a tomato, broad bean and braised kale white wine butter sauce.

This. Was. AMAZING. I'm pretty certain that this is now the best thing I have ever eaten. Everything about it was phenomenal. The scallops were cooked perfectly, the pork belly was so good with the kale and the gnocchi just melted in your mouth. I am seriously drooling as I type this. Every time I would take a bite I would tell Rob, "Oh my God, this is so good!" According to our waitress this was a fairly new item at the time. I hope they keep it on the menu because I have to have this again next time.

Obviously I hated it. :lmao: :lmao:

Then I decided to try and stuff some dessert in me too because I had to try Ger's Bread & Butter Pudding. They were out of this when we ate here 4 years ago and I have been dying to try it ever since.

Once it is out of the cup it expands to about 3 times the size you think it is going to be. Then I covered it with the sauces they give you.

This is just about equal to 'Ohana bread pudding. I hate raisins and I wish it didn't have raisins in it, but I can deal. Take out the raisins and it's perfect! This was sooooo rich and Rob didn't want any, so I tried to eat this on my own. I got to a point where I would risk vomiting if I took another bite. I almost took that risk, but I finally put the silverware down and left the rest of the bread pudding behind. Seemed wrong, but I didn't think it would keep well, so I didn't box it up and take it with me. This dessert was awesome, but it really needs to be shared.

This was my second favorite meal of the trip and my entree here was my favorite dish overall this trip, or any trip for that matter. :thumbsup2

We were stuffed and happy, so of course we went to see another movie!

Up next, late night dinner and a seasonal movie classic!

Loved the RR review! I want to eat there so badly - we had planned to this last trip, but plans changed.

Your gnocchi dish looks amazing! Actually, the two appetizers look really tasty too, especially the soup.

That is what has happened with us the past few trips. We ate there on our honeymoon 4 years ago, but it was a very rushed experience because we were in a hurry to make a movie time (surprise, surprise lol). We have been wanting to give it another chance and I am so glad we finally did. I hope you can make it there on a return trip.

The gnocchi was outrageously good! I wish I had room for the soup too because he gave me a taste and it was fantastic! There were a lot of other things I wanted to try on the menu too.

Hey Jeri,
I have to say your dinner looked delicious....glad to see your posting on this snow storm day we are having. I'll be following you! Alicia

After our late lunch/early dinner at Raglan Road we went to the movies and saw Gravity which was AWESOME! After the movie we walked over to the Marketplace and walked through the shops. I found this shirt, which I really wish I had bought.

:lmao: So cute!

We wanted a late night treat and I suggested to Rob that we try Earl of Sandwich because:
1. It is delicious
2. He has never had it and
3. It is cheap. Not even just Disney cheap, but legit cheap

Earl of Sandwich it is!

We were actually able to decide on two sandwiches that we both wanted to try, so that way we could split both sandwiches and try 2 different things. Smart. The line was pretty long, but it moved along quickly. We also used our AAA discount here, which was a nice extra savings.

Sandwiches in hand we decided to take the boat back to OKW assuming that might be faster since the DTD bus situation at night is not good. What I didn't realize is that the boat to OKW only leaves from West Side, so we ended up taking a boat back over to West Side and then waited for another boat to take us from West Side to OKW. This took a little while, but it was probably still better than the bus. Here is the view from the boat as we left DTD.

It was a beautiful night!

Then we arrived at the Hospitality House after only a few minutes. This area of OKW is so beautiful at night. Here is a picture as you pull into the dock, but it does it no justice.

We stopped at Hank's Rent-N-Return in the Community Hall and rented the PERFECT movie for the night. Then we went to wait for the internal shuttle at the bus stop since we were waaaay to far away from our building to hoof it. We waited FOREVER for the internal shuttle. When everything was said and done, it took us 2 hours to get from EoS to our room. Yikes!

Needless to say, our sandwiches were cold, but we settled in for the night with our yummies and our movie. It's Hocus Pocus time!

We started with the Caribbean Jerk Chicken. Grilled chicken, roasted red and banana peppers with a spicy jerk sauce

I picked off some of the banana peppers, but other than that it was really good! Loved the red peppers on it. Rob felt the same way about this one.

Next was the Chipotle Chicken Avocado. Grilled chicken, bacon, sharp cheddar, avocado, lettuce and chipotle sauce.

Loved this one! This was definitely our favorite of the two.

