The Moist Exhausting Free Trip Ever - Link to Part II Thread pg. 244

A while back, I posted this recipe on Marv's TR tread:

Cinnamon Bun Coffee Cake

1 package Rich's (or other brand) dough balls
1 package vanilla pudding (cook and serve, not instant)
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 stick butter (or margarine)

Grease 10" tube (bundt) pan. Sprinkle raisins or nuts on bottom. (Although I dont. Yuck.) Place (frozen) dough balls around the pan on top of rainsins and nuts. Sprinkle with mixture of vanilla pudding, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Top with one stick of melted butter. Leave out on counter and cover with a small towel. Let dough rise for 10-12 hours. Bake 1/2 hour at 350 degrees.

You may find it helpful to put a piece of aluminum foil loosely on top when baking to avoid browning the bottom too much.

Actually, I posted it as a joke....in an attempt to turn Marv's thread into a cooking forum. ;) But, I really do make it on occasion, and it is the extent of my baking skills. Last night, we were expecting ice accumulation overnight so I figured there'd be a school delay (which there was) and I thought it'd be a good time to make some. Here are some pictures from my phone.

The "dough balls" I found in our grocery store. These are just dinner rolls, I'm not sure if "Rich's" are something different, but these worked fine.

Everything ready to be put together. The dry ingredients (sugar, cinnamon, and pudding mix) in a bowl at the bottom and the melted butter in a bowl to the left. First, I put just one package of dough balls in, but it just didn't seem like enough, so I put in a second bag. Then I took 6 out. Then I said, "Oh what the heck" and put the 6 back in. So, I've got 2 bags-worth in here. We'll see how that turns out.

After the dry ingredients have been sprinkled in and the butter poured over.

I covered it with a dish towel, and let it rise overnight. I came down this morning to this:

Okay, so maybe next time I'll go with a bag and a half.

Then, during the baking we had a little mix-up. I set the timer to go off early so I could check it. Judy was in the kitchen when it went off and thought that it meant it was done. She flipped it out onto a plate and found that it was still mushy. She tried to get it back into the pan (that must have been a sight) and put it back in for 10 minutes but didn't think it would work. It still turned out okay, but would've been better if it had been allowed to bake fully the first time.

The finished product.

I'll be over soon. You'll provide coffee too, right???

You put the dough balls in............ you take the dough balls out......... you put the dough balls in and............

I'm having Via right now, but for you I'd even dig out the espresso machine.

Rename it "Hokey Pokey Bread"?

Mike is having a Via right now too.

Good news: The jacuzzi if fixed; The bad news: The espresso machine has still not been touched. Ah, what I'd give for an espresso that doesn't have the Green Dot logo on it....

Well, congrats on the jacuzzi at least. What, you don't like paying a small fortune for coffee?

You're just jealous Glennbo!

Busted.

If you've ever heard any interviews with Geore Takei, that's definitely what he thinks William Shatner's attitude is. :rotfl2:

Do DVC points depreciate?

No, but the last couple of years they've "reallocated" the point charts. They aren't allowed to increase them in total, but some seasons and days of the week have gone up while others have gone down. It's an attempt to equalize supply and demand. The time of the year that we usually go is now a few points more expensive....naturally.

Hey, Glen! Since we've been home from school for two days now (and looking at a third, with all the other area schools I've seen already closed for tomorrow), I actually had some time to get caught up. How's the weather by you guys? You must've gotten something if your kids had a delay.

Test Track pictures looked fun! My older DS is still reminding me that we never got him on that one last trip. He continually tells us that when we go back for his birthday (right now our next trip will probably be a short one in Dec. 2012, which is near his birthday) that it's the first ride he wants to take.

I laughed when I read about James asking if it was ok to eat in there, waving his sandwich around. The abovementioned DS (just turned 7) did the same thing when we went to see Tangled Thanksgiving weekend. We'd, well...smuggled....some candy in to the theatre in my purse. We paid for our tickets and were crossing the lobby when all of a sudden Jack's hand is in my purse as we're walking, and he's asking loudly if he can have his candy. :headache: It took several tries for me to get him to understand WHY this wasn't the best thing to do. Must be something about little boys...

