Dessert Parties

it looks like the Frozen DP is booking through October at this point and not at all October 7-14th (our week).

We did the Star Wars one recently. It's not worth it from the standpoint of the food & drinks alone obviously. However, if you take into account the fact that you would otherwise be camping out for an hour for a premium spot to view the show, spending the hour eating/drinking and then having VIP viewing sure was nice. Not sure I would do it again, but I'm glad we did it once.[/QUO

We are going to Disney in August. There are no dates available on the Illuminations Sparkling Dessert Party. As of today they have the dates out until May 31, 2017, can anybody tell how far in advance they release the dates?

The sparkling dessert party is being replaced with the frozen ever after dessert party mid July. We are gog in August and have made our reservations. Look for the new party and you will find dates for August

We did the plaza viewing of HEA in May and highly recommend it. It was worth it to guarantee a good and non crowded location and the kiddos enjoyed the desserts. We decided its the only way we want to see HEA if we ever have the opportunity to go back!

We did the Wishes plaza view party in December, and we were so glad we did. Since MVMCP takes up four nights a week, there are only three nights a week that the general admission people can get to see Wishes, and it is incredibly packed for fireworks viewing on those three nights. I knew my DH wouldn't be up for standing around for an hour or more to hold down a good spot and then being squashed in a huge crowd, so I sprung for the plaza view dessert party. From our perspective, it was totally worth it. Now, realistically, I'm not sure anyone one can eat $59 worth of desserts. But the selection was spectacular. All the desserts are bite-size portions, so you can have several and as much as you want. They have specialty drinks (non-alcoholic), an ice cream sundae station, and a fruit/cheese/cracker selection for anyone who doesn't want to overload on sweets. You can get in early enough to spend a leisurely amount of time sitting at your table, going back to the dessert buffet as often as you like. When you feel like going over to the reserved viewing area in the Hub, you'll be escorted by a CM. We didn't go over until about five minutes before the fireworks started, so our standing time was minimal. The viewing area wasn't crowded at all, and there was plenty of room to move around. There was room enough for some of the children there to be playing tag and doing cartwheels without bothering anyone. There is no seating, but you can sort of lean back and more or less rest your behind on the low railing in the back if you want. And you can usually maneuver a spot to sit on the turf where there isn't anyone standing in front of you. With the new castle projections being such an integral part of HEA, I can't imagine that the view of them is very good from Tomorrowland Terrace, which is quite a ways off to the side.

A dessert party is a very expensive way to see something that is free. They throw in a few desserts and beverages as a bonus, but no one would ever spend that much money for that food. The appeal is that you get a good viewing area and don't have to fight the crowds. A lot of people like them but I can get a wonderful meal at a signature restaurant for what one of these dessert parties cost. ;)

I'm not a dessert person.

ITA. I've said it here before and I'm saying it again, I wouldn't pay those ridiculous prices if I hit a Powerball jackpot.

And something else--I have been watching MK fireworks since it was Fantasy in the Sky. I have been watching Illuminations Reflections of Earth since it debuted in 1999.

I've seen these shows countless times over nearly 20 years, and we have never "camped out" waiting for them. We stroll around wherever we are and when we find an empty spot, that is where we watch. And we always have a decent view.

Thank you for the info. I checked it out and none of the dates work for us. Hope you have a great time:flower1:

I'm 6'7" and could show up 26 seconds before any of them starts and have a good view.

Good for you. In December, on non-MVMCP nights, there is no strolling around in or near the Hub or Main Street areas and finding an empty spot with a straight on view of the castle just before the fireworks. It's wall to wall humanity starting at least an hour before. It's a special treat we allow ourselves so that we don't have to fight those crowds at that time of year. Any other time, I'm with you - there's usually space to be had shortly before the show. But when the crowds are that unmanageable, it's an alternative that some people choose in order to spare themselves the crowds and get a good view.

I hope you're not one of those families that walks up at the last minute and squeezes into that 2x2 foot space right in front of us. Happens about 50% of the time and I can't say it's not annoying.

My family is pretty small. And we almost always go off-season.

 Don't get me started. You're not alone. We had some creepy old guy do that to us last December. :scared:

LOL must be nice! I am 5'1" and even if I camp out someone always blocks my view. We did FP for WOC in DCA, and being my first time I didn't realize I should have stood at the top of the stairs. Missed the whole thing. Being short sucks. I am glad there are these offerings so I can see the shows!!! I just wish they were meals instead of desserts. We are going to try to book ROL dining when we go, and maybe Fantasmic. Still up in the air about the fireworks parties.

If you mean the Fireworks Dessert Party on 12/11 then they haven't been released yet. I'm still waiting on late October.
really? But it shows the dates on the calender in blue you can click them? Its still not opened? October is clickable, I am praying that is right this is a 1 time trip with my daughter
