I'm with you. I understand why they are making it. I wish they would have just released a copy of the stage play. I still would have seen it live. I have seen Phantom twice, and I am hoping to go a 3rd time when my boys are older. I own the 2011 stage version. Seeing the shows on my tv does not diminish my desire to see them live.I don't have high hopes for it. The show is so magical and I'm almost certain the movie will be a disappointment. I hope I'm wrong.
I thought it was boring Wicked the Musical.
Yep me too. I am seeing it for the 5th time in May, and I am very fearful they are going to ruin it, like they did with Mamma Mia and Rock of Ages. I would much rather they just film the stage version, like they did with Billy Elliott.I don't have high hopes for it. I am not a huge Rock of Ages fan, but the soundtrack from the show is pretty awesome. They RUINED Nine. I LOVE that show! It is one of my favorites. The movie was pathetic. I felt really bad for the cast. It could have been something amazing, but it was boring.Yep me too. I am somewhat skeptical it will ever actually come out since they announced it so long ago and it always just sits.

Solid of them to not market it as a movie that’s actually split into 2 parts.Super old thread, but they just dropped the trailer for this November's release. All I can say is -- squee!

I’m looking forward to seeing the movie!
They barely even indicated it was a musical. I am just not thrilled. I don't think I can see it. I have seen the stage show 8 times, but this just isn't working for me :-(Solid of them to not market it as a movie that’s actually split into 2 parts.
Yeah, I'm annoyed by that. I'm also not really a fan of Ariana Grande, so that's also putting me off. She can sing, I just don't like her.Solid of them to not market it as a movie that’s actually split into 2 parts.
Warner did the same thing with Wonka, and Paramount sort of did the same with Mean Girls. Movie Musicals don’t always sell as well at the box office. They barely even indicated it was a musical. Ditto to both, those are my two biggest issues. It doesn't need two part, at all. It's going to be a lot of new filler. And I don't like her either, I don't know why, I just dont.Yeah, I'm annoyed by that. I'm also not really a fan of Ariana Grande, so that's also putting me off. She can sing, I just don't like her.
I couldn't believe the way they marketed Mean Girls. It was literally Mean Girls the musical, and they left all of it out of the ads, and off the posters. They got a fair amount of backlash because of it.Warner did the same thing with Wonka, and Paramount sort of did the same with Mean Girls. Movie Musicals don’t always sell as well at the box office.
Wicked has enough of a backing to buck that trend.
My wife was interested until I told her it was in two parts so we’re just gonna wait till both parts are out to watch it.
