Hi

I hope this doesn't sound bad.. but I am curious of all the places that my little 4 1/2 yr old can go and possibly get a free pin..

I have made it to page 10 of the freebies thread.. and have noticed several times people listing places their child got a free pin..

Sadly.. we won't be in MK on Monday that they have pin talk.. do they do this any other day???

Any advice would be so so so appreicated!!!!!!!!!! I just know how she is going to be.. and we can't afford to pay 9.00 when she sees these pins in the shops...

Thanks for any tips!

When we used magical express there was a coupon in our paperwork for a "Free pin" that was cashed in at our resort gift shop. It was a gold bus and then DD traded it with a cm for something else she wanted the next day.

You might search on ebay and buy a cheap package of 6-10 pins (for $1-3 each)...then she can trade for more expensive (or just pins she likes better) to her heart's content! Imho...a great inexpensive activity at WDW if you buy her an initial (cheap) set on ebay. Even if you pay $30 for 10 pins, the fun she will have over 7 days (not counting the pins she will end up with) costs approximately $4.50 a day...and trust me, if she likes trading pins...this will be priceless in the end...to say nothing of the actual pins she will end up with!

IF YOU BUY JIF PEANUTBUTTER AND SMUCKERS JELLY, YOU CAN GET A PIN FOR $1.50 S&H EACH. YOU DON'T HAVE TO SEND THEM OUT SEPARATELY SO ONLY 1 STAMP. I'M GETTING 8 PINS AND I HAVE A YEARS SUPPLY OF PB&j.

On some Kelloggs cereal, there is a Happiest Celebration pin offer. It is kind of old, but still good until 09/06. I found them on Lilo & Stitch cereal at Deal's. You send in (or trade in at WDW) 3 certificates and you get 1 free pin. If you mail them, you don't even have to pay shipping!!!
Make sure you check out the outlets too. When we were there a couple weeks ago, we found a ton of pins for 1.99 & 2.99. Not really the designs we liked, but the kids were going to trade them anyway!

I agree about the Kellogg's offer. I'm still saving up a few certificates from cereal boxes. I was able to get 3 free pins in December from the DTD pin store.
These cereal boxes may not be on the shelves at the grocery right now, as they've probably been replaced with the newest cereal promo. But I've had good luck finding the cereals and snack bars at Big Lots or Dollar General. We just have to eat lots of cereal (or make rice krispy treats)... :rotfl2:

Sweet Maxine!!!!

Hello! Lots of news! Doing a huge Disney/Florida thing with my twins this fall (also Washington DC)...they are taking an extra year of high school...and probably taking Chinese because they are straight A students and qualify for college classes (why Chinese, have no clue lol) at the UI next year!

Anyway...we'll be at Disney for approximately 4 months this fall/winter (until we go to Washington DC in January)...if you're coming down, let me know!

I think there is also some events in DTD in the Pin stores(the one closer to RFC- had an activity in the afternoon where my boys won a pin) and perhaps the Big store over by LEGO has it too.
But recently there have been free pins on:
-Kellogs Cerals(3 needed)
-Enigerizer Batteries(in pack...but hard to find now)
-Smuckers/Jif www.jif.com/promos/disney2006/details.asp
-Magical Express voucher (was expiring in May according to mine-but maybe they will come out with more)

Please if you are going to buy cheap pins on ebay (try if you can) to trade pins that are ones that you would like getting. I usually spend 3.25 each for retired pin traders.

We were at WDW when our youngest DS was 6. After riding RNRC at MGM Studios, he went with me to the counter to buy the ride photos. He talked to the CM at the counter and she gave him a Goofy pin. I think sometimes, it's being in the right place at the right time and the child hitting it off with the CM. This is the only time that this has happened to us.

I know this doesn't happen every day, but on Wed. and Thurs. of last week the parking ticket we received at MK had a coupon for 2 free trading pins.

I saw some pins last week for $1.99 at the Belz Outlet.

Disneyshopping.com has some pins on sale, and every Monday they offer free shipping on select pins. Plus, you can use code DISNEYFAIRIES for an additional 10% off.

Here is a link to a website that offers a free grab bag of starter pins for kids. I'm sure the pins aren't Disney pins, but if you tell them your child wants to collect Disney pins, then she might get lucky and get one.

When are you going to MK???

I ask because, right now there is a coupon that you get when you pay to park at TTC that gets you 2 free pins in MK. The promo just started a couple of days ago - not sure how long it will last. :)

Just curious but have the pins gone up that much in 2 years? When we went 2 Easters ago there were a lot of pins around 6.50. I know we didn't spend 9.00
per pin. And I agree if you buy cheap pins on Ebay don't trade them with other kids for more expensive pins some littler kids don't know and it is mean to rip them off.

There is a weekly pin trading event at the Contemporary where the children can trade pins...no adults allowed! Adults can trade pins in other areas of this event...but the (large) area with lots of pins can only be accessed by children who do their own trading. Also, in several of the areas where CMs trade pins, certain CMs only trade with kids (they have a special lanyard color...yellow(?). All this is done in an effort to keep children from getting "taken" by adults.

Earlier in this thread, when I said buy a cheap set from ebay...I didn't mean buy cheap pins...buy Disney pins as cheaply as you can get them on ebay (or other sources)...and then let your child trade these "bought cheaply" pins for other Disney pins of characters they really like (lol maybe the "bought cheaply pins will have pins they really really like/want too!). Let them pick out the ones they want (lol...even if they aren't the most valuable...it's all relative anyway, and the pins your child chooses/trades "all by him/herself" with no criticism (only delightful praise) from mom and/or dad will live in his/her memory long after the pins have lost their allure.

The lanyards that can only be traded to kids are the green lanyards.

At the MouseGear store at Epcot they have a daily trading event for kids. It is at Noon and 5pm. Basically, kids can trade off a huge board of pins...some rare and lanyard pins are available. Kids have a certain amount of time to trade. Adults can also participate, but they have less trading time. There is usually a line at 5pm by the doors in the breezeway between Innoventions and MouseGear.

I also as a pin trader collecter will sometimes give kids a pin to add to their lanyard or trade as they please.

This may have already been mentioned but just in case...

The certificates for FREE pins from Kelloggs are also found on the Fruit Snack packages.

I bought a tinkerbell lanyard with the four pins to trade in 2004. I think I have 5 or 6 free pins because I would go to trade and the CM's would just give them to me! It was such a surprise! One time in MGM at the little stand right smack dab in the middle of the street when you first go in the CM opened a drawer and gave me 3 or 4 tinkerbell pins without trading any. I forgot my lanyard in 2005 (I was very upset :( ) so I'll have to make it up this trip in November. My DBF is going and he is going to think I'm the weirdest person running around trading pins and getting excited with free ones. :) Also, I know last time we had a free pin coupon for using Magical Express that we traded at the gift shop in WL and they give you the ugliest pin of a bus. Yes. A bus. But it was free!! Good luck! Have fun and I'm sure if you're kid seems interested in the pins you might get lucky with a generous CM!
