Decorations and friends, what could be better. Time to plan..11/27 Final plans& recap

Joining in! I liked Bubba Gumps when we ate there in January. I also like Emeril's Tchoup Tchoup.

I'm glad you got all your accomodations worked out.

Following along....popcorn:: So exciting that you are going at Christmas! :cool1: I really want to see the parks decorated for the Holidays.. Maybe one day. We drove to Disney for our last trip. Oklahoma to Florida is maybe 18 hrs. I would have to ask the husband. He does all the driving. I corral the kids and try to keep him entertained with scintillating conversation ; ) Driving is not so bad. How you made your ADR's yet? I really like the themeing of the common areas of AoA. Though I'm not a fan of the Little Mermaid rooms that much :confused3(from pictures).
Welcome here too. :lmao:
I am looking forward to the driving part. Kind of.
I have them put down on paper but I cannot make adr's till 6/5. I am going to post them tomorrow or Saturday before I go away.
I am hoping we will like Little Mermaid rooms.

:rotfl2: SSR is not going to change. We rented points to keep some of our own for next year so it will stay where it is.
AofA I want to try so I think that will remain. :confused3

I know the feeling :rotfl:we are taking my sister and her kids this August and then Emily decided to go but we don't have any points left :headache: so we booked her a room at ASMovies because she always wanted to stay there. Next year I think we are going to do the Disney Cruise and probably stay at AOA to save our points for the following year.
:lmao: I said to Vinny tonight "let's use our points for 2 nights at Grand Floridian Villas instead of AofA." He said no he wants to save them.

Hey Scott I will be there Dec. 3rd thru 10th!!!
Oh I hope we run inot each other. Love to say hi and get a pic.

The dining part of Universal is just playing it by ear as to where we want to eat.
Me too but I really want to add The Grand Floridian Villas on for 2 nights and am trying to see how I can.

Happy Belated Anniversary. I'm in and now going back to catch up. I need to figure out how to subscribe.

I need your thoughts?

Art of Animation Little Mermaid room

or

CBR

Which would you choose and why?

I'm catching up in order so you may have decided this already.....

I've only stayed at AoA of the two and that was in a Nemo suite. The food court was good and the grounds are so fun but the amenities at a mod are better and I'm all about amenities. AoA is newer though and I like new.

Basically I'm no help. :lmao:

Thank you. I do not think I subscribe to any. I do bookmark them into my favorites on firefox or IE. It is the only way I will remember where I am.

:rotfl2: I want to try it for the newness. I do like the food court and hopefully we will like the room.

Landscape of Flavors is awesome. We don't stay at AoA, but we've made the trip over for lunch twice and plan on doing the same again in November.

It's just such a good variety for counter service and there are some great healthier options!

Scott I have a ptr going on my Grannie trip, we haven't made ressies yet and I am not sure where I am staying yet either:rotfl2:but I have my flight booked:goodvibes:cool1:

We love that place. Only complaint is the food gets cold quickly.
I love the surf and surf burger.

I will bookmark it and check it out when I return.

It is now 11 days till I can make reservations for dining. I have a list going and hope to get them all. There is really only one that I really want.

The lucky winners are ----

Be Our Guest (Lunch & Dinner). We can wait for the lunch so no problem there but I hope I can get a dinner adr.

Teppan Edo - We loved it last time and hopefully so will Renee.

Sanaa - Always love this place and Renee asked if we can go there and so it is a must.

Turf Club - Located at SSR it is a quiet little gem among restaurants. We will be staying here so it is for us to get to. Though we have gone while at other resorts.

California Grill - I really have to see the new menu for this place. I am hoping it will be just as good as it was.

Yak & Yeti - lunch here for the kobe burger. YUM!

Olivia's at Old Key West. This place is very quiet and so good. I will be having the shrimp and grits again.

Tusker House - breakfast with Donald. I love the breakfast here (Vinny does not) but I think it will be fun.

Chef Mickey - breakfast again. Basically because I will have the photopass+. We might try dinner. Thoughts between the 2 meals? Which is better?

