Hi there,
THis is our first Disney cruise and I'm interested in the fish extender group. Is it too much for a newbie though? Could someone give me a simple run down of how it works and what I need to do? Thanks so much!

Hi dornink48 -

It's really fun and you can definitely do it on your first cruise. It's sort of like a Secret Santa concept - just have fun with it and don't overthink it. Basically, you sign here (via tidefan) and then we make groups (seems like groups will be about 10 or so cabins). You can be in multiple groups if you'd like. From there, you bring along small gifts for the people in the other cabins in your group (you'll get a list of cabin numbers and ages). Then, you leave small surprises in their Fish Extender at some point during the cruise.

You can do one day, a few days, or all 7 days - whatever you want. You can do one gift for the cabin, small gifts for just the kids (or just the grown-ups). It's really anything goes. There are million ideas out there online/Pinterest of what people do, but some fun ideas are something local from your city/state, magnets, treats, personalized items, crafts...anything goes. Keep in mind, you will need to pack these items if you're flying in.

I hope this helps - I'm certainly no expert, but that's a brief summary of the Fish Extender gift exchange. Best advice - start early and don't stress. It's just something fun to do leading up to/during the cruise!

Hey all - does anyone want to do an "83-day Fitness Challenge" leading up to the cruise? Thinking we can start on January 1st and keep going through March 24th. We can focus on exercise, eating right, and drinking water. Let me know if you're interested and I can find an app or something that we can all do together. I definitely want to get in better shape before March 25th - right now, I'm about a 2 out of 10 on the fitness scale. LOL. I'd at least like to maybe get to a 5. Haha.

Hey guys! I have updated the spreadsheet (and the main list on Page 1). Please go out and check to make sure your information is correct:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1DstlQKsGSb1QZnOBSmZZF0-GF652ok2uHkm9U43d0N4/edit?usp=sharing

oOElBieOo and allikok, Welcome! I have added you guys to the list.

BlondeAlligator and SeanLeahy - Still missing some information.

I have added a field to identify what State you are from, if you want to share that information. I think that you may be able to add to the sheet on your own, but if not, just let me know and I can update if you want to put that out there.

We are now up to 16 cabins (well, 17 if you count lkpiehl's as 2 separate ones). I think that at 20 that we will split into 2 groups, or we can leave in just one if you guys prefer. Also, I am thinking that we will close the FE list out on February 24th at Midnight EST (though we can add a latecomers list after that date - basically a supplemental FE for late signups, though we can add anyone that would want to join or perhaps be in 2 groups).

Lastly, when the cruise gets closer, I will organize the list by location, sorting by: 1) Deck Number, 2) Starboard or Port, 3) Forward, Mid, or Aft. I think that will help everyone with the organization to distribute to the cabins.

If there are any other suggestions, let me know. This is an open group and suggestions are encouraged and welcomed!

One thing I may want to ask veteran DIS'ers: Do we still identify ourselves by the LGMH's and do they still have those at Home Depot?

(NOTE: For those wondering, LGMH stands for "Lime Green Mickey Heads". DIS has been around for quite awhile and one thing members have traditionally done in the past is to get the Lime Green Mickey Head paint color sample card square from Home Depot and display it somehow. LGMH became sort of the de facto ID for DISboard members...)

Hope everyone had a Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year!

Oh, and ROLL TIDE ROLL!!! (Couldn't help myself...)

tidefan...

Howdy neighbor! We will be 3 doors down...

Also, does everyone know about the Castaway Cay 5k? It is a "free"* 5k that Disney does on Castaway Cay first thing in the morning. It's a lot of fun if you haven't done it before.

* - The run is free, and you will receive a "Mickey Medal" if you finish, however, T-shirts will be available for purchase...

This sounds fun! Do you have to sign up in advance? Is it every morning or just specific ones?

Yes, you can sign up at Guest Services. I don't think there's a limit to how many can run. It is only the morning we dock at Castaway Cay. The runners are one of the first off of the ship...

Oh duh, I totally wasn't thinking about only being there one morning! Thanks for the info, my 7yo loves to do 5ks so that's something I'll look into!

This brings me to another (possibly stupid) question for anyone...do people bring strollers with them on the ship for their little ones? I know we'll have limited space and my toddler only tolerates the stroller a small portion of the time so I've been contemplating leaving it at home. But then I'd for sure want it for a 5k, and possibly other excusions. Anyone have any input?

What is the age for the 5k?

Also, we are from Oregon if you'd like to add that to the FE spreadsheet!

Are we there yet?!? This will be our third Disney cruise (and we thought we were one and done...how stupid was I ). We're a family of four, DH, Me, DD10 (turning 11 on the cruise :bday:), and DD8.

Can't wait until March 25th!

Yeah thanks for adding us!!!

Wanted to add: Mom is Allison, Dad is Shane and Declan has Peanut/Treenut and Chocolate allergy. Nolan has chocolate allergy.

How much are the gifts? And do we buy for everyone in the group??

Hi all -

68 days and counting!! We finally purchased our plane tickets! And have been thinking about Pirate and Star Wars costumes! How is everyone's planning going?

@tidefan - I wasn't able to add to the spreadsheet. Can you please add that we're from Colorado? Thank you!

@DanicaJa - it looks like we're neighbors! :)
@Traci454 - and you're right down the hall!

I definitely want to do a Mixology class. Does anyone know if we can set up a private one? I thought someone mentioned it here.

Look forward to meeting everyone!

- Kristi

Hello everybody!
Just checking in about splitting the FE into 2 groups ... will we do that in February? I am starting to buy gifts, and am going with 10-12 families and trying to stick to a budget and buy some things a bit early so I'm not freaking out pre-cruise!
Thanks!

I was thinking that we would split if we got to say 20 cabins. What do you guys think?
