In communist parlance (not that putin is a communist, but that's where he comes from and where the entire country comes from) anyone you don't agree with is a fascist or a nazi.

Putin is likely too stubborn to give into pressure. It will probably be a matter of pride. He will succeed in financially damaging his own country but I bet that he doesn't care a bit.

It would likely be hard on them economically. I think they get more from Russia than Russia gets from them so it probably wouldn't matter much.

Russia is a 50% partner in an offshore oil well project I believe. It also probably wouldn't make much difference if Mexico did sanction Russia; I don't think they are major trading partners.

That said, I think sanctions of Russia will hit Cuba, Nicaragua, and especially Venezuela hard.

I am in Cuba right now and the mood is grim among Cubans. Not so much among the hordes of Russian vacationers at the resort. They seem to be keeping calm and carrying on...

It was preventable. It can be Stopped now but won’t be and (Every) Country Is complicit in the deaths happening. Some More than others It’s Horrific.

No one is going to get involved because Ukraine isn't a part of the EU or NATO. The best case is that private contractors get involved, which is basically retired military mercs.

Read that they are trying to expedite the process to get them into the EU.

I'm not familiar with the air routes from Russia to Cuba, but they may have some challenges getting home. Many countries are not allowing Russian-owned aircraft to enter their airspace, and many Western carriers have stopped flying into Russia.

Connect via Iran or Syria, maybe? idk.

If you're talking about the process to admit Ukraine into the EU, that is a very complicated and time-consuming process. Every country in the EU has to approve any entries, and some countries have very convoluted procedures for approval.

I don't foresee NATO/EU forces in Ukraine anytime soon. I think, it's likely that Ukraine will fall to Russia. The economic sanctions are really hurting Russians, but I don't think that's going to stop Russia from finishing off Ukraine.

I do think the best hope for Ukraine is mercs right now as it's the only way to get the training and weapons into Ukraine without the forces being a part of a EU country.

Disney has decided not to release new movies in Russia, but has anyone heard something about the cruise they still have planned? There is a Northern Europe cruise on August 10th that has a stop in St. Petersburg. Other cruiselines with more cruises there have already announced not to go St. Petersburg, but did Disney say anything? The cruise can still be booked online.

I have to think that Disney will cancel that port, at a minimum. But I haven’t seen anything official.

The news media is struggling to find news in a situation where there isn't much news, so it's really hard to tell which stories are accurate and which are not. So far, I have found BBC's coverage to be the most level-headed and apparently factual.
