Scott's January trip...A photographic magical trip. UPDATED 3/16 - Final thoughts

Ok so let me sum up my trip with the kids.

1) I have never had such a horrible experience with flying then I did this trip.

2) It was great getting the building I asked for.

3) POR is one of the most gorgeous resorts. We never had a problem with the busses, the food court was great. Boatwright's was delicious.

4) The kids reaction, especially Tiny's, at MK was great.

5) Epcot is a wonderful park. This was the first time I really took my time and looked around. In September I will be doing it even more. The rides are fun and I loved it.

6) Soarin' - WOW!! what a blast this ride is. I will always ask for the first row. Loved it.

7) Mk - I did a few firsts there, Philharmagic which was amazing. BTMRR at night is so much fun. Buzz Lightyear is a lot of fun and Stitch should be knocked down.

8) P&PP - this is so worth the money for the ticket. It did rain but we did not let it stop us and we had a great night almost till the end. Meeting Jack Sparrow was alot of fun. I still hate the picture.

9) AK - EE was amazing but not so much for Tiny. I thought we lost her on that one.
FOTLK was an amazing show and I cannot wait to see it again.
Pizzafari is not for me.
Raifiki Planet Watch is cute but not sure if I will do in September, we are only going there for 1 day.
I loved the Pangini Forest.
Donald's Breakfast Safari is a fantastic character breakfast.

10) DHS - well my favorite thing here was 50's PTC. What a surprise this place was.
Sci-fi I did not care for but will try again.
Sorry we did not see Fantasmic but I have seen it before and the kids chose not to see it.
TOT is a fantastic ride.
RNRC I will do for sure in September.
TGMR I will not ride again unless I can see the cowboy version.
Star Tours is amazing.
Next time I have to see Indy.
Loved LMA. Great show.
Will skip BLT.

11) DTD - well the kids were not thrilled here and not sure if we will make it there in September as Biff says it is an outdoor mall. We shall see, i still like it.

12) DDP - I love this. I saw many threads before we went where people complained about the appetizer and tip being excluded and to tell you the truth the app was not problem and the tip was written out for 15% or 18% or you could optional if you chose. Very simple to use. I cannot wait for deluxe.

13) Kids - well I think we all know I will not be bringing them again. If I do it would be individual. Jake was the only one who did not give me a hard time. Though jealousy did come into it with the girls having BBB and stuff. So no they will be going back with me.

14) WDW - just in general I think it is a great place to go. I do want to go to other places but will always go back to WDW for fun.

15) Upcoming trips.
September 08' with Biff.
March 09' with Biff for my birthday
June 09' London/Paris and Euro Disney with Biff
July 09' WDW with 17 others.

16) Best advice of all -
for a good time leave the kids at home and go by yourselves.

Overall it was a great trip with a few snags. i am glad I took them and do not regret it but will not be taking them anytime soon.
January was a great time to go. The crowds were not bad and mostly all the rides were very short waits.

17) Transportation -
flying I hate but feel it is a necessity, gets me there faster and with gas prices now alot cheaper. I do hate when planes drop that scares me and makes me not want to fly again but I will.
DME - this is a great service, I have not had a problem with hem yet and so far have been very good except when TSA checks bags and then I have to check in at the airport.

18) All the readers -
I just want to thank everyone who has read along on my tr and have posted or who have not, thanks for coming along on my journey.

My last TR was 23 pages and hardly any posts, thank you all for making my journey special by having all of you reading and enjoying.

i can't believe sissy said that! i don't mean to pry but did you tell her parents? i know you told your uncle but i'm not clear if that's her dad or not. anyway, her parents need to know about her ungrateful attitude. i would be HORRIFIED if my child acted that way and didn't appreciate someone being so kind as to take them to the best place on earth!!!!

Hi Scott! I have lurked for your entire report! I had to come on and post and tell you that I think you did a fabulous job on it! I loved your no holds barred, honest commentary whether it was good bad or ugly, like Sissy's attitude It was incredibly generous of you to give your cousins that experience. Scott, I was way behind and just got caught up! I just wanted to say thanks for a great TR! I've loved it and your photos have been wonderful. You did a wonderful thing for your cousins and I'm sure Karma will treat you well, even if the kids didn't Now I need to hop on over to your pre-trippie! I'm jealous you get to go back so soon! I'm sure you and Biff will have a great trip. I would love to have a trip to the world with just DH and myself and leave the kids behind, but I don't think that'll happen for quite some time! And again, sorry about Akershus--my fault!

Akersush was good for Tiny to see the Princesses and that was worth it. So no problem.

I too wondered that and forgot to ask.... I would be mortified if I found out my kid acted like that with someone who was taking them to such a special place... on their own dime!

I think my Uncle handled it. I will find out this week when I call. Me and him share the same birthday on friday.

Great job with the final thoughts! After all the bumps along the way I'm glad you can look back at a great trip!

How exciting you have so many trips to look forward to. You and Biff will really love Paris! The only regret I have was being so close and not going to Disneyland Paris. (My friends arent Disney people so it wasnt a high priority )

Ok so we got off the bus and proceeded to the Delta desk. That was quick and painless.

Sorry you had a rough trip home!

And taking a group is never easy--I too find myself wishing for a solo-trip many times!

As far as teens go, I'm finding it best to bring a friend and let them do their own thing.........or leave them at home which is cheaper anyway!

Agree with your POR assessment too! We'll have to try Boatwright's next time.

And I agree with the DDP too---still a good value and easy to use!

...now I gotta get my TR wrapped up too!

Scott! I really enjoyed your entire report.

You are a brave man! I love travelling with my kids... but there are some days when I close my eyes and have to think REALLY hard about WHY I love travelling with them. While reading about some of your "moments" with the kids, I couldn't help but think they were really treating you like a real "parent". That says alot about your character. The kids must love you a whole heck of a lot to feel secure enough to show their "true" selves .

With your upcoming trips... it looks like I'll still get my fair share of morning reading in! I hope you have an annual pass!

 

[Montana Disney Fan]

Our first 5 trips to Disney was without kids. It's the only way to go.

I'll have to try PTC. Never done it. The wife loves Rosie's (CS) and always wants a burger there.

Epcot is our favorite park. Soarin' is our favorite ride. The front row rules.

We love downtown Disney. One of our favorite places to eat is Portabella Yacht Club. Sit on the patio, enjoy a great meal. Also, the Margarita's at Cap'n Jacks kiosk are the best!

Pleasure Island is also a hoot but we enjoy the nightlife at Epcot and the Boardwalk better.

Great report. Sorry I wasn't able to follow it all. Better late than never. It was nice to meet you. I'll be around for the next trip for sure!