Watching Hocus Pocus and eating Earl of Sandwich while cuddled up in a big comfy bed. It doesn't get much better than that folks!

Up next, a whole day with no parks!

Hi Alicia! Are you guys getting a lot of snow today? It's not bad here today in my area. Last Sunday was AWFUL, but so far this system hasn't been too bad. Of course it started snowing as soon as we picked up our Christmas tree this afternoon. Rob is taking up the tv with video games so I will probably get a few more posts in tonight!

We decided to take this day as a break from the parks and just have a leisure day. I mean, really every day at Disney is a leisure day for us, but this was a true no crowds, no rides, total relaxation day. We started off our morning by sleeping in a little bit and then we caught a bus over to DTD. It was totally deserted first thing in the morning.

We headed straight to breakfast at our favorite spot.

The breakfast menu

We placed our order and grabbed a seat. I have this handsome devil to keep me company while we wait for our food.

It didn't take long for our food to come out and it looked amazing! Rob got the Breakfast Pocket. Scrambled eggs, ham, roasted peppers, red onions, mushrooms, and cheddar cheese.

He really liked this. He's a sucker for anything with red peppers. He loved the potatoes that came with it.

I had the Breakfast Pizza. Scrambled eggs, bacon, mozzarella, cheddar cheese and caramelized onions

I loved this pizza on previous trips and it used to come with a drizzle of ranch on it, which I would always omit. Now it comes with caramelized onions instead, which for me is a vast improvement. This made it even better! I wish I could get a breakfast pizza like this at home. The bacon is so crisp and the onions went perfectly with everything on the pizza and gave it a nice little kick of flavor. Their pizza crust is my favorite too. Yum, yum, yum! The only 'problem' is that this pizza is so huge that it is impossible to finish, especially this early in the day. I tried to get Rob to split it with me, but since he declined I now have a nice box of leftover pizza to enjoy during our next movie.

This was our best WPE experience of the trip!

We had a little time to kill before our movie, so we stopped for lots of pics on our way over to the West Side.

You wouldn't like us when we're hungry!

Wow - the EoS sandwiches look great. I would totally pick the second one with the avocado and everything. Mmmmmmm And what a fun and relaxing evening (not counting the 2 hours of transportation!).

The EoS breakfast menu looks tasty. The breakfast pocket that your DH got looks so yummy! But your pizza looks amazing!!!

EoS is so awesome! It took us way to long to check it out. I want to try so many more things on the menu.

The pizza was incredible! Highly recommend! :thumbsup2

After breakfast at WPE we headed over to the West Side to see Rob's movie pick. Machete Kills. It was as bad as you think it is. Probably worse. :lmao: But, on the plus side, I did get to enjoy my leftover breakfast pizza during the movie. Better yet, I got a picture with this awesome guy in the lobby!

I love Olaf! I'm going to see Frozen for a second time tomorrow. If you haven't seen it yet, GO NOW!!!! It's so cute!

After the movie we headed back over to the Marketplace for an afternoon treat.

Yup, Ghirardelli sundaes again!

For some reason, it finally occurred to me that I should ask if you can get different flavors of ice cream in your sundae other than the ones it lists with it on the menu. I find vanilla and chocolate too boring sometimes and that is what most of the sundaes come with. It turns out you can substitute with any of the other flavors. Mind blown. This changes everything.

Rob ordered the Hot Fudge Sundae. Two scoops of vanilla ice cream overflowing with freshly homemade hot fudge, whipped cream, chopped almonds, and a cherry. He substituted the vanilla ice cream for strawberry ice cream.

I ordered the Warm Brownie Sundae. Two scoops of Vanilla ice cream paired with a warm double chocolate brownie, smothered with freshly homemade hot fudge and topped with whipped cream, chopped almonds and a cherry. I subbed the vanilla ice cream for mint chocolate chip.

Holy smokes! Best decision ever! This is what I will be ordering from now on.

I love how the angle of the photo for the sundaes makes them look ginormous!!! That is what I want...a GINORMOUS mint chocolate brownie sundae!! YUM

GAH!! Frozen is just fantastic, isn’t it????

AAACKKK!!!

Your ice cream treats look amazing. Wish one of those was sitting in front of me right now!

We probably got five inches of snow on Sat 12/14...now today more snow. The boys had no school last Tuesday and no school today, Tuesday. And my boys go on Xbox whenever they can!

I could go for a ginormous mint sundae right now too! Every time I look at my Ghirardelli pictures I crave an ice cream sundae for the next few days.