Paradiso 37 - This will be for lunch on one of our rest days. I love going here and sitting outside (weather permitting) and having sangria and apps.

Grand Floridian Cafe - we first went here last year with Vinny's Granddaughter and it was good so we will be going back.

Chefs de France - We love this place and I can get my escargot. YUM!.

Mama Melrose or 50's PTC - Not sure which one we will do. We had a bad experience at MM a few years back but lately I have been hearing good things about it. Time will tell.

Tony's at MK - I think we might eat here the night of the party early so I can go and party and Vinny and Renee can go off to the resort or another park.

Those are my choices. Now of course I am sure I will changing some. it just wouldn't be planning for me if I didn't change anything. Like I said the only one I really want to get is Be Our Guest for dinner.

Thoughts on Chef Mickey's breakfast vs dinner?

Also I will be going to Aruba tomorrow for a week then when I return 3 days later I can make my adr's so I will see you all during that week. I hope you all do the BOG dinner dance for me. :rotfl2:

Hope you all have a good week and if you are friends with me on FB look for pics while I am there.

Scott, I love most of your ADR picks. We prefer breakfast at Chef Mickey's; our last dinner, back in 2004, was absolutely awful.

We are NOT fans of 50's Prime Time; we've always had good meals at Mama Melrose.

We LOVE Olivia's; since we usually stay at OKW now we try to eat there once or twice a trip (we're having breakfast there in August).

I've never heard much about Surf & Turf at SSR...do tell us more about this one.

Kathy I didn't know you would be there either !!! :goodvibesOh Boy , you and Scott 1:cool1: Oh Mr Mark and I can do some "Hatting "!!!!:cool1::cool1::cool1:

We'll be there the 6th and then again the 14th and 15th. We're going out on the Fantasy on the 7th.

Good week for DISrs. :cool1:

This is smelling like a LARGE Dis Meet , We have to figure a date and do it !!!!!

We'd LOVE to do a meet. We'll be getting in around 1 on the 6th and staying at Bay Lake. We are planning on doing the Christmas party that night.

Let me know what you all decide to do. If there's any way we can make it, we'll be there!

Had lunch here and it was very good. Only planning lunch again here.

I am planning on this one too. Loved it there with Kristel 2 years ago.

Turf Club - Located at SSR it is a quiet little gem among restaurants. We will be staying here so it is for us to get to. Though we have gone while at other resorts.
I'm hoping you can do walk up here. I want to keep something open the day we arrive. May eat at Universal or may go to DTD. If we are too tired this was another option.

California Grill - I really have to see the new menu for this place. I am hoping it will be just as good as it was.
I had the best time here in October when we all went. I want to try and get in here again just to show it to Jim.

Tusker House - breakfast with Donald. I love the breakfast here (Vinny does not) but I think it will be fun.
This is on my list at the moment too. Want to switch up from CP.

Chefs de France - We love this place and I can get my escargot. YUM!.
You can have this one. Snails. EWWWW!!!!! :lmao:

Mama Melrose or 50's PTC - Not sure which one we will do. We had a bad experience at MM a few years back but lately I have been hearing good things about it. Time will tell.
We've talked about here but may skip it since we are doing lunch with the Imagineer.

Thoughts on Chef Mickey's breakfast vs dinner?
Only did dinner here. It was OK. I'd do it again if I had time.

No wonder we are friends we think alike. Except for the snails. What are you planning the day of the party? I'm still debating that one but may just do a CS. Love Pecos Bill for the toppings bar.

We love Olivia's! I feel like it's such a hidden gem and the breakfast is amazing... we haven't had lunch or dinner there yet, but the good thing seems to be that you can usually get a walk up reservation, so we can just pop in when we feel like it.

I remember you guys enjoying Turf Club in your previous TR, I think that's something we are going to have to explore either this trip or next.

I ate breakfast at Olivias and was VERY impressed with the service and the food . We had a group of Dev. Disabled with us and a couple had some major food allergies !! They made special pancakes , prepared the pork chop and potatoes so it was within their diet !! The chef came out several times to check everythinf was okay !!I really want to try another meal there !!!
