2015 Rate Watch

Hello My Friend.. just stepped in to say hi. How are you and your family doing? We just got back from DLR.
I saw your TR but haven't had a chance to read - we are awaiting our delayed flight home right now! I can't wait to check it out as we are planning a DLR trip in 2017!! :)

You can book a room only for 2015 but the pricing hasn't been released - it will adjust when they do. You won't be locking into the 2014 pricing. The only reason to book a package is if you want the Dining Plan. How many days total will you be there? If you pick up your tickets before the cruise and use them for the first 4 nights, I believe as long as it is within 14 days of the first use, you will be able to use them after the cruise.

We would definitely do days before the cruise in the park - so if we wanted to do 7 park days between the two stays would we just have the tickets as a part of the first package?

I don't think you can get 2014 rates if you are going in 2015.

As far as packages go, we like to get the package that includes the Dining Plan, we have found it convenient. Ticket packages, depending on what you want, can vary. We like to get the full blown multi-day with park hopper and water park & more. If we can find a better deal through our TA or elsewhere we would probably just stick with the Package with Dining Plan and get the tickets where they are the cheapest.

We are hoping to be there during a free dining promo next fall, so we would need a package in order to get that.

I looked at the 20% room only for POR for the time frame well be there next year and told my DH that its over a 600$ savings to do room only, add in UT tickets for our stay and add in a memory maker versus a package.
Well he turned around and said holy u know what and im like well a deluxe is 30% off so he asked me to look into wilderness lodge which was the deluxe one i wanted. It would have been a very significant savings our issue is if 30% off isnt offered for the same time next year we screw ourselves financially with a higher priced resort or we downgrade back to POR and our desire takes a hit. So we decided to be practical... Grrr practical!! And stick with POR...

Safe Travels..... Look forward to hearing from you. :goodvibes

This is probably a silly question but, is there any REASON to get a package? It sounds like if we did room only we could possibly snag 2014 rates, then if I bought tickets via Underground Tourist we could nab those at a slight discount anyway, right? We can add those to the reservation with their numbers and we'd be set... am I missing something? :confused3

Your RO ressie will reflect current rates and will go up when the new rates come out. Just the way it works...

I think it's a 6/7am thing... 6 online.. 7 on the phones.. Eastern standard time

So, I had booked a room only reservation so that I could book ADRs in January. Could I just book another trip for the same dates when the packages come out on Wednesday online at 6am then cancel the RO only reservation later that day? Just don't want to be stuck on the phone all morning. Wondering if the Disney system will let me do that.

I believe that might be possible but I'm not 100% sure and wouldn't want to lead you astray! I believe as I said it's possible. You'll have to put down a new deposit and when they cancel it,they will refund it back to you.

I was all set to reserve rooms for our family trip to Disney in July 2015. The telephone rep told me that if I booked last week, when the 2015 packages roll out on July 30th, I would just have to cancel and re-book if I wanted the Disney dining plan in addition to my resort rooms. The rep said this wouldn't be a problem but it would save time to just wait. I am wondering if I should go ahead and reserve so that I can get the lower rates in case there is a price increase in the room rates or the park tickets???

They won't be able to transfer the deposit. You'll have to front the $ and they'll refund you the first deposit.

Southwest was supposed to come out with flights for the rest of the 1st half of next year and still nothing! Ugh!

You will still pay 2015 rates for the room if you book now or wait for them to come out on the 30th, they will adjust them.

You will still pay the 2015 rates. The cost will change when the package prices are announced. Booking now does not "lock-in" 2014 rates.

I couldn't believe it when Southwest decided to change their date. Was so looking forward to booking our air today but now I'll have to wait until the 4th...ugh!

Yeah, Southwest pushed the date back a week or so ago. When we first looked it was a release date of the 21st. They push it back until they sell a certain percentage of the previous block of dates they have open.
I'm hoping since it supposed to be next week now that it won't get pushed back again.

You can check easily under "view all travel tools" to see when they predict releasing. I've been checking like every day! haha

We are hoping to be there during a free dining promo next fall, so we would need a package in order to get that.

There is another thread about Free Dining (don't think the 2015 one has opened yet) but the Free Dining experts suggest waiting to book your package as the Free Dining discount is offered in order to fill rooms. The thinking is if you wait to book the likely hood your resort of choice will be available during Free Dining is better. I know you didn't ask, but it was something I didn't know until last year! :D
