Hubby and I will be there Dec 10-17th. No kids :cheer2: Ok, let me preface that by saying that our kids are all in college or old enough to not be vacationing with their parents ;)

We will be celebrating our first anniversary, technically our anniversary was Aug 6th, but we couldn't pass going in early December!

I would call back, explain a mistake was made, and if that CM cannot help you, ask for a manager. You will not be able to talk to the resort directly till you get there, and, honestly, I wouldn't rely on that.
Their mistake...they fix it.
Did you get discounted the difference, or are you paying the higher price for standard?

Thanks for your reply. I called back and after dealing with 4 different people, was able to secure our original preferred room at POR. They offered us a cabin at FW and said they had no availability for 5 anywhere else. I declined and I'm not so sure that I believe that line. :lmao:

Finally, Guest Services was able to give us a room that they had access to secure but the regular phone agent did not. Now, I'm still a little nervous, as I did online check-in with the messed up booking, so we'll see what happens at arrival.

Also, to answer your question, no, no one offered at any time to refund our preferred rate. I was told to show up and "maybe they could get us close to a preferred room." When I said that was unacceptable, I was told the actual hotel staff would have to deal with it. I'm sure they'd be thrilled at POR to hear that buck passed. :rotfl:

After your have uploaded your pictures to photobucket click on the picture (it may be a double click), then EDIT. After you click EDIT, a menu pops up underneath your photo. You want to click the first choice, ADJUSTMENT. After you click ADJUSTMENT more options appear....RESIZE is on the bottom row, second from the left (next to the Crop option). You can decrease the width and height of your picture from there. Then Save it. There may be an easier way to do it, but that's how I do it. :confused3

Thanks for the info, does it have a default smaller photo option or do you just guess?

Thanks Sue. Yeah, we've brought a bottle (plastic) with us the last two years with no problems :thumbsup2 , but it does weigh a lot more than clothes, and I hate being right at that potential "overweight" luggage point. I suppose if it hasn't been a problem the last two years, it should be fine this year too. :) As our kids get older, their clothes are getting bigger and harder to fit in a couple of checked bags... Oh the struggles of packing for Disney. ;) ;)

Hopefully the laundry areas at POR aren't always crowded. Anyone comment on the laundry washer and dryer availability? It's nice to bring less clothes and wash some part way through the stay.

Dan

You could always buy some of the tiny bottles at a liquor store and pack those! They're cheap and easy to pack! Even those small wine bottles can last a little while!

Silly question, but any help would be greatly appreciated....

So I like to have a LOW CARB MONSTER drink each morning in the parks at Disney (rather than my typical coffee since it's so hot in Sept when we go). We bring drinks in with us to the parks in a soft sided cooler. Does anyone know if Fulton's General Store has Low Carb Monster drinks? I don't want the calories of the regular Monster drink, so I far prefer the low carb option, and I use my snack credits to get them. POP has had them the last two years in their food court, but it's nearly impossible to find the low card Mosters in the parks, only the full carb option.

Thanks in advance!!! We're putting in our Garden Grocer order and I need to know if I have to add some low carb Monster drinks to the order. I'd prefer not to order them if I don't have to and just use snack credits at the general store.

Dan

just fyi it's not always the calories that make you fatter/are bad for you. It's all the crud in it.

I had read somewhere that there is a camp fire somewhere at POR and you can roast marshmallows. I knew you could do this at FW campground but had never heard of it at POR because this will be our first time staying at this resort! To all of the experts out there- if you could let me know if this is true or not I would great appreciate it. And if so- are you allowed to bring marshmallows from home or do you have to buy them there? Thanks in advance and can't wait until our first week after thanksgiving POR trip!

My teenage son is a Monster fanatic so I know the answer to this question!:) Well sort of....the blue can or low carb are available in the refrigerator in the food court. Whenever we ate at the POR food court, my son collected Monsters and drank from his mug for his meal. It is a choice for your drink with a meal. He even talked his sister into getting them for him. He knew we wouldn't buy them for him because they're expensive. He always managed to have a stash. ;)The part I don't know is if they have them in Fultons. Hope this helps!

Oh, I agree and am aware of that. Monsters are a treat for me that are reserved for two occasions throughout the year. 1) While at WDW 2) When we go camping.

I do pay attention to what I eat and I work out and run daily. I don't like to overdo the "extra crud" either, but hey it's vacation and it's my chance to let loose a little. :)

Perfect!!! Thank you! Yes, the blue cans. It doesn't matter to me if they are at Fulton's or the food court. I didn't even think to ask about the food court for some reason even though I got them at the food court the last two years at POP, so that works just as well. I just get them with my snack credits.

Yes, there's a daily campfire on Ol' Man Island, and you can bring anything you want to toast from home (except perhaps annoying little sisters :) ) or they give out free marshmallows there.

So glad it worked out. They (and pretty much all other customer service entities world wide) rely on people believing their first answer, or being too intimidated to pursue it further.
The part about no refund is absolutely unacceptable. Glad you kept asking! :)
Makes you wonder WHOSE room they gave you??? Do they set aside a tiny portion of rooms for "emergencies"?
Anyway, you'll have to update us on how it all worked out. If you show up and they DON'T give you your preferred room, tell them the whole story and "offer" to become their bff and shadow until it is resolved. :thumbsup2

We're moving our trip from Feb. '13 to Sept. '13. :sad1:

I'm bummed, BUT...it will give us much more time to save up and deal with some bills before then.
Still hoping for Free Dining, and therefore staying at POR! :cool1:

I'm suppose to be in WDW right now!! I had to move it next year. Yes, it will give us more time to save money and do more planning. Cheer up.. It's not so bad.. Hey, at least you're still going and not cancelling. :)

Don't feel too bad.. at least you're going the same year. I'm suppose to be in WDW right now.. but had to move it next year. Yes, it will give us more time to save money and do more planning.

Agree! Less crowds in September!! And you will be able to enjoy the pool better!! The pool may be heated, but if the air is cold... you will definitely will get the chill! :)

haha that's good to know! As someone who's lost about 30lbs so far and has a bit more to go I usually feel the need to try and educate everyone! :rotfl:

If they don't get your preferred room, ask them to refund you when you get there. We had booked "waterview" and got it. But we couldn't see the pool at all as we needed ground floor. We were fine. But then there was a leak in our room and we needed to change rooms. They didn't have anymore waterview rooms on the ground floor, so we were put in a Garden view room and we were given a room credit for the difference. It was nice because we used it for two TS meals! :rotfl:

We are at our 45 day mark until our 9 night stay at POR in a prefferred room. What is a good request to note on our reservation for this area? Is it reasonable to ask for a non parkinglot view or should i make another request like builiding 18 or 14 since they have limited parking lot views? thanks everyone!!

Hi everyone! I'm on the boat to DTD right now and have been feeling much better. My kids and I met up with Andre at the River Roost. Had a lovely chat and was glad to get together. We have 5 more days to our trip :(. I hope we have no more prolonged rain!
