Who used Noxzema growing up?

Have been using it since I've been a teenager...many moons ago...

I've been told it's too drying for my skin now so now I use it occasionally.

You know what Noxema is good for? Have you ever had a bad cold and you end up blowing your nose so much that the skin around/beneath your nose gets really red and raw? A little dab of Noxema makes it feel so much better. Sure, you won't want to leave your house with a bunch of white gunk underneath your nose--but if you're just at home in your bathrobe watching tv on your couch, it's great! :thumbsup2

Well you had to have it on hand for sunburns!!!! Anyone else do that?

Yes! Takes the heat right out.

I used to love Noxema! I didn't mind the smell. It sure made my skin feel tingly clean.

If I didn't have so many skin care products to use up now, I'd go back to it!

I was a kid and my Aunt used Noxema - I remember using it one day (no reason to use it) and burning my face so bad I never went near it again.

My Mom used it regliously and as a result I grew up using it too. Always used it on a sunburn too. Haven't used it in a few years. Might have to start again

I don't know anyone who uses it now but I used to love the way it smelled, not right from the jar but how your skin smelled after you used it. My grandmother used it and that smell always reminded me of her. After she dies, my sister, cousin and I were cleaning out her house and found probably 20 jars of it. I'm going to see if I can buy some just for old time's sake.

Yeah, great stuff for sunburns, but unlike others here, I couldn't use it on my face. Clogged my pores in no time.

:wave2:

I tried that and a thousand other products to control my oily acne-prone complexion. None of them were very successful.

I did and I still do! It's my favorite face cleaner, and help moisturize my skin better than most other things I have tried. And I love the smell!

Same here. Not sure if it is the reason, but I've always had nice skin, hardly any blemishes. Now if I could just get rid of the extra skin I've collected over the years.:ssst::blush:

I used to use Noxzema! When I did community theater in middle and high school - I used Ponds Cold Cream, hands down!!

I also used Oil Of Olay products because my mom did!!

Now that I am in Pediatrics - I always recommend and use good ol' Cetaphil face wash and moisturizer to everyone. I have found that my skin is pretty fragile, and I have finally gotten it super pretty and clear - and Cetaphil just works for it!

If I am having a breakout, I start using Panoxyl a few times a week with moisturizer twice a day.

If I have to start the Panoxyl - for moisturizers, I use Clinique Dramatically Different in the AM and Nuxe Reve de Miel Ultra Comfortable Face Cream Night before bedtime. It really drys me out, especially in winter.

As I was reading this I realized I've really only used a few products on my face, ever. I used Noxzema while I was growing up, and sometimes Ivory soap, which was what we had in the bathtub. When my babies were born, they used Dove soap in the hospital so I started buying it at home, and have used only that to clean my face for the past 15 years. I've used Oil of Olay Complete moisturizer/sunscreen for a very long time. That's basically it. (Maybe a few other products to remove makeup, but really never wore a lot.)

Over the years I tried different products here and there, but I felt like, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. (Plus many were so expensive and when I did try them, I sometimes began to break out.) I was fortunate I really never had acne, and was blessed with good genes in the skin department, thankfully. I have few wrinkles for my age, but probably plenty of sun damage from a childhood in the sun without protection, though nothing major. My mother's skin is gorgeous, and people can hardly believe she's 87. (And yes, I still smell the Noxzema when she's getting ready for bed, we have an In Law apt and I can smell the stuff in my house, lol.)

I am trying to impress upon my teenagers how important sunscreen is. It's hard trying to get them to remember to put it on.

A few of my coworkers have told me they've been "yelled at" when they went to have facials for sun damage. :scared: I've never actually had a facial but I was thinking about going with DD. Now I'm kind of nervous about it, lol. No doubt I can handle it, though, and really, I wouldn't mind a technician pointing out my sun damage to my DD in the hopes that she can help avoid it if she cares for her skin in the sun properly.

BTW, I said "mineral oil" earlier (about baking in the sun growing up), but it should have been "baby oil". :beach:

I started using different products when my friends would recommend them. Clean. Moisturize. Sunscreen. If I can accomplish those 3 things, I'm happy. The products for the most part deliver. The sunscreen is tricky. I tend to be very liberal with application and still even with the high (30 or so) SPF, I have to be careful and avoid some brands.

I always thought laying out in the sun was the most boring thing ever. I always had magazines and books when I was talked into it (which was seldom), but I'd have to walk, play in the water, or play a game on the beach. I always thought, if I slept all night -- why would I want to lay around on the beach all day? Boring! I'm lucky I didn't like it. Still, even at that I did have a small basal cell carcinoma removed from my arm. It could have been worse if I sunbathed for fun. My skin just couldn't handle it. Now it's sunscreen all the way.

....my abuelita [God rest her soul] used that stuff faithfully for over 50 years and she had the most beautiful skin...oh, wait a minute....:scratchin.......now that I think about it, she used Ponds...

I used it! Where can you buy it now? I have looked for it and can't find it.

I think I got it at Wal Mart, a HUGE jar was like 5.00

I have used it off and on and if I begin to break out it helps with that too.

I use Cetaphil with baking soda a couple of times a week when I exfoliate. I have not use soap on my face till this year when my rosacea (sp?) began kicking up in earnest and now I need to use an acne face wash. I am afraid it is going to dry my skin but I had to make the decision to use that or break out. Adult onset breakouts are the PITS.

My mom uses this stuff religiously to this day. I used it occasionally on my face and still use it on bug bites.

Noxzema, Clearasil and Sea Breeze. Honestly, it was only recently that I stopped using it. :lmao: I'd love to be able to use it again given how expensive skin care can be.
