I'm sorry it has been so long since these questions were asked but I just got home from a 1 week vacation in MI and am catching up with reading this thread.

Thanks for the info, does it have a default smaller photo option or do you just guess?

I use a free site: resize2mail.com to make smaller copies of my photos. Then I put the resized photos on my photobucket account and use the link to post on the boards.

WOW! I can't believe I read the whole thing! Just finished reading this entire thread and now, if it is at all possible, I am even more excited than ever for our trip!!! We (DH, 3 DD's, and my mom) are booked in two rooms at POR 4/20-4/27. It will be our first Disney trip as a family (with DH), our first time to POR, my DH's and my mom's first time to Disney and my DH's birthday. He is visually impaired (RP which has caused tunnel vision, depth perception problems and low light trouble) and I am wondering if it would be helpful for me to request a corner room. Just wondering if we had 2 windows, maybe we would get better light in the room and he might have an easier time. He is already pretty worried about getting around the parks and will be taking his white cane. Hoping that will make others aware that he is impaired and maybe we can avoid nasty looks and comments from people if he bumps into someone or whatever. Anyway, any input on having a 2nd window and if that would be an ok request?

Thank you for this thread, it is awesome! :cheer2:

A few years ago I copied the following from allears.net I believe: Info re disabilities including low vision: Your first stop on your first day in the parks should be Guest Relations. When you are there the most important thing to do is to make sure you get an official WDW document called the Guest Assistance Card. It is approximately 3x5 in size and is good for your entire visit to Walt Disney World. The card outlines any assistance you may need while visiting the park, but more importantly, identifies that you in fact have some special needs that require attention. The card is not mentioned on Disney's website designed for people with disabilities. I believe the card was originally intended for guests who could not use the regular queue lines (such as people in wheelchairs), and outlined the special assistance they may need. Speaking from experience, a visual impairment is a mobility concern that requires just as much special attention from Cast Members as someone in a wheelchair, so make sure you get this card!

Hope that helps!

Thank you for your response. I will have to look into that card.

We are planning our first stay at POR in May. We will be booking a king room. I was wondering if anyone had pictures of the view/location/area of the room!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE this resort!

It's so pretty and Acadian House reminds me of a place in Palm Beach that we used to stay at when I was a kid.

I was at POR about a month ago with my best friend. We did a get away from the kids (hers) and significant others (mine and hers LOL!!) and pretty much spent three days hanging out by the pool/bar area.

We did not do the parks just, DTD and the resort. It was one of the best times I've had mini-vacation-wise.

We're going up for October and I am slightly heart-broken that we won't be staying at POR. :(

Just used the room only discount to book a royal room. I can't wait, this is the room I originally wanted for our first three nights. :cool1::cool1:

I'm thinking of booking at POR for the first time and wonder if anyone can tell me how likely it is that I will receive an Alligator Bayou room if I request it. I'm super interested in AB and the surrounding grounds and would be disappointed to end up in the mansions. I'm traveling solo so am concerned about being a lower priority than families who need the extra bed. Thanks!

If you're willing to pay extra for a preferred room, you can guarentee yourself a AB room. Preferred rooms are $25 more per night than a standard view room, and they are all in the AB section of the resort.

Just pulled in to POR after a 16.5 hour drive from NJ. :)

Funny we pulled up to the security guard and he asked if we had stayed here before. We said well not really. Because we have stayed at POFQ. He said Oh no you didn't stay over there did ya? Over here we call that the projects! Lol!

Anyway going to check in and then go check out Bob. :)
Seriously, this made me laugh out loud. ;)

Yes, there's a daily campfire on Ol' Man Island, and you can bring anything you want to toast from home (except perhaps annoying little sisters :) ) or they give out free marshmallows there.

Andre

I'm so excited about this. And free marshmallows?!?! Wow. Thanks.

We like building 16. I think it's just a tad closer but not a lot. It's a closer walk to the buses for sure. :)
I like Building 16 as well!! That's the one I will request when I send my fax in. I have back issues and my hubby is disabled, so a room right off the parking lot would be perfect.

I am almost positive if you request AB you will get it. In my opinion, there are more AB rooms than mansions, so that's why my theory is based on. Although, like the PP said, if you go preferred, you will be guaranteed an AB room (however, I'm cheap and won't pay the extra $25 per night. lol).

Hey Andre, I think I few pages back you said you were going to see YeeHa Bob on Wednesday Aug. 22. Where you there? If so, what show? I was at the 8:30.

We arrive at POR tonight and I have requested AB16 - can't wait - I'm doing my last minute packing! How's the weather now - are the rains clearing out or do we have another few days of that ahead of us? I have packed the ponchos, but they are just the flimsy ones. Oh well, if it rains we carry on! This trip has been quite the ordeal to get to - my son broke his ankle early in August and is in cast until mid Sept. We felt he'd be miserable not being able to swim and in the sweltering heat, so DH is staying home with him and I'm taking DD and her BFF who has never been to Disney - they are both turning 16 within weeks of this trip so it will be fun for them, but I'll miss my boys back home. The good news is that we're planning a family "make-up" trip for Feb when DS is as good as new!

Congrats.... Florida has been spared! Looks like it will be hitting land in New Orleans Louisiana. So I believe it is past us now. But Anything is possible weather wise. I believe you will be fine. Wont have to pack the hurricane kits, lol.
