WDW Commando Club 2 - Magic Bands & FP+ Oh My

Ladybug1112 and I must have been at Hollywood Studios the same day last week. We actually made it into the park first thing, after waiting in line in the rain to enter the park. It was a moderate rain compared to what would happen later though.

There were 5 of us in our family and we picked up 3 friends who were also at WDW the same time as us. We picked them up from AofA resort and headed to HS with one goal: ride RnRC because they hadn't had a chance to ride it yet. We arrived and waiting in line until the gates opened.

After getting through the line to enter the park, we headed directly to RnRC. The line for the ride...was backed up to Sunset Blvd. So you lined up on Sunset Blvd, right at the corner facing the ToT, and then headed down into the ride area. It moved pretty quickly. We were anxious to get to the part of the queue where it was under cover. Little did we know what was coming...

Ride was great and when we emerged...TOTAL DOWNPOUR! We had thoughts of doing a few more things in the park...then we walked out and our feet plunged into tons of water. We quickly ran to the eating areas along Sunset Blvd and tried to huddle under an awning while others of our party hit the bathrooms.

Then all of our phones sounded alerts about a Tornado Warning. Time to break for a real building, we hit the first shop we could find along Sunset Blvd to wait it out.

After a few minutes there, everybody was just determined to head back and dry off. We walked back out of the park...and that's when we came to this:

So if this isn't Commando Style touring, I don't know what would qualify us! We all had ponchos or raincoats, but the main street was just several inches of water. We just sloshed our way through it, our feet totally immersed in water. It was crazy.

We would return to the park later that afternoon to much better street conditions. We heard rumors that TSM had closed due to flooding, but not sure how true those were as it was open later that day as well.

Crazy!

:scared1: I've seen some huge puddles after it poured in the parks, but that is crazy:eek: How long did it rain for:confused3

Wow, that's some flooding alright! Way to tough it out.

Now I have a request from my fellow commandos: I need you to send prayers, good thoughts, etc my way... We are supposed to be leaving tomorrow to arrive at WDW on Saturday. Last night, I threw out my back while dealing with my almost 3 year old DD throwing a temper tantrum at the mall. It was an embarrassing scene to say the least with her screaming and flailing around and me not able to stand up.

Anyway, woke up this morning and I'm still in a lot of pain. My DH wants to forget about the trip because 21+ hours in the car probably won't be easy for me and he's worried I won't be able to go on many rides, if any.

We've been looking forward to this trip for so long and I don't want to be the reason my family misses out. So I am really hoping and praying that it will get better today and I can be sort of be back to normal tomorrow...? I know there are plenty of worse things than missing a trip, but 2014 has been such a bad year for us and this trip means a lot to me and DH.

Definitely thinking of you. I am so sorry your back hurts. Can you make an appointment to see a dr. before you leave? If not, I take some motrin as directed on the bottle to see if that helps. My dd threw up like 5 minutes we were to walk out the door for our drive to disney and I was devastated….Poor kid. She's puking and Im like WTH are you doing? On the way down I was totally trying to get info out of her, "do you think it was something you ate? Does it feel like the last time you had a tummy bug?" 50 questions. She puked again on the way down.Once we got to the room we rested and watched some movies. She didn't eat at all that night. Next morning, she woke hungry and we went to tour the resort. She did fine. Next day, we hit the parks WONDERFULLY.

I know we can't compare the two. I am really do hope you feel better. I know how much we needed our summer trip, it was a rough last few years prior for us as well. And we NEEDED our trip. HUGS. Friend.:wizard:

Thanks, I appreciate it! I'm glad your DD was feeling better after a day of rest. I am going to call my chiropractor this morning and see if he can slot me in for an emergency appointment tonight or tomorrow morning.

Fellow Commanders, I am happy to report we are going Christmas 2015. So excited.

Congratulations:banana::cool1::yay::cool2:

Hope you feel better:good vibes

My back has been shot for awhile, a trick that helps a bit in the car is a log shaped pillow or even a double roll of paper towels placed on the seat behind your lower back, somehow it relieves pressure foe awhile:confused3

I'm praying that your back will improve & all will go smoothly on your well-deserved trip! My dad actually hurt his arm at work the week before our trip. It was soo cute when we met doc mcstuffins at H&V ... She was kissing his bandage & listening to it with her stethoscope lol... Anyway he did sit out a few of the wilder rides, but still had fun !!

Okay, good vibes coming your way. I don't think you should cancel but that depends. I know you have a very short time to deal with this but do you see a chiropractor? I know I wasn't keen at it for a long time but found it to be a godsend once. You could do an emergency appointment and they can tell you just exactly "how" your back is out. They may be able to help.

Also, I know DBF needs more rest and certain positioning on the rare occasion his back decides to be, well, uncooperative. Is there a way to modify your positioning on your long drive?

When you arrive, are there things you can do to still experience Magic? You know, like rent an ECV, sit in a spa, have a massage, modify your Commando schedule to include more rests and pool time?

I overestimated my own physical abilities on my recent trip. By day Five, I was plagued by non-stop sciatic pain due to a "bad" ankle and a back problem I keep in check with frequent chiropractic adjustments. The walking is what did me in.

If you cannot figure out how to manage, then reschedule, don't cancel. Your plan can be forwarded (so to speak) to a similar time frame. You will be taxed with the task of trying to recreate you "Best Laid Plans" and it will be a challenge.

I feel so bad for you. But I get it. Commandos are the worst patients.

Great plan! The food at pinnochio looked so good, but I was too full from lunch at BOG ...
When we were at AK last week EE was broken down... We were told to come back later & they would honor our FP ... When we got back the FP line was so long, but it moved really quickly . My DD wanted to ride with her aunt so I ended up sitting with a teenage boy who was on his 5th time riding that day using the single rider line... It was my 1st time because DD was too short last trip. He was pointing out different things to me throughout the ride ... Like being able to see TOT at the top of the one hill... Awesome ride, hope you get to go twice!! We loved RNR too!! My DD was just tall enough to ride that one!!

I appreciate the tips and thoughts. I went to my chiropractor last night and I feel a little bit better today. Hopefully the trend continues. I will try the paper towels behind my back in the car and hope that I can find somewhere to lie down and stretch at some rest stops!

So has anyone done MVMCP this year yet, I have a few questions:confused3

- What Characters were at the dance parties
- Did Characters have special guests with them (Aladdin, Jack Sparrow, Mary Poppins, etc)

Epcot WS Storytellers
- any of them just movies:confused3

Anything extra to see at DTD

I Still have some time to tweak plans:thumbsup2

We are here! The ride wasn't great for my back, but being in the driver seat helped, so DH let me take a lot of turns at the wheel. I take some Motrin in the mornings and I'm good to go!

When are you arriving?