Hey, it's great that the weather has given you some DIS-time! We still have a lot of snow on the ground which we got from last week's storm, but the last couple of nights we've gotten ice. Schools were closed yesterday, but just a 2-hour delay today. It actually got up around 40 degrees this afternoon, so we're seeing some melting, but it's only a small dent in all the snow we have.

Good for him being decisive! I'd rather travel with someone like that than people who don't really know what they want to do.

:rotfl2: That's a good story. Yeah, it must be a boy thing. Unsubtle and loud and with the worst timing!

Ok, I gotta ask: Tom, how many pictures do you have catalogued, just waiting to spring on Glenn in his TR? :rotfl:

I don't know, but I hope he doesn't run out...I like them!

This one in his TR yesterday, cracked me up. Link Then I had to explain to Lauren what I was laughing at and that he was on a "Solo" trip (and Han Solo appears in his TR) and showed her the picture and she literally went into a fit of laughter.

I'm trying to catch up - pedaling uphill!

I know what you mean...sometimes I feel the same way, myself! But, I'm glad you're still here Tammie. Feel free to use the links in the Table of Contents.

Just spent the evening reading your report. Sounds like you had a wonderful trip, can't wait to here the rest of it.

Thank You! As much as I love all the intelligent banter and information from so many talented DISers, I just had to get to the main story! Looks like in spite of the low excitement level, your family had some great time at Innoventions:thumbsup2

Love Test Track! I'm sorry Lauren wasn't feeling well - hope it's just a passing thing. Marleen makes a good hat model. Maybe she can film her own utube video about her talent.:thumbsup2

Love the coffee cake! Yummo! I make that one with butterscotch pudding - I'll have to try the vanilla and see how that tastes!

If Glenn brings the cake, you can both come and get an espresso from my new Nespresso machine which makes some really nice coffee!! :cloud9: I am only still a bit annoyed that there wasn't any George Cloony in the box... (in case you don't have those adds in the US, check this).

Ok, I gotta ask: Tom, how many pictures do you have catalogued, just waiting to spring on Glenn in his TR? :rotfl:

Let us see.

Considering that I have had a PC of one kind or another since 1983.
I have been dialing into AOL since 1992 and became familiar with the internet in 1996,
and contributed to various joke sites over the years,
I'd have to say I can dig something up pretty quickly on just about any topic.
Now that I look back on it,
Oh how the years have been wasted. :rotfl:

I agree! They crack me up, too. And thanks for the reminder about his TR. I keep forgetting to go check the Disneyland board for it. Sorry, Tom... :guilty:

Just spent the evening reading your report. Sounds like you had a wonderful trip, can't wait to here the rest of it.

:welcome: Bethislucy! Thanks for reading! I'm glad you're here and reporting in. We did have a wonderful trip and there's still plenty of good stuff left to report.

Thank You! As much as I love all the intelligent banter and information from so many talented DISers, I just had to get to the main story! Looks like in spite of the low excitement level, your family had some great time at Innoventions:thumbsup2

There definitely are some witty people on here, but yes 200+ pages can be a lot, so not a problem just sticking to the main story. Reminds me of some good advice I once heard in a movie: "Stay on the road. Keep clear of the moors." Captain Oblivious -- what's that from? ;)

Yes, we had some fun in Innoventions. I really wanted to make sure that we devoted some time to it.

Love Test Track! I'm sorry Lauren wasn't feeling well - hope it's just a passing thing. Marleen makes a good hat model. Maybe she can film her own utube video about her talent.:thumbsup2

Fear not, Lauren's condition will improve later. Regarding Marlene, she's taken enough photos of herself modeling her wardrobe that I probably could make a youtube video out of it!

Love the coffee cake! Yummo! I make that one with butterscotch pudding - I'll have to try the vanilla and see how that tastes!

Hmm, I never thought to switch-up the pudding mix.

I need to see if I can find that picture.

Can't wait!

The cantaloupe comment came from the nurse in the delivery room.

Considering how many deliveries she's probably seen, that's saying something!

I watched that, and was surprised to see John Malkovich in it too. You didn't mention him. :confused3 You like Clooney better?

That picture of Han Solo frozen on the bed was classic!

See, I don't consider this wasteful at all. :confused3 :rotfl2:

Certainly not!