I am obsessed with Frozen. I might go see it a third time next weekend.

Oh trust me, I wish I had one too! How is does Ghirardelli not have a whole chain of ice cream shops around the country? I would be a frequent customer, that's for sure!

Oh geez, that's too much snow! I'm over the snow already. And now this weekend has been downright warm here. Very wacky winter weather so far this year.

After our ice cream treats we made our way back to OKW and spent the rest of the afternoon at the pool and did some laundry in their laundry room, which was a total fiasco, but that's a story for another board.

We decided we were in the mood for Italian or Mexican, so I looked up dining reservations on my phone and nothing was available anywhere. Epcot was our ideal spot, but we couldn't get in anywhere! The plan then became, let's drive to Boardwalk and try and get at Flying Fish.

We arrived at Boardwalk and by the time we got there neither of us were feeling Flying Fish and why spend all that money for something you are feeling lukewarm about. We walked over to the International Gateway and decided that somewhere in Epcot would take a walkup, right? Wrong. We couldn't get into a single restaurant in WS. We tried every one. And it was so packed with people enjoying F&W, so I really didn't even feel like braving the crowds and long lines to partake in F&W for dinner. We did a full circle around WS, only to leave again and head back to Boardwalk.

We were still debating about where to eat and I suggested trying Beaches and Cream. We had never been there before and it sounded perfect, but we were a little hesitant. We had just done so much walking for nothing and now I was worried we would get there and find a 2 hour wait facing us. Rob didn't know anything about it and was hesitant to get "just burgers." All hesitations aside, we walked over to Beach Club.

After a few minutes of searching we found Beaches and Cream.

We were seated at the counter after waiting less than 5 minutes. The inside is so cute!

I love all the details. Here are the boarders around the restaurant.

This is the menu for the restaurant.

I love that they have the sodas here with the real syrup. Rob got a cherry Coke and I got a vanilla Coke. I really liked the old time soda dispensers they had for the syrup. So fun!

I ordered the Bacon Angus Beef Burger and substituted cheddar cheese for the blue cheese.

Yum! The fries were fresh and crisp and the burger was cooked perfectly. I loved it with the onion rings and BBQ sauce. Delish!

Rob had the Pot Roast Sandwich. Opened-faced on brioche bread on top of mashed potatoes and mushroom gravy.

This was one of his favorite meals of the trip! He is still talking about this sandwich!

The women working in there were all very friendly. It was fun sitting up at the counter. We were seated on the right hand side of the counter and we were right where the CMs would make ice cream for the to-go counter. We watched them hustling the whole time to serve the never ending line. Everyone in there was working hard, but still friendly and smiling the whole time. It was great to interact with them while we were there.

Rob was so pleasantly surprised by Beaches and Cream and for me, it was as good as I hoped it would be. The fact that you couldn't get a reservation has always kept me from going there before, but as it turns out, that actually works in our favor with being willing to sit at the counter. I am disappointed to hear that they changed the rules and are now taking reservations. That might hurt our chances of eating there on future trips. I hope they at least expand the restaurant, but I'm not counting on it.

We are now big Beaches and Cream fans! Stay tuned, because we may just eat here again this trip...

Wow - you had a heck of a time finding a place to eat! :scared1:

I am loving the pics of B&C. It’s so cute in there! I had intended that we might try it on our August trip, but with all the food we were constantly eating, it just didn’t happen.

Maybe it’s just because I’m really hungry while reading this, but that burger and those fries look so good! :goodvibes: Actually, the pot roast sandwich looks pretty darn good too!

Great review!

After reading your review, I suggested to my dad that he try the breakfast pizza at WPE since we decided to go there for breakfast instead of lunch - he loved it! He was hesitant to order it considering the price for a QS meal but the pizza was HUGE!

And Ghirardelli- well, is there ever anything that ISN'T good there? ;)

Hi there  Been lurking for awhile and love your food porn and the report so far. My fam and I have been trying to hit Beaches & Cream for the past 3 trips and have never hit it right (ALWAYS a 2-hour wait after some awful transportation issues each time :confused3 ) - with that being said, after seeing the pot roast sandwich and the burger, we are definitely going in 2015. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the wonderful reviews so far!!! popcorn::

I am just joining in...

Love your reviews! Looking forward to reading more!

Beaches and Cream looks fabulous! Maybe I should try it on our next trip.
