What's your supply chain issue? How's this one for a start?

Speaking of milk, is it just me or does anyone else seem to have issue with it going bad several days before the expiration date on label?
It;'s not just you. I've been trying to buy quarts, because the half-gallon jug will be spoiled before I can finish it. Which is usually at least 3 days before expiration.
:sad2:

I found this story interesting today. 60% of those who left the workforce are over 55 and many have permanently retired.

So many have said the lack of employees was the youngsters. This says otherwise.

Three of my friends over 50 have retired in the last two years. They're sick of the rat race and figured this is as good a time as any to leave given the stock market performance over the last couple of years.

Purchased a large item at Disneyland yesterday, and they said the were out of large bags, which were "out on a ship offshore". We were happy to purchase a large re-usable bag for $2, but not everyone is going to be (happy).

All these years I have gotten by with a side by side refrigerator/freezer. With youngest son giving up his Detroit apt. (Pursuing his PhD at Wayne State U) and moving home, I invested in a medium chest freezer and purchased a Food Saver, vacuum sealer for food. Now I am buying in bulk and breaking it down and vacuum sealing what I can. Finally, my Sam’s Club membership is coming in handy.

TC :cool1:

So funny. That’s exactly what I did summer of 2020. After 42 years of marriage & raising 2 kids. Although with just 2 of us, I bought a small freezer. I actually bought the food saver first, then about 2 months later, bought the freezer. They’ve come in very handy, I love them both!

Back on topic, DH went to Target Optical today. While he was in Target, he browsed the frozen food section, said he couldn’t believe how empty it was. Didn’t mention any specific items missing. He never goes grocery shopping, usually just in & out for rolls or pastry. I’ve been telling him about the stores & how random stuff will be low. But he was still a little stunned to see it for himself.

Oh, it's a problem. I've been back in the office since October and have been looking for a some new things. I talk to the store workers every time I go shopping. The stores made a conscious decision to pull office attire off the shelves because no one was buying it but they said they are making the change to get it back into stores, but it's coming slowly. The best success I've had is the Ann Taylor Factory store which is near my house: many styles of dress pants, dressy "leggings", dresses, skirts, etc. They seem to be getting stuff in waves so I'll go in once and it will be full, people will buy it up, and then it's spare for a bit. Banana Republic Factory store has been much slower but it's starting. The regular Ann Taylor and Banana Republic seem to have more but I generally don't buy from them unless I've got a coupon or something because they can be pricey. I've had good luck ONLINE with Nordstrom Rack for dresses and shoes. I have to return a lot but it's really close to my house so not a problem.

Now if you shop at some place like Kohl's, they are pretty tragic. Nothing. I will usually buy one or two pieces a year from them--a jacket or a layering sweater but they've got nothing related to office attire.
I just want to add to what you said about Kohl’s. My son has a job interview tomorrow so I told him I’d stop into Kohl’s and pick up a new white dress shirt. Well the men’s department was completely done over and the many cases that held the shirts was completely gone. I asked a worker and all they had left was a few dress shirts on hangers. I also noticed the suits area was gone also. My son went to Macy’s last night and was successful.

I also looked in Kohl’s for something “holiday partyish” to wear to my dh’s work party next month and there was nothing. Normally this time of year there would be an area of “dressy” clothes. Nothing.

My Khol's had this the other day. Maybe not as many varieties as what would be normal but they had stuff.

It's been about 2 months and I forgot about this story. My son had to go to a wedding where he had to wear a suit and dress shirt--not really business style but a more stylish look. Business wear or not, we struggled to find anything. We ended up having luck at Zara for a "fancy" kind of suit (not one he'd wear to a job interview). That't the only place we found in the entire mall. The dress shirt was another matter. Besides a $450 one at Nordstrom, we couldn't find anything. Finally stumbled into a Johnston & Murphy store where they had some nice, patterened ones that would look good with his suit. Not cheap at all. But yeah, we also found some things at Macy's and plenty of it, it just didn't really match what he was looking for at the time. Very limited places to find stuff like that but I guess if most people are working from home, there's not much of a market for it.

Jeez, good to know about the dressy outfits. Have a wedding in NY’s Eve that I’m going to need a dress for. Guess I better get out & start looking.

I haven't noticed any long term shortages right now. It's been interesting reading through the posts to know what to watch.

Back from the store today, both Walmart Neighborhood Market and local chain store. Huge end cap displays of Thanksgiving supplies, stuffing, turkey gravy, chicken broth, cream of mushroom soup, fried onions, green beans, canned pumpkin, canned milk, bins and bins full of fresh and frozen turkeys in a variety of sizes, lots of unsalted butter, and cream cheese at both stores.
Only thing I did notice at Walmart was in the egg section, no medium or large eggs, just extra large 12 and 18 packs, but most of the egg area was filled with the 5 dozen boxes of eggs for $8. My wife is baking this week for we did buy an 18 pack of eggs for $2.75

We retired in July at age 64. Our plan was to retire at 62, but pushed it back to 63 then 64 due to what the "Affordable" Healthcare act has done to the price of un-subsidized private healthcare. By waiting we can use COBRA until we qualify for MEDICARE. Our Financial planner has graphs showing the spike in private un-subsidized healthcare since AHC went into effect. COBRA has stayed relatively the same. Now, don't get me wrong, there are some who benefited greatly from the AHC act, primarily those who had no healthcare option before and those who get subsidies. And here in California, a lot of individuals can get full top of the line coverage for $1 a month thanks to pandemic assistance.

Healthcare is ridiculous in America. It's the one cost that keeps a lot of the people I know from retiring. It's like minimum wage and unemployment insurance. If you keep both low enough, you keep workers working for less money. A travesty.

Right now, my friends would rather pay up for ACA plans than deal with their daily workload. That says a lot. I expect worker shortages to continue as the population ages out and older workers are too fed up to work.

My latest, and recurring, supply chain item is Gatorade. It's been in and out of stock at Publix for months, and it's always feast or famine. They have a ton, or none. Yesterday it was none.

That's been a thing since the beginning of the pandemic I believe. People hoarded it in case they got covid and needed fluids with electrolytes. I haven't seen any around here in awhile. Someone else mentioned Diet Coke too....that's hit or miss.

Have you considered some of the filtered milks? The Fairlife milk I bought today doesn't expire until February 23, 2022.
